0 ng/mL to 100 µg/mL with a detection limit (DL) of 3.5 ± 0.04 ng/mL for TPPs (n = 3, 3σ/k). Colorimetry of DUCDs, best measured as absorbance at 320 nm, was increased linearly in the TPP concentration range 200 ng/mL-200 µg/mL with a DL of 94.7 ± 0.04 ng/mL (n = 3, 3σ/k). The probe was successfully applied to the determination of TPPs in real tea samples, showing potential application prospects in food analysis. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the relationship between school burnout, sense of school belonging, and academic achievement in medical students. This cross-sectional study was performed with students at the Ondokuz Mayıs University Medical Faculty (Samsun, Turkey) between 1 and 31 May 2019. Six hundred one (71.0%) first, second, and third-year students were included in the study. A questionnaire was employed as the data collection method. The questionnaire consisted of two parts. The first part consisted of questions investigating sociodemographic information produced by the authors by scanning the literature. The second part consisted of the School Burnout Inventory and the Psychological Sense of School Membership Scale. The relationship between the sense of school belonging, school burnout, and academic achievement was evaluated using structural equation modeling. The structural equation modeling analysis determined that school burnout played a mediating role in the relationship between the sense of school belonging and academic achievement in preclinical medical students. As the sense of belonging to the school increases in preclinical medical students, academic achievement increases. School burnout in preclinical medical students increases as a sense of school belonging decreases. Academic achievement among preclinical medical students decreases as school burnout levels increase. Increasing the sense of school belonging can be effective in preventing school burnout and increasing academic achievement.
Inflammation plays an important role in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis, leading to poor clinical outcomes. Hyperuricemia is associated with the activation of the Nod-like receptor protein 3 inflammasome. Here, we investigated whether inhibition of inflammation using febuxostat lowered the risk of cardiovascular events.
This is a post-hoc analysis of the randomized trial, Febuxostat for Cerebral and CaRdiorenovascular Events PrEvEntion StuDy (FREED). In total, 1067 patients (736 men and 331 women) were included in the analysis. We compared the serial changes in high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels between febuxostat and non-febuxostat groups and assessed the correlation between the changes in uric acid (UA) and hs-CRP levels after febuxostat treatment. We also determined whether febuxostat could reduce a hard endpoint, defined as a composite of cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality.
Serum UA levels in the febuxostat group were significantly lower than those in the non-febuxostat group after randomization (p < 0.05). However, hs-CRP levels were comparable between the two groups during the study. No significant correlation was observed between the changes in UA and hs-CRP levels after febuxostat treatment. The hard endpoints did not differ significantly between the two groups. In patients with baseline hs-CRP levels > 0.2 mg/dL or those administered 40 mg of febuxostat, the drug did not reduce hs-CRP levels or decrease the hard endpoint.
Febuxostat reduced the UA levels but did not affect the CRP levels, and therefore may fail to improve cardiovascular outcomes after treatment.

Low-grade gliomas (LGGs) occurring in children can result in many different neurologic complications, including seizures. MEK inhibitors are increasingly being used to treat LGG, but their effect on associated neurologic symptoms has not been established.
Here, we report a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), medically refractory epilepsy (MRE), and an extensive optic pathway glioma (OPG) who developed dose-dependent seizure control while being treated with selumetinib. Seizure frequency rebounded after dose reduction for cardiac toxicity, then improved, and finally ceased after restarting full dosing, allowing confidence in the cause of improvement.
Selumetinib may have promise in epilepsy management in other children with NF1 or LGG.

While it is universally acknowledged that such a premise is fundamental to the debunker's case, the vast majority of philosophers focus instead on the epistemic premise that natural selection does not track moral truth and the resulting skeptical conclusion(s). Recently, however, some have begun to concentrate on the causal premise. So far, the upshot of this small but growing literature has been that the causal premise is likely false due to the seemingly persuasive evidence that our moral beliefs are in fact not the result of natural selection. In this paper, I argue that this view is mistaken. Specifically, I advocate the Innate Biases Model, which contends that there is not only compelling evidence for an evolved cognitive capacity for acquiring norms but also for the existence of an evolutionarily instilled set of cognitive biases that make it either more or less likely that we adopt certain moral beliefs.
Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF-21), alpha-amylase, and alpha-glucosidase are key proteins implicated in metabolic dysregulations. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an environmental toxicant known to cause endocrine dysregulations. Hesperidin from citrus is an emerging flavonoid for metabolic diseases management. Through computational approach, we investigated the potentials of hesperidin in abrogating BPA interference in metabolism. The 3D crystal structure of the proteins (FGF-21, α-amylase, and α-glucosidase) and the ligands (BPA and hesperidin) were retrieved from the PDB and PubChem database respectively. Using Autodock plugin Pyrx, molecular docking of the ligands and individual proteins were performed to ascertain their binding affinities and their potentials to compete for the same binding site. Validation of the docking study was considered as the ability of the ligands to bind at the same site of each proteins. The docking poses were visualized using UCSF Chimera and Discovery Studio 2020, respectively to reveal each of the protein-ligands interactions within the binding pockets. Using SwissAdme and AdmeSar servers, we further investigated hesperidin's ADMET profile. Hesperidin used was purchased commercially.
Hesperidin and BPA competitively bound to the same site on each protein. Interestingly, hesperidin had greater binding affinities (Kcal/mol) - 5.80, - 9.60, and - 9.60 than BPA (Kcal/mol) - 4.40, - 7.20, - 7.10 for FGF-21, α-amylase, and α-glucosidase respectively. Visualizations of the binding poses showed that hesperidin interacted with stronger bonds than BPA within the proteins' pockets. Although hesperidin violated Lipinski rule of five, this however can be optimized through structural modifications.
Hesperidin may be an emerging natural product with promising therapeutic potentials against metabolic and endocrine derangement.

The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for brain metastases (BMs) from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains debatable. This study aimed to explore the efficacy of ICIs for NSCLC with BMs. Calciumfolinate We also evaluated the effect of BMs on outcomes of ICIs.
A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases was conducted to identify studies where the efficacy of ICIs against BMs from NSCLC, or the association between BMs and outcomes of ICIs were evaluated. Outcomes included intracranial objective response rate (icORR), intracranial disease control rate (icDCR), systemic ORR and DCR.
Overall, 33 studies were included in this meta-analysis. The pooled icORR was 13% (95%CI 6-23%) and icDCR was 50% (95%CI 40-63%) for programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) unselected patients with any BMs. For active BMs, pooled icORR was 15% (95%CI 6-28%) and icDCR was 47% (95% CI 36-57%). For PD-L1 ≥ 50% patients with any BMs, pooled icORR and icDCR were 68% (95%CI 57-80%) and 82% (95%CI 73-92%), respectively. Additionally, pooled systemic ORR and DCR for any BMs were 22% (95%CI 15-30%) and 41% (95%CI 18-67%), respectively. Patients with BMs had inferior progression-free survival (HR 1.19, 95%CI 1.07-1.33, P = 0.0016) and overall survival (HR 1.14, 95%CI 1.03-1.25, P = 0.011) when applying ICIs compared to those without BMs. However, no significant difference in systemic ORR between patients with and without BMs was observed (OR 0.94, 95%CI 0.72-1.20, P = 0.629).
ICIs may be clinically active in NSCLC patients with BMs. More effective treatments for BMs from NSCLC are needed.

Forty-five (45) locations were randomly selected across the five local government areas in Benin City, Edo State, for air quality assessment. Indoor and outdoor particulates (PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10) were monitored monthly using a handheld BLATN particulate sampler (Br-Smart-126S series). Reported clinical cases of asthma in children from 2008 to 2017 were collected from two major hospitals in the metropolis. The data obtained were analysed with SPSS for Windows version 21.0. The average concentrations of indoor and ambient PM ranged between 10.7-26.2 and 19.0-49.4 µg/m3 (PM1.0), 27.4-59.6 and 45.6-93.0 µg/m3 (PM2.5), and 33.5-67.9 and 60.9-106.1 µg/m3 (PM10) in the wet and dry seasons. PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations were observed above the WHO standards. Indoor particulate concentration was significantly (p = 0.001-0.012) higher in the dry season across the locations. Outdoor PM correlated positively (R = 0.568-0.855, p less then 0.05; R2 = 0.322-0.724, p less then 0.001) with their corresponding indoor PM concentration. The hazard ratio (HR) values of PM2.5 and PM10 exceeded 1 in all the sampling locations during the dry season, while the mean total hazard ratio (THR) of both PM metrics was considerably higher during the dry season than in the wet season. Indoor PM concentrations showed a significant positive correlation with reported cases of asthma (R = 0.498-0.542, p less then 0.001) and accounted for 40.6% of the asthma cases during the dry season. The study showed that children in the selected households are at risk of increased asthma exacerbation due to exposure to particulate matter pollution.
This study aimed to assess the prevalence of dens invaginatus (DI) and its association with periapical lesions (PLs) in a Western Indian population by means of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).
CBCT volumes of 5201 subjects were evaluated. Associations among gender, tooth type, DI type (Oehler's classification), and presence of PL were investigated. PL was codified using Estrela's Cone Beam Computed Tomography Periapical Index (CBCTPAI). Chi-square tests and descriptive statistics were used at p = 0.05.
Overall, 7048 CBCTs were assessed, containing 19,798 maxillary and mandibular anteriors, of which 77 maxillary teeth demonstrated DI (0.39% of all anteriors). Of all 5201 subjects, 57 had DI (1.1%). Bilateral DI was more common in females than in males (p = 0.046). DI type distribution was as follows type I (22.1%), type II (61.03%), type IIIa (10.4%), and type IIIb (6.5%), which was significantly different (p < 0.001). Maxillary lateral incisors were the most associated with PL (p < 0.001). Type I was frequently associated with CBCTPAI scores 1 and 2 (absence of PL), whereas types II, IIIa, and IIIb were associated with CBCTPAI scores 3, 4, and 5 (presence of PL).
