To retrospectively compare the efficacy and safety of prostatic artery embolization (PAE) combined with transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and simple TURP in treating large (> 100mL) benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 13 and 17 patients with large BPH who underwent TURP and PAE + TURP, respectively, from January 2016 to January 2020. The changes in various indices before and after surgery were compared between the two groups.

In the PAE + TURP group, the operation time (OT), intraoperative blood loss (BL), postoperative bladder flushing time (PBFT), and postoperative catheter retention time (PCRT) were lower, and the speed of the excised lesion (SEL) was higher than that in the TURP group (P < 0.05). Following-up for 12months, the prostatic volume (PV), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), postvoid residual volume (PVR), International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), quality of life (QoL) score, total prostate-specific antigen (T-PSA), and free prostate-specific antigen (F-PSA) in each group improved as compared to before the surgery (P < 0.05), and the above improved indicators, IPSS ratio, and obstructive symptoms in the PAE + TURP group were higher than those in the TURP group (P < 0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications in the PAE + TURP group was lower than that in the TURP group. We obtained the pathological picture of a prostate biopsy after PAE for the first time.

Compared to TURP alone, PAE + TURP should be promoted, because of its greater efficacy and safety in treating large BPH and fewer post-surgical complications.

Encapsulating Peritoneal Sclerosis (EPS) is a rare phenomenon in paediatric patients with kidney failure treated with peritoneal dialysis (PD). This study highlights clinical challenges in the management of EPS, with particular emphasis on peri-operative considerations and surgical technique.

Retrospective analysis of all paediatric patients with EPS treated at the Manchester Centre for Transplantation.

Four patients were included with a median duration of 78months on PD. All patients had recurrent peritonitis (> 3 episodes), and all had symptoms within three months of a change of dialysis modality from PD to haemodialysis or transplant. In Manchester, care was delivered by a multi-disciplinary team, including surgeons delivering the adult EPS surgical service with a particular focus on nutritional optimisation, sepsis control, and wound management. The surgery involved laparotomy, lavage, and enterolysis of the small bowel + / - stoma formation, depending on intra-abdominal contamination. Two patienal abstract is available as Supplementary information.
This series demonstrates 100% survival and parenteral feed independence following EPS surgery. Post-operative morbidity was common; however, with individualised experience-based decision-making and relevant additional interventions, patients made full recoveries. Health and development post-surgery continued, allowing the potential for transplantation. A higher resolution version of the Graphical abstract is available as Supplementary information.
We aimed to elucidate the relationship between environmental exposure to lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), and cadmium (Cd) which were measured in blood and the kidney function of adolescents.

Cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2010 to 2017. Statistical procedures were performed to analyze the Korean population of adolescents aged 12-17years. Regression analysis was performed, and covariates included age, sex, body mass index, smoking status, and other heavy metal levels.

The median blood levels of Pb, Hg, and Cd were 1.165μg/dL, 1.805μg/L, and 0.304μg/L, respectively. Adolescents with Pb levels in the highest quartile (> 1.454μg/dL) had a 3.35mL/min/1.73 m
-lower estimated glomerular filtration rate using creatinine (eGFR
) (95% confidence interval (CI), -6.03 to -0.68mL/min/1.73 m
) compared to those in the lowest quartile (< 0.856μg/dL) in the unadjusted model. However, there was no association between the blood Pb level and eGFR
in the adjusted model. Levels of Hg and Cd were not associated with eGFR
in either model. High blood levels of all three heavy metals were not associated with the risk of hypertension.

There was no association between increased blood levels of Pb, Hg, and Cd; eGFR
; and increased risk of hypertension in Korean adolescents who were exposed to relatively low levels of heavy metals.

The typical motor symptoms have been associated with basal ganglia pathology. However, psychiatric and cognitive symptoms often precede the motor component and may be due to changes in the limbic system. Recent work has indicated pathology in the hypothalamus in HD but other parts of the limbic system have not been extensively studied. Emerging evidence suggests that changes in HD also include white matter pathology. Bcl-2 phosphorylation Here we investigated if the main white matter tract of the limbic system, the fornix, is affected in HD. We demonstrate that the fornix is 34% smaller already in prodromal HD and 41% smaller in manifest HD compared to controls using volumetric analyses of MRI of the IMAGE-HD study. In post-mortem fornix tissue from HD cases, we confirm the smaller fornix volume in HD which is accompanied by signs of myelin breakdown and reduced levels of the transcription factor myelin regulating factor but detect no loss of oligodendrocytes. Further analyses using RNA-sequencing demonstrate downregulation of oligodendrocyte identity markers in the fornix of HD cases. Analysis of differentially expressed genes based on transcription-factor/target-gene interactions also revealed enrichment for binding sites of SUZ12 and EZH2, components of the Polycomb Repressive Complex 2, as well as RE1 Regulation Transcription Factor. Taken together, our data show that there is early white matter pathology of the fornix in the limbic system in HD likely due to a combination of reduction in oligodendrocyte genes and myelin break down.
The present research work aims at deciphering the involvement of nitric oxide pathway and its modulation by ( ±)catechin hydrate in experimental paradigm of autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

An intracerebroventricular infusion of 4μl of 1M propanoic acid was given in the anterior region of the lateral ventricle to induce autism-like phenotype in male rats. Oral administration of ( ±)catechin hydrate (25, 50, and 100mg/kg) was initiated from the 3rd day lasting till the 28th day. L-NAME (50mg/kg) and L-arginine (800mg/kg) were also given individually as well as in combination to explore the ability of ( ±)catechin hydrate to act via nitric oxide pathway. Behavior test for sociability, stereotypy, anxiety, depression, and novelty, repetitive, and perseverative behavior was carried out between the 14th and 28th day. On the 29th day, animals were sacrificed, and levels of mitochondrial complexes and oxidative stress parameters were evaluated. We also estimated the levels of neuroinflammatory and apoptotic mark hydrate in restoring these alterations.
While relationships between working conditions, bullying and health issues have been proven, most studies have investigated these relationships in large enterprises (> 250 employees). Indeed, only a few studies have analyzed this issue in small firms, despite the fact that the latter differ from the former at multiple levels. Therefore, our objective was twofold to assess whether the size of a firm had an impact on the frequency of workplace bullying and to identify whether the effects of bullying on workers' health differed according to the size of the company.

Data from the 2010 SUMER French periodical cross-sectional survey were analyzed (N = 31,420 for the present study). Bullying at work was measured based on nine possible hostile attitudes derived from the French version of the Leymann Inventory of Psychological Terror. Two other questions measured colleague-to-colleague verbal violence and sexual or physical assaults. Anxious or depressive episodes were measured using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale (HAD). Other health issues were perceived health status, sickness absence (at least one absence lasting more than eight days), and work injuries.

Our findings show that bullying at work was less frequent in micro enterprises (< 10 employees). Anxiety/depression, perceived health status, sickness absence (at least one lasting more than eight days) were significantly associated with workplace bullying, but the effects of bullying were significantly higher in micro enterprises (statistical interaction).

This study highlights how a firm's size influences workplace bullying and, in particular, the prevalence and consequences of bullying in micro enterprises. The implication and guidelines for practice are discussed.

Here, we extend this concept to crop protection. Targeting odorant receptors from a crop pest insect, the noctuid moth Spodoptera littoralis, we demonstrate that reverse chemical ecology has the potential to accelerate the discovery of novel crop pest insect attractants and repellents. Using machine learning, we first predicted novel natural ligands for two odorant receptors, SlitOR24 and 25. Then, electrophysiological validation proved in silico predictions to be highly sensitive, as 93% and 67% of predicted agonists triggered a response in Drosophila olfactory neurons expressing SlitOR24 and SlitOR25, respectively, despite a lack of specificity. Last, when tested in Y-maze behavioral assays, the most active novel ligands of the receptors were attractive to caterpillars. This work provides a template for rational design of new eco-friendly semiochemicals to manage crop pest populations.Epithelioid osteoblastoma, sometimes equated with aggressive osteoblastoma, is a variant of osteoblastoma that typically demonstrates more worrisome imaging and pathological features compared to conventional osteoblastoma. These more aggressive features can overlap with those seen in osteosarcoma, creating a diagnostic challenge for radiologists and pathologists. Recent identification of FOS and FOSB gene rearrangements in osteoid osteoma and osteoblastoma has allowed for greater diagnostic confidence following biopsy, but careful radiological-pathological correlation remains a key component for guiding appropriate management. Although the imaging features of conventional osteoblastoma have been previously described, there are limited examples in the literature of the imaging appearance of epithelioid osteoblastoma, and none with secondary aneurysmal bone cyst. In this case report, we detail the clinical, imaging, and histological characteristics of a proximal femoral epithelioid osteoblastoma which was pathologically confirmed by FOS and FOSB genetic testing.
