Se aplicó una guía semiestructurada de entrevista que exploró barreras y facilitadores para llevar una dieta saludable y poder realizar actividad física. Las entrevistas se transcribieron y codificaron en Atlas Ti, generando 23 códigos temáticos. RESULTADOS existen barreras y facilitadores contextuales y sociales que predisponen un mayor riesgo de padecer sobrepeso y obesidad durante el embarazo. Destacan conocimientos limitados sobre una dieta saludable, condiciones de vulnerabilidad social, así como un sentido de fragilidad en las mujeres que incrementa su sedentarismo. CONCLUSIONES en el diseño e implementación de intervenciones en promoción de la salud es fundamental considerar las barreras y facilitadores culturales y socioeconómicas sobre alimentación saludable y actividad física durante el embarazo, para desarrollar intervenciones de salud pública que favorezcan una mayor prevención de sobrepeso y obesidad en mujeres embarazadas.Bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalate diesters are ubiquitous environmental contaminants. While these compounds have been reported as reproductive toxicants, their effects may partially be attributed to metabolites. The aim of this study was to examine reproductive organ development in chicken embryos exposed to the BPA metabolite, 4-methyl-2,4-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)pent-1-ene (MBP; 100 µg/g egg) or a human-relevant mixture of 4 phthalate monoesters (85 µg/g egg). The mixture was designed within the EU project EDC-MixRisk based upon a negative association with anogenital distance in boys at 21 months of age in a Swedish pregnancy cohort. Chicken embryos were exposed in ovo from an initial stage of gonad differentiation (embryonic day 4) and dissected two days prior to anticipated hatching (embryonic day 19). No discernible effects were noted on reproductive organs in embryos exposed to the mixture. MBP-treated males exhibited retention of Müllerian ducts and feminization of the left testicle, while MBP-administered females displayed a diminished the left ovary. In the left testicle of MBP-treated males, mRNA expression of female-associated genes was upregulated while the testicular marker gene SOX9 was downregulated, corroborating a feminizing effect by MBP. Implied in such assumptions is the idea that ENGOs are so-called boundary organizations brokering knowledge between science and environmental policy decision-making. link2 In this article, we challenge this belief. Through interviews, we have investigated the practices of ENGO employees as they acquire and assemble knowledge they need in their involvement with environmental policymakers. From their accounts, these ENGOs are not boundary organizations. Science is important but such knowledge was usually acquired indirectly and appeared to be seen as ubiquitous in the environmental policy community. We found that the knowledge practices were based on what we call rhizomic learning. We introduce this concept to highlight the complexity, opacity and non-linearity of the ways in which ENGO actors acquire and assemble environmental knowledge. We found that this rhizomic learning is characterized by five main features 1) diversity of sources and the importance of networks, 2) pragmatism, 3) opacity of the process, 4) community among involved actors, and 5) mediation. ENGO actors expected that their capacity for rhizomic learning - not the least the purposeful mediation and assembly of knowledge from a multitude of sources - would make them appear to policymakers as competent, relevant and reliable.To implement EU climate policy, the UK's New Labour government (1997-2010) elaborated an ecomodernist policy framework. It promoted technological innovation to provide low-carbon renewable energy, especially by treating waste as a resource. This framework discursively accommodated rival sociotechnical imaginaries, understood as visions of feasible and desirable futures available through technoscientific development. According to the dominant imaginary, techno-market fixes stimulate low-carbon technologies by making current centralized systems more resource-efficient (as promoted by industry incumbents). According to the alternative eco-localization imaginary, a shift to low-carbon systems should instead localize resource flows, output uses and institutional responsibility (as promoted by civil society groups). The UK government policy framework gained political authority by accommodating both imaginaries. As we show by drawing on three case studies, the realization of both imaginaries depended on institutional changes and material-economic resources of distinctive kinds. In practice, financial incentives drove technological design towards trajectories that favour the dominant sociotechnical imaginary, while marginalizing the eco-localization imaginary and its environmental benefits. The ecomodernist policy framework relegates responsibility to anonymous markets, thus displacing public accountability of the state and industry. These dynamics indicate the need for STS research on how alternative sociotechnical imaginaries mobilize support for their realization, rather than be absorbed into the dominant imaginary.This study examined the differences in single and consecutive jumps on ground reaction forces (GRF) as well as metatarsophalangeal (MTP), ankle and knee kinematics and kinetics during jumping take-off and landing. Eighteen basketball players performed countermovement jumps in both single and consecutive movement sessions. Synchronised force platform and motion capture systems were used to measure biomechanical variables during take-off and landing. link3 Paired t-tests (or Wilcoxon signed-rank tests) were performed to examine any significant differences regarding mean and coefficient of variation in each of the variables tested. A Holm-Bonferroni correction was applied to P-values to control the false discovery rate of 5%. The findings indicated that consecutive jumps had lower jump height, take-off velocity and landing impact. During take-off, consecutive jumps demonstrated larger peak MTP and ankle extension velocities, knee extension moments as well as larger values for ankle and knee power generation; During landing, the consecutive jumps had larger peak MTP flexion angle, joint velocities (MTP, ankle and knee), and peak knee flexion moments and power absorption. Additionally, consecutive jumps had higher within-trial reliability (i.e. smaller CV) for peak MTP flexion angle at landing (P less then 0.05), but lower reliability (i.e. higher CV) for peak knee flexion velocity and power absorption at landing. These results suggest that the consecutive jump trials led to distinct movement kinematics and higher loading responses in jump take-off and landing.We investigate the relationship between religious afterlife belief and fear of death in a Jewish population. Functionalist theories of religion often assert that afterlife belief serves as a buffer for death anxiety. Accordingly, those who attest to stronger, more orthodox, beliefs in an afterlife ought to indicate lower rates of death anxiety than those who do not have strongly held afterlife beliefs. From a wide-ranging survey of attitudes and experiences with death, we show that specific beliefs, intensity of belief, and orthodoxy of held beliefs play no significant role in the self-reported level of death anxiety in a Jewish population.Telomere length was found to be associated with omethoate exposure and polymorphisms in certain genes among occupational workers. However, whether the polymorphisms in telomere-binding protein genes influence telomere length remains unclear. To explore the correlation between telomere length and polymorphisms in telomere-binding protein genes, telomere length in peripheral blood leukocytes was determined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction in 180 omethoate-exposed workers and 115 healthy controls. Polymorphisms in 10 pairs of alleles were detected using flight mass spectrometry or polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique. The results showed that individuals with GG genotype in TRF1 rs3863242 had longer telomere lengths than those with AG + AA genotype in the control group (p = 0.005). The multiple regression analysis suggested that both omethoate exposure (b = 0.526, p less then 0.001) and TRF1 rs3863242 GG (b = 0.220, p = 0.002) were related to a longer telomere length. Social media has become one of the most influential platforms for various smoking cessation interventions. However, results from smoking cessation interventions have differed from study to study. Limited studies have summarised cessation outcomes from social media-based interventions. Therefore, the objective of this review is to explore the effectiveness of using social media for smoking cessation. METHODS We searched PubMed, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, and CINAHL for articles between June 2008 and June 2018, and also assessed the references of selected articles. We included studies that used social media as intervention platforms, provided a baseline assessment before the intervention, and provided smoking cessation outcomes after the intervention. RESULTS We identified 13 original studies that enrolled between 16 and 1698 participants; 7-day Point Prevalence Abstinence (PPA) rate we suggest embedding smoking cessation interventions within existing popular social media platforms.Improving antimicrobial prescribing is a difficult process often requiring labour-intensive, multi-modal interventions. Many hospitals have introduced ePrescribing systems but the effect on antimicrobial prescribing, without treatment choice decision support systems, has not been well described. We sought to determine whether the introduction of ePrescribing improved prescribing quality. Patient records for inpatients on four rehabilitation wards, two using ePrescribing and two using the National Medication Chart, during February 2017, were retrospectively reviewed to identify all antimicrobial prescriptions, which were then reviewed for quality. Documentation of indication was significantly better on ePrescribing wards (45/46, 98%) compared to National Medication Chart wards (47/59, 80%). Adherence to guidelines (32/46, 70% vs 33/59, 56%), appropriateness of therapy (42/46, 91% vs 50/59, 85%) and documentation of duration, stop or review dates (35/46, 76% vs 38/59, 64%) did not significantly differ. ePrescribing can improve the quality of antimicrobial prescribing when Antimicrobial Stewardship principles are used in system customisation but cannot address all factors impacting on prescribing quality.
