Replacement UPVC Door Handles
If you're replacing your handles or want to add a bit of extra security, you'll choose the perfect handle for your door. Upvc handles are simple to install and meet the required 92mm centres of multipoint locks.
The backplate fixing centre and the keyhole/lever dimensions are the most important measurements. Check these measurements against your existing marks carefully before ordering.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles consist of a lever on one side and a paddle-shaped handle on the opposite. They are designed to be used with key wind locks however, they can also be used to split spindle multipoint door locks (though you'll need a separate dual spindle lock case).
Our range of upvc handle lever pads are available in a range of finishes. They will be displayed in the drop-down menu after you have identified the perfect handle for your door. Not all styles of handles are available in every finish and you should always look over the sizes and technical drawings for the specific product you want to make sure that you are getting the right size and fit.
It is important to ensure that when you choose a new set upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the spindle of the handle to the middle of the hole of the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because they need to be aligned in order to ensure that doors stay locked, regardless of whether you are looking at them from the inside or outside. The handles we sell are designed to work with most standard cylinder locks, however it is advisable to double-check before ordering.
You will need to remove the handles on your current handle and remove the lock case if you're upgrading to dual spindle handle levers since this will require a split cylinder inline. You can purchase these separately. We have included a diagram of the technical aspects in the images of each product.
Once you have removed the screws holding the handle on your door, it is an ideal idea to loosen them and inspect the mechanism to see the condition it is in. If the screws aren't tight enough then you might need to loosen them more. Then you can remove the spindle from the door handle and replace it with your new upvc handle. It is essential to ensure that the handle is in the correct position before fixing it. You can do this by placing your finger between the frame, and the handle to ensure that it's level.
Lever/Lever
Lever door handles operate with a multi-point lock that utilizes a Euro cylinder. They can be found on most upvc double doors, aluminium doors and a few wooden doors. They feature a lever on the inside and a paddle on the outside and are usually supplied in two types. Sprung - These have a spring cassette inside the backplate that helps to bring the handle lever into the horizontal position. Non-sprung: They do not have a mechanism for bringing the handle lever to a horizontal angle.
To repair a sagging door handle lever, you'll need to find the hole or pin that is the detent access point. It's typically an insignificant hole or protruding ring, or rectangle, located on the handle base plate. Once located you can loosen the set screw with a screwdriver and remove it to allow the lever to return to its horizontal position.
Once the handle is in a horizontal position you can put the screws back in place and tighten them so that the handle is secured to the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking product to the threads of screws to increase grip and stop them from loosening over time.
Drooping lever handles on door handles could be the result of various causes. The most common reason is that the fixings have been too tightened and are putting strain on the lever bearing causing it to bind against the door's surface. It could also be due to the fact that the levers are not being operated at a straight angle and this is compressing the latch mechanism and preventing it from fully springing back into operation.
Another common cause is that the sprung lever isn't functioning properly and this is usually due to the spring not being in the right position within the backplate. The simplest way to check this is to move the handle to check whether it changes to its horizontal position.
If the door handles aren't tight, it is crucial to find the issue quickly, since this could lead to excessive wear on the screws and eventually to the handle falling off of the base plate. It is also a good idea to tighten all screws that are loose regularly to help to prevent them from becoming loose.
Lever/Snib
The handles for doors made of upvc are also known as 'Snib' handle sets and have a snib button towards the top of the lever that you can push down to lock your door if you don't have a Dummy lock. These handles are fitted with a Fullex lock 68PZ. (68mm between the spindle and the centre of the lock). We also have a selection of door handles with 68PZ from manufacturers like Ferco and Fab & Fix.
The replacement of your door handle is a cost-effective option to modernize your home, whether replacing handles that are in use or fitting new ones to doors you've built in your house. There are many styles of door handles made from upvc available, including traditional lever on backplates, straight or curved short latches, and knob handles with dummy handles for multi point locks, which are ideal for French doors.

They also come with an release mechanism that turns the thumb and can be used on doors for bathrooms.
Mortise
The tubular latch is most likely to be the cause of this in the event that your door handle is slammed shut. There could be a variety of things that can cause this, the first being an unlubricated latch plate on the latch plate. This can be corrected quickly by opening the door and spraying lubricant over the lock and handle. It could also be that the latch plate has become detached from the backplate. This could be more problematic and will require a specialist to repair.
A multipoint door handle is the ideal solution to the problem of a door handle that is stuck. The handles are inserted into the door's faceplate and are operated by a thumb turn knob or key that triggers a cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a range of different sizes to fit different types of uPVC doors. They also come with a variety of attractive finishes to match the hardware you already have. The handles can be purchased via the internet or from a local locksmith and are easy to install with clear instructions.
If you want to replace the handle set, you'll have to determine the PZ dimension of your cylinder. This is the measurement in millimetres between the inner edge of the frame of the door and the centre of the hole for the handle. You should also know if your door has a hook style lock or a mortise lock. The most efficient way to locate the correct handles once you have the measurements is to use the filter for brands on the website. This will narrow down your options and you can then select the correct size from the list.
A typical handle set includes the handle with a pair of various length screws, drill guides and installation instructions. The smart versions, such as the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+, include an entire mortice lock that has a built-in keypad. These are more complex devices that are suited to professionals or highly skilled DIYers. Some handle sets include various accessories, such as weather strips that can be used to enhance appearance of the door.
