A multiphysics computational model was developed to simulate the injection and absorption processes of a protein solution in the SC tissue.
Quantitative relationships among tissue properties and transport behaviors of an injected solution were described by respective physical laws. SC tissue was treated as a 3-dimensional homogenous, poroelastic medium, in which vasculatures and lymphatic vessels were implicitly treated. Tissue deformation was considered, and interstitial fluid flow was modeled by Darcy's law. Transport of the drug mass was described based on diffusion and advection, which was integrated with tissue mechanics and interstitial fluid dynamics.
Injection and absorption of albumin and IgG solutions were simulated. Upon injection, a sharp rise in tissue pressure, porosity, and fluid velocity could be observed at the injection tip. Largest tissue deformation appeared at the model surface. Transport of drug mass out of the injection zone was minimal. Absorption by local lymphatics was found to last several weeks.

The results appear to match experimental observations.We describe a case of a boy with neurodevelopmental delay and a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in whom we discovered a germline de novo 2p16.3 deletion including MSH6 and part of the FBXO11 gene. A causative role for MSH6 in cancer development was excluded based on tumor characteristics. The constitutional FBXO11 deletion explains the neurodevelopmental delay in the patient. The FBXO11 protein is involved in BCL-6 ubiquitination and BCL-6 is required for the germinal center reaction resulting in B cell differentiation. Somatic loss of function alterations of FBXO11 result in BCL-6 overexpression which is a known driver in DLBCL. We therefore consider that a causative relationship between the germline FBXO11 deletion and the development of DLBCL in this boy is conceivable.A new tuberculosis model consisting of ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations is established in this paper. The model includes latent age (i.e., the time elapsed since the individual became infected but not infectious) and relapse age (i.e., the time between cure and reappearance of symptoms of tuberculosis). Finally, we give an effective measure to reach the goal of WHO of reducing the incidence of tuberculosis by 80% by 2030 compared to 2015.
Lymph node involvement is one of the important prognostic factors of patients with lung adenocarcinoma. In the tumor, node, and metastasis classification, lymph node involvement is categorized only according to the anatomical station and not the involvement pattern. The aim of this study was to investigate which morphological pattern of lymph node involvement affects the prognosis of patients with surgically resected lung adenocarcinoma.
We retrospectively reviewed 168 consecutive patients who underwent surgical resection for primary lung adenocarcinoma with lymph node involvement. The morphological patterns of lymph node involvement (tumor area, number of metastatic lymph nodes, presence of necrosis, and extranodal extension) were histologically examined. The relationships between the patterns of lymph node involvement, clinicopathological features, and survival of patients were analyzed.
Eighty patients had N1 disease, and 88 patients had N2 disease. Univariate analysis revealed that invasive size, hitterns.
The use of Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) Methods is increasing and therefore gaining importance also in conventional western medicine. Identifying personal traits to make out by whom and why CAM is used can help physicians in successful physician-patient interaction, and thus improve patient's compliance and trust towards their physician.
A questionnaire was passed on to cancer patients in an ambulant clinical and a rehabilitation setting. Multiple regression analyses were run to examine possible predictors for CAM use, such as gender, age, level of education, spirituality, attentiveness, self-efficacy and resilience. To differentiate within CAM users, two dependent variables were created "holistic and mind-body methods", such as Yoga, meditation or Homeopathy and "material based methods", such as food supplements or vitamins.
Higher level of education, younger age and religion-independent attentiveness were significant predictors for the use of "material based methods". Female gender, higher education and religious spirituality were detected as significant predictors for "holistic and mind-body methods".
This study is among the first to take a more detailed look at how numerous personal traits are associated with the use of CAM methods and differentiate between the applied methods. Our finding should be considered by conventional health care providers and could be integrated into a holistic assessment, to offer information about complementary medicine and meeting patients' needs.
