The assessment results showed that healthy, subhealthy, slightly damaged, damaged and severely damaged plots accounted for 20.0%, 26.7%, 26.7%, 15.0% and 11.6% of the total plots, respectively. In summary, all plots in natural reaches, artificial bank plant reaches and artificial bank ornamental plant reaches were either healthy, subhealthy or slightly damaged. Plots in artificial bank masonry reaches were either subhealthy, slightly damaged, damaged or severely damaged, accounting for 9.1%, 27.3%, 27.3% and 36.4% of the total plots, respectively. The study proposed a method to assess mountainous river health based on dominant functions, which is a multiobjective approach and is not based solely on natural river functions. The assessment method is appropriate for the socioeconomic development and management of river basins.
Malignant tumours of the vagina are very rare in children. The purpose of this study was to retrospectively analyse the clinical presentation, treatment, and outcome of vaginal tumours in children treated in a single institution.
This study retrospectively analysed the clinical data of children diagnosed with vaginal malignant tumours who were admitted to the Beijing Children's Hospital of Capital Medical University from January 2007 to December 2020 and followed these patients to observe their prognoses and outcomes.
During 13years, a total of 33 children were included in this study, including 13 children with rhabdomyosarcoma and 20 children with endodermal sinus tumours. The average age at diagnosis was 20.4months. The main clinical manifestations were vaginal bleeding and protruding masses. Of the 13 children with vaginal rhabdomyosarcoma, 12 were treated with multidrug chemotherapy combined with conservative tumour resection, and their tumours completely resolved; only one child underwent vaginectomy and hysterectomy. Twenty children with vaginal endodermal sinus received PEB chemotherapy. Among these patients, the tumour disappeared after chemotherapy in 12 children, and the remaining nodular tumour foci in 8 children were confirmed to be necrotic tissue by pathology.
Our research confirms that chemotherapy combined with conservative surgical treatment is effective for treating children with vaginal malignancies.

Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 is a novel positron emission tomography (PET) ligand that targets fibroblast activation protein (FAP) expression as FAP inhibitor (FAPI) and could already show promising results in several tumor entities. It could be demonstrated that an increased FAP expression correlates with tumor aggressivity in urothelial carcinoma (UC). Given the limited value of [
F]FDG in UC, [
Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 could add diagnostic information in staging and response assessment in UC. We present the first data of [
Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 PET imaging in a pilot cohort of UC patients evaluating uptake characteristics in metastases and primary tumors.
Fifteen patients with UC prior to or after local treatment underwent [
Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 PET/CT imaging for detection of metastatic spread. We compared the biodistribution in non-affected organs and tumor uptake of UC lesions by standard uptake value measurements (SUV
and SUV
). Additionally, metastatic sites on PET were compared to its morphological correlate on contrast-enhancfore, the tracer has potential as a promising new biomarker in metastatic UC patients, as [68Ga]Ga-FAPI-46 PET might improve detection of metastatic sites compared to CT alone. These findings highly emphasize larger studies investigating FAPI imaging in UC patients.Right ventricular (RV) volume overload occurs in patients with significant atrial septal defect (ASD II) shunts, which can impair left ventricle (LV) filling, thus decreasing LV indices. However, after ASD II closure, the left ventricle regains near normal dimensions. The purpose of this study was to compare the long-term outcomes of LV reverse remodeling between device and surgical closure. We retrospectively reviewed the echocardiographic data of 222 patients with isolated ASD II who underwent surgical (95 patients) or device closure (127 patients) between January 2012 and December 2017. The ASD II was significantly larger in the surgical closure group (p less then 0.001.) leading to a higher degree of paradoxical interventricular septal (IVS) movement. In contrast, the LV volume was larger in the device closure group (p less then 0.001). After a median follow-up period of 19.5 months, the maximum LV systolic and diastolic volumes were reached at 1 year in the device closure group and 2 years in the surgical closure group. IVS motion normalized in 91% of the device closure group compared to 57% of the surgical closure group (p = less then 0.001). There was significant improvement in left ventricular indices and IVS motion after ASD II closure in both groups but more favorable in patients after device closure. The field of pediatric ventricular assist device (VAD) support has expanded significantly over the past 20 years, with one third of pediatric heart transplant recipients currently being bridged to transplant with a VAD. OSMI-1 Despite increased pediatric VAD utilization, however, there remains little formalized guidance for patient or device selection. The population of children with advanced heart failure is quite heterogeneous, and the available data suggest that VAD outcomes vary significantly based upon patient size, anatomy, level of illness, and type of device implanted. In an effort to better understand current practice patterns and identify populations for whom there does not appear to be a consensus approach to achieving optimal VAD outcomes, the Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network (ACTION) has surveyed clinical decision-making among member sites and conducted a review of the available literature regarding patient population-specific VAD outcomes and center-specific practices related to patient and device selection. Rather than aiming to provide clinical guidelines, this document offers an overview of contemporary approaches to patient and device selection, highlighting specific populations for whom there is not a consensus approach to achieving reliably good VAD outcomes, as these populations may benefit most from future research and quality improvement efforts directed toward identifying best practice.
Although ondansetron was considered to prevent post-anesthesia shivering during cesarean section, its efficiency remained controversial. Our review was conducted to estimate the efficiency and safety of ondansetron in preventing post-anesthesia shivering during cesarean section.
The literature were searched from their inception to October 2020 without restriction of language. All randomized controlled trials investigating the efficacy of ondansetron versus placebo in preventing shivering during cesarean section under neuraxial anesthesia were included. The meta-analysis was conducted using Stata software.
Eleven randomized controlled studies with a total of 748 individuals were finally included in our meta-analysis. Our results manifested that intravenous ondansetron compared with intravenous placebo significantly reduced the incidence of post-anesthesia shivering (PAS) (RR 0.53, 95% CI 0.14-0.68). Subgroup analysis according todoses of ondansetron indicated that the efficacy of 4mg doses of ondansetron (RR 0.37, 95% CI 0.21-0.64)is equivalent to that of 8mg doses of ondansetron (RR 0.61, 95% CI 0.47-0.81) in preventing PAS. In addition, the intravenous ondansetron led to a lower incidence of hypotension than intravenous placebo (OR 0.47, 95% CI 0.32-0.70). We could not demonstrate differences in the incidence of bradycardia between intravenous ondansetron and intravenous placebo.
Our results found that intravenous ondansetron was effective in preventing shivering during cesarean section under neuraxial anesthesia, and had an advantage in reducing the incidence of hypotension compared with intravenous placebo.

As the area is inhabited, an in-depth investigation was carried out to assess the radioactivity levels and to evaluate the radiation exposure and radiological risks for the population. Samples of REE ore, soils, water and several foods locally produced were collected and analyzed by gamma spectrometry for determination of 232Th, 226Ra, and 40 K. Radon (222Rn and 220Rn) measurements were carried out in dwellings at the villages located near by the REE deposit area, and in Hanoi for comparison. Based on the measured radionuclide concentrations, several radiological parameters were calculated to evaluate the radiological risks for the population and to compare with worldwide values. Results indicate that the representative person of the most exposed group living near the REE deposits may receive a total annual effective dose as high as 37.9 ± 10.6 mSv, i.e., approximately 16 times the world average dose of 2.4 mSv y-1. Consequently, this area should be considered a high background radiation area. Exposure to external radiation and internal radiation from ingestion and inhalation of radionuclides were assessed separately. Radon inhalation contributed to approximately 70% of the total annual effective dose, with both radon isotopes contributing significantly, while the ingestion of local foods and water gave minor contributions to the total effective dose. Several measures were considered to improve the radiation safety and recommendations are given to relocate the most exposed members of the population.Alzheimer's disease is characterized by deposition of amyloid-beta plaques in the brain. Available pharmaceuticals provide temporary symptomatic relief without affecting disease progression. Use of radiation was found effective in treating extra-cranial amyloidosis, therefore, the present study was designed to investigate the neuroprotective role of fractionated X-irradiation in Aβ1-42-based rodent model of Alzheimer's disease. S.D. female rats were randomly divided into four groups sham control (Group 1), Aβ1-42 injected (Group 2), cranial X-irradiated (Group 3) and Aβ1-42 injected followed by cranial X-irradiation (Group 4). A single dose of 5 µL Aβ1-42 peptide was administered through intracerebroventricular (icv) injection in Group 2 and 4 animals, while Group 1 animals were administered 5 µL of bi-distilled water (icv). The group 4 animals were further subjected to 10 Gy X-irradiation (fractionated dose, 2 Gy × 5 days) after 4 weeks of Aβ1-42 infusion of peptide. The animals in Group 3 were subjected to same dose of cranial fractionated X-irradiation (2 Gy × 5 days) only. Significant decrease in amyloid deposits were observed in the Aβ1-42 + radiation-treated animals confirmed by histopathological analysis. These finding were in concordance with neurobehavioral tests that showed a significant improvement in Aβ1-42-induced memory impairment in the animals subjected to fractionated cranial X-irradiation. Restoration of alterations in neurochemical and antioxidant defense indices further supported our results. The present study highlights the underexplored role of fractionated X-irradiation in curtailing the Aβ1-42-induced neurotoxicity, suggesting a novel treatment option for Alzheimer's disease-associated pathologies.
