Upgrades can boost the value of armor and weapons. However upgrading common equipment isn't worth the cost as uncommon or exclusive equipment will outclass it quickly.

A product can be upgraded up to six times. Each upgrade will increase the item gauge.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade materials that can be used to enhance the attributes of an item. Glyphs can be used to improve weapons or armor.
