In the last decades, catheter ablation of arrhythmias is rapidly evolving in Europe. Despite the high number of procedures performed, in some European countries, both the organization of the electrophysiology labs and the training of clinical electrophysiologists are still not completely effective and not in line with the standard recommendations of National Electrophysiology Societies. For these reasons, it is probably desirable for arrhythmia sections to become independent units in order to assure high quality and safety standards.
Interleukin-4 is proven to regulate bone metabolism. This study aimed to assess the effect of exogenous interleukin-4 on orthodontic relapse.
Bilateral maxillary first molars of 25 male Sprague Dawley rats were moved mesially for 3weeks using orthodontic appliances an activating force of 50g. After tooth movement, exogenous interleukin-4 was injected into the buccal and palatine sides of the right maxillary first molars (experimental group), and phosphate-buffered saline was injected at the same sites on the left side (negative control group). At the end of the study, the relapse distance between the mesial fissure of the first molar and the distal fissure of the second molar was measured. Three different histological stains were used to visualize the changes in the periodontium.
After interleukin-4 injection, the relapse distance significantly reduced. Time-dependent effects played a more important role than the dose-dependent effects, and there was no correlation between these factors. Tissue staining showed that interleukin-4 reduced osteoclastogenesis and promoted osteoblastogenesis.

Tc-HDP lesion uptake in pretreatment whole-body scans (WBSs) with lesion absorbed dose. Moreover, we looked for a possible correlation of
Tc-HDP lesion uptake in pretreatment WBSs and of lesion absorbed dose with relative change in the
Tc-HDP lesion uptake obtained from pre- and post-treatment WBSs in patients treated for mCRPC with six cycles of
Ra-Cl
.
Eleven patients received six cycles of 55kBq/kg of
Ra-Cl
separated by 4 weeks. In addition, one patient received concomitant treatment with abiraterone and two patients with enzalutamide. The
Tc-HDP WBSs were acquired before the first cycle and after the sixth cycle of the treatment. For the lesions with the higher
Tc-HDP uptake, the absorbed dose was calculated for the first cycle. Lesion volume was determined fr to personalize the performance of these treatments.Erythroferrone (ERFE) is the main erythroid regulator of hepcidin, the homeostatic hormone controlling plasma iron levels and total body iron. When the release of erythropoietin from the kidney stimulates the production of new red blood cells, it also increases the synthesis of ERFE in bone marrow erythroblasts. Increased ERFE then suppresses hepcidin synthesis, thereby mobilizing cellular iron stores for use in heme and hemoglobin synthesis. Recent mechanistic studies have shown that ERFE suppresses hepcidin transcription by inhibiting bone morphogenetic protein signaling in hepatocytes. In ineffective erythropoiesis, pathological overproduction of ERFE by an expanded population of erythroblasts suppresses hepcidin and causes iron overload, even in non-transfused patients. ERFE may be a useful biomarker of ineffective erythropoiesis and an attractive target for treating its systemic effects.
To investigate the clinical value of three-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (3D-STI) in evaluating left ventricular (LV) systolic function in patients with ovarian cancer (OC) treated with paclitaxel and carboplatin.
We studied 30 patients with OC treated with paclitaxel combined with carboplatin chemotherapy. Two-dimensional echocardiography and 3D-STI were performed in the patients before they underwent 2- and 6-cycle chemotherapies, and in 30 normal control subjects. Were measured LV end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), three-dimensional LV ejection fraction (3D-LVEF), stroke volume (SV), spherical index (SPI), LV end-diastolic mass (LV EDmass), LV end-systolic mass (LV ESmass), LV global longitudinal strain (GLS), global circumferential strain (GCS), global radial strain (GRS), global area strain (GAS) and cardiac troponin T(cTnT). At the end of chemotherapy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was also performed.

Testing the significance of statistical hypotheses is crucial in such analyses to get conclusive inference but the existing likelihood-based tests, under a fully parametric model, are extremely nonrobust against outliers in the data. Although there exists a few robust estimators given randomly censored data, there is hardly any robust testing procedure available in the literature in this context. One of the major difficulties here is the construction of a suitable consistent estimator of the asymptotic variance of robust estimators, since the latter is a function of the unknown censoring distribution. In this article, we take the first step in this direction by proposing a consistent estimator of asymptotic variance of the M-estimators based on randomly censored data without any assumption on the censoring scheme. We then describe and study a class of robust Wald-type tests for parametric statistical hypothesis, both simple as well as composite, under such a set-up.
