World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd for their unique stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) and others, like weapons, don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. In addition, many weapons have an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. In some cases this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For item upgrades , an upgrade to a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue to rise until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. While this is generally an excellent thing but it can also have negative consequences too. Upgrades can make things unusable, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
The ability to upgrade armor items to improve their performance. For instance, if you have chests or helms, it will boost its base defense while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it may change its roll to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats it will get when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button on the item menu with the circling arrows. This will roll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level or bind to account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor could make a huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets provide massive boosts to poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which can make traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the more defense you can offer your character, the greater health you will receive from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four in total and each one requires you to complete a unique side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest and the associated fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. You'll require anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a decent-sized group of enemies in most cold conditions and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, giving you enough protection to survive a full on raid with a handful of friends.
It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll have to focus on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock perks for your armor. You'll generally want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game. For example the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have some upgrades for the chest armor and helmets so that you can sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, provide an immediate effect. There are five kinds of potions, each with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. Alternatively the effects of certain potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust them.
Potion upgrades require a certain amount of XP. This can be obtained by crafting them on a craft table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion used and the item's rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI that allows you to select the potion you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they will give you when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP level.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not be degraded until you re-use it, or break the bottle it is stored in. You can also rename the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
There were some changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. Splash potions, for example are now available with a time of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds displayed on the item hover display. The table for potion is now made of four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It is now able to be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Contrary to Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be combined in cauldrons. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the liquid and replenishes the bottle.
Finally, there are simmering potions that are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can be added to lingering potions to enhance their effect. The table of potions has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be an object or ornament that serves a function but isn't important such as a Thimble. In some cultures a trinket can be used to express friendship or affection between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their stats.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, as well as in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available with tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
The upgrade of a trinket can be an affordable alternative to buying an entirely new one. It is possible to upgrade the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same level of base as the previous trinket but it also comes with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded once they're no longer needed which allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their top-priority items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are upgraded first then their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment they won't be replacing in the near future (such as a ring or an cloak). When deciding on the items to upgrade, players should take into account the preferred statistics of their class. For instance, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level once they no longer have value and the new trinket will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
