Replacement UPVC Door Handles
Find the perfect handle for your door, whether you're replacing your existing handles or adding security. These handles made of upvc are easy to install and will meet the 92mm minimum central distance for multipoint locks.
The backplate's fixing centre as well as the lever/keyhole dimensions are the most important measurements. Check these carefully against your existing measurements prior to placing an order.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles for doors consist of an elongated lever handle on one side and a paddle shaped handle on the other. These are designed for use with key wind locks. However they can be affixed to multipoint split spindle door locks.
Once you have selected the right handle for your doors, the finishes will be listed in the drop-down menu. Certain types of handles are not available in all finishes. Always look over the technical drawings and dimensions sections for the particular product you are looking for to ensure that you get the right fit and size.
It is essential to ensure that when you choose a new set of Upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the spindle of the handle to the centre of the hole in the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because these are required to be aligned for the doors to stay locked, regardless of whether you are viewing them from the outside or inside. Our handles are designed to fit a wide range of standard cylinders, however it is a good idea to double-check before ordering.
If you wish to upgrade to dual spindle levers, you will need to remove the existing handles and disassemble the lock case. This will require an extra split inline cylinder. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical illustration in the images of each product.
After you have removed the screws that hold the door handle you have, it is a good idea to loosen them and examine the mechanism to see how it's performing. You may need to loosen the screws a bit more in the event that they are not tight, and then you can take off the spindle and handle and replace it with a new door handle made of upvc. It is crucial to make sure that the handle is in the correct position before screwing it into place. You can do this by placing your finger between the door frame, and the handle to ensure that it's in the right position.
Lever/Lever
Lever door handles function as a multi point lock using an Euro cylinder and can be found on a majority of double doors made of upvc, aluminum doors and a few wooden doors. They have a lever inside and an outside paddle and are usually supplied in two varieties. Sprung - they have a spring cassette fitted inside the backplate to bring the handle lever to the horizontal position. Non-sprung - they do not have a spring mechanism and must be manually pulled to bring the handle lever to the horizontal position.
To fix a sagging lever door handle you must locate the detent access hole or pin, which is usually an elongated or rectangular shape hole or protruding pin located on one side of the base plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you are able to remove it with a screwdriver.
Once the handle is in a horizontal orientation, you can re-install the screws and tighten them until the handle remains secure on the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking product to the screw threads in order to increase grip and stop them from loosing over time.
Drooping lever handles on door handles could be the result of many factors. The most frequent reason is that the fixings have been too tightened, and are putting pressure on the lever bearing which causes it to become a bind on the door's surface. It could also be due to the fact that the levers aren't operated at a straight angle and this is compressing the latch mechanism and preventing it from fully springing back into action.
Another common cause is that the sprung lever is not functioning properly and this is typically due to the sprung not being in the proper position within the backplate. The easiest way to test this is to move the handle and see whether it returns to its horizontal position.
It is essential to repair any loose door handles immediately. This could lead to excessive wear on the screws, and the handle might be able to fall off the base plate. It is also a good idea to tighten all screws that are loose regularly, as this will help to prevent them from loosening.
Lever/Snib
These handles made of upvc are called "Snib handle sets" and feature a snib lock button at the top of the door lever. If you don't have a dummy locking device you can use this feature to secure the door. These handles come with the Fullex lock 68PZ. (68mm between spindle and lock centre). We also stock a variety of other door handles with 68PZ from various manufacturers, including Ferco and Fab & Fix.
You can update your home by changing your door handles whether you are replacing existing handles or installing new ones on doors that you constructed. There are a variety of styles of door handles made of upvc, including traditional lever on backplate, straight or curving short latches, and knob handles that resemble dummy knobs for multi-point locks, that are perfect for French doors.
Rose door handles are oval or circular versions of lever on backplate handles. These door handles are characterized by a lever or knob that is attached to the backplate. The backplate is removable for hidden fixing.
The handles are available in various finishes, including coloured and chrome finishes to match your door and other hardware, such as knobs hinges, and bolts. Some handles come with grub screws, which aid in the secure attachment of the lever or knob to the spindle. Other handles are supplied with bathroom spindles that can be used to operate bathroom locks. They feature a thumbturn turn as well as a release mechanism, which is ideal to use on doors for bathrooms.
door handle repair
If your uPVC front door handle is stuck in the open position, the cause will most likely be with the tubular latch. This can be caused by a number of things, but the most common is the lack of lubrication on the latch plate. This can be fixed quite easily by simply opening the door and spraying lubricant over the handle and lock. It could also be that the latch plate is separated from the backplate. This could be more problematic and would require a professional to repair.
A multipoint handle is the ideal solution to stuck door handles. These handles mount through the door's faceplate and are operated by a thumb turn knob or key that triggers an electronic cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a range of different sizes to fit various types of uPVC doors. They also come in a variety of attractive finishes to match the hardware you already have. The handles can be bought online or through the local locksmith and are easy to install with clear instructions.
To choose a replacement handle set, you'll be required to determine the PZ dimension of your cylinder. This is the distance from the edge of the frame of the door to the center point of the handle hole in millimetres. You will also need to be aware of whether your door has hook locks or a mortise style lock. The most effective way to locate the correct handles once you have the measurements is to use the brand filter on the website. This will narrow down the options, and you will then select the correct size from there.
A typical handle set includes the handle unit and a pair of different length screws, drill guides and installation instructions. Smarter versions, like the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ include a mortice lock with keypad. These are more complicated units and are best suited for professional installers or very skilled DIYers. Some handle sets include an array of other accessories, like weather strips, that can be used to improve the look of the door.
