World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to an item are a way to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats.
Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. This is the sum of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
Item level is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all item tooltips. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet.
The level of an item can help players compare the power of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller is possible using the item level.
On item upgrade , you are able to see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are many theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the value of the item. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl since the size of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant component of what determines the value of an item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.
Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. Affixes are used to give items additional damage or other special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by putting a name on them.
All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.
Players can upgrade an item with a specific stat or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it is a unique item or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another aspect that could be altered by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this would have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface will not show all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run than later ones since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor and weapons have the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck or to boost an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Additionally some items, like the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available from the shop or made using the correct ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot be greater than 100%..
The Luck of an item may influence the success of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects could be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
