Anti-angiogenic therapy represents one of the most promising treatment modalities for human cancers. In utero closure of meningomyelocele using an open hysterotomy approach is associated with preterm delivery and adverse neonatal outcomes.
This study compared the neonatal outcomes in inutero meningomyelocele closure using a 2-port, exteriorized uterus, fetoscopic approach vs the conventional open hysterotomy approach.
This retrospective cohort study included all consecutive patients who underwent in utero meningomyelocele closure using open hysterotomy (n=44) or a 2-port, exteriorized uterus, fetoscopic approach (n=46) at a single institution between 2012 and 2020. The 2-port, exteriorized uterus, fetoscopic closure was composed of the following 3 layers a bovine collagen patch, a myofascial layer, and a skin. The frequency of respiratory distress syndrome and a composite of other adverse neonatal outcomes, including retinopathy of prematurity, periventricular leukomalacia, and perinatal death, were compared between the study groups. Regression analyses were performed to determine any association betweonal open hysterotomy meningomyelocele closure.

This study aimed to compare the short-term outcomes of infants born at term to women who received betamethasone for threatened preterm labor with infants who were not exposed to betamethasone in utero.
We performed a retrospective cohort study of infants born at or after 37 weeks' gestational age to mothers diagnosed as having threatened preterm labor during pregnancy. The primary neonatal outcomes of interest included transient tachypnea of the newborn, neonatal intensive care unit admission, and small for gestational age and were evaluated for their association with betamethasone exposure while adjusting for covariates using multiple logistic regression.

Endometrial cancer uncommonly presents at an advanced stage and little prospective evidence exists to guide the management thereof. We aimed to summarize the evidence about primary cytoreductive surgery in the treatment of advanced stage endometrial cancer.
MEDLINE, Embase, and Scopus databases were searched from inception to September 11, 2020, using search terms representing the themes "endometrial cancer," "advanced stage," and "primary cytoreductive surgery."
We included full-text, English reports that included ≥10 patients undergoing primary cytoreductive surgery for advanced stage endometrial cancer and that reported on the outcomes of primary cytoreductive surgery and survival rates based on the residual disease burden.

HCM mouse models suggest mutations in myofilament components to affect Ca2+ homeostasis and thereby favor arrhythmia development. Additionally, some of them show indications of pro-arrhythmic changes in cardiac electrophysiology. In this study, we explored arrhythmia mechanisms in mice carrying a HCM mutation in Mybpc3 (Mybpc3-KI) and tested the translatability of our findings in human engineered heart tissues (EHTs) derived from CRISPR/Cas9-generated homozygous MYBPC3 mutant (MYBPC3hom) in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and to left ventricular septum samples obtained from HCM patients. We observed higher arrhythmia susceptibility in contractility measurements of field-stimulated intact cardiomyocytes and ventricular muscle strips as well as in electromyogram recordings of Langendorff-perfused hearts from adult Mybp show higher spontaneous arrhythmic behavior, whereas action potentials measured by sharp microelectrode did not differ to isogenic controls. Action potentials measured in septal myectomy samples did not differ between patients with HCM and patients with aortic stenosis, except for the only sample with a MYBPC3 mutation. The data demonstrate that increased myofilament Ca2+ sensitivity is not sufficient to induce arrhythmias in the Mybpc3-KI mouse model and suggest that reduced K+ currents can be a pro-arrhythmic trigger in Hom-KI mice, probably already in early disease stages. However, neither data from EHTs nor from left ventricular samples indicate relevant reduction of K+ currents in human HCM. Therefore, our study highlights the species difference between mouse and human and emphasizes the importance of research in human samples and human-like models.
