Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives an increase in linearity of a given stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items increases depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the effectiveness of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or by increasing the rarity or mark level. Many items can also be reforged to boost their value.
Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the main method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that slot into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while other components offer a general bonus.
There are several types of upgrade components available in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments can be placed in any equipment type and offer less bonuses than those that are equipment type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools, and provide a variety of bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.
Choose the item from your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. It will show the expected stats after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The number of upgrade components required for a particular item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, however it can be reduced by various methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
Most weapons can be upgraded with an upgrade to a prefix like an insignia, or a rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded using an upgrade suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are an effective tool to communicate visual information. They move to draw the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them more effective in conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the retention of messages by creating a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could enhance a stat in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This range is not the exact amount at which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount it can increase a stat. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the item you are enchanting.
The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use, but it's not been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can remove a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged using the glyph shards.
The addition of a glyph to an item can cause it to become unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also add the glyph on your equipment to provide an additional benefit. For instance, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at one time. This is helpful for players who take a lot damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes that are placed on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from various sources, including mystery boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Reroll tokens give the player a new random affix that is usually superior to the original. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of item upgrade s, but they are still able to be upgraded. If you click the "upgrade button", you can recycle the recycled items. This will change the appearance of the window for the item and let up to six items to be chosen for recycling. Recycling an item adds a small amount of points to its gauge of level. The amount is by the rarity of the item as well as its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable to recycle than lower-leveled ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it is higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.
A reroll is a good option to upgrade an item, however, players must be aware that it will reduce the total ilvl of the weapon based on the number of rerolls needed to increase it to the final level. This is evident on Rings and Diadems as they have no other options to raise the ilvl.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it with money or a food item that allows players to alter their build without spending too much time and effort. The developers have no plans to offer paid rerolls in this stage of the game's development. They're planning to include the ability for players to change their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are many ways to level up an upgrade for an item. The first way to level up an item upgrade is to increase the amount of upgrade. This increases the value of an upgrade for the stat. The second is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which increases the healing or damage of a given stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
When upgrading your items, it is important to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases the chance of a better roll will be derived from glyphs, but there are also chances for higher or more special rolls. In addition the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the item type, so when you upgrade a rare or unique item to an exceptional item type it could gain a higher iLevel.
Upgrades can be costly particularly if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to the legendary. The price will depend on the item's iLevel base and the amount of upgrade levels it offers. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to reach the next level.
If you're lucky your upgraded item will reach the maximum level of its upgrade track and gain an additional bonus effect. This will give you a substantial increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased a value of +3.
The iLevel also changes depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to a rare or exceptional item is likely to be upgraded to the Enhanced Defense of the base item type.
