It is estimated that soil organic compounds with initial concentrations as those found today at the Mojave Desert would have been destroyed to levels less then 1 ppb at 0.1 m in depth in ∼2000 Myr. Pristine organic compounds are expected to be present at a depth of ∼1.5 m. These results are relevant for the search of organic compounds in past, present, and future missions to Mars. In particular, we predict that the upcoming ExoMars will encounter pristine organic compounds at this depth. This study estimates the burden of influenza in infants up to 12 months of age in Spain over 8 seasons (2009/10-2016/17). The survey was conducted by reviewing the Spanish Surveillance System for Hospital Data. Over the eight seasons, 5,618 hospital admissions were recorded for patients younger than 12 months that included codes related to influenza in any diagnostic position (487-488 ICD-9-CM and J9, J10 and J11 CIE 10). In total, 2,363 admissions (42.1%) were female patients whose median age was 3.05 months. Patients younger than 6 months accounted for 3,856 admissions (68.6%). Among them, 59.2% were male, and 40.8% were female (p less then .05). Overall, 37.1% (2,084 patients) were younger than 2 months. The hospitalization rate for the entire period studied was 156.09 admissions per 100,000 children under 12 months of age (95% CI 152.4-160.6). The average duration of hospitalization was 6.6 days (95% CI 6.4-6.8). Eighteen deaths were recorded for hospitalized patients over the entire period. Of these, 12 patients (66.7%) were younger than 6 months. There is a significant burden of influenza disease in children under 1 year of age in Spain, mainly in children under 6 months of age. Improvements to prevention strategies through increased vaccination coverage in family environments and vaccination strategies involving pregnant woman can contribute decisively and effectively to reducing these hospitalizations.
In lung cancer, unplanned hospital care is a significant driver of costs. While toxicities of cancer therapies are well-known, there are little data on their relative contribution to unplanned care. This study aims to (1) determine the relative impact of tyrosine-kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy, immune checkpoint inhibitor immunotherapy, and cytotoxic chemotherapy on unplanned hospital care and (2) identify potential strategies to prevent unplanned hospital encounters in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

A research database search of the electronic health record was used to identify 97 patients with established NSCLC who were undergoing either TKI therapy, immunotherapy, or chemotherapy at our institution and visited our emergency department (ED) in 2018. The resulting 173 ED encounters were reviewed to determine (1) the cause (cancer, therapy, other, or rule-out) of each encounter and (2) whether the encounter was preventable.

A small portion (9%) of all unplanned hospital encounters were therapy related (2% in the TKI therapy group, 12% in the immunotherapy group, and 21% in the chemotherapy group). Cancer itself was the leading cause (54%) of the encounters. Over 20% of all encounters were classified as preventable, and half of those encounters were deemed unnecessary.

TKI therapy, immunotherapy, and, to a lesser extent, chemotherapy are relatively small drivers of unplanned acute hospital care for patients with NSCLC. A significant share of unplanned hospital encounters may be prevented through proactive evidence-based initiatives.

Approximately 13% of the US population report mobility disability. People with mobility disability experience healthcare disparities, including lower rates of cancer screening and substandard cancer care compared with nondisabled people. We explored clinicians' reports of aspects of diagnosing and treating three common cancer types among persons with pre-existing mobility disability.

We used standard diagnosis codes and natural language processing to screen electronic health records (EHR) in the Research Patient Data Repository for patients with pre-existing chronic mobility impairment who were newly diagnosed with one of three common cancers (colorectal, prostate, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma) between 2005 and 2017. We eliminated numerous cases whose EHRs lacked essential information. We reviewed EHRs of 27 cases, using conventional content analysis to identify themes concerning their cancer diagnoses and treatments.

Clinicians' notations coalesced around four major themes (1) patients' health risks raise th mobility disability, further efforts to improve care quality and timeliness of diagnosis are warranted.
The COVID-19 outbreak rapidly became a public health emergency and led to radical changes in patient management. From the start of the pandemic, we used electronic medical record-assisted telephone follow-up (E-TFU) of cancer survivors (CS) to minimize hospital exposure. The aim of this prospective study was to assess how breast cancer survivors (bCSs) perceived E-TFU.

A 15-item survey was e-mailed to bCSs who had been managed with E-TFU. The responses were measured using Likert-like scales and were correlated with the main characteristics of the bCS using Pearson's test.

One hundred thirty-seven of 343 bCSs (40%) completed the survey between March 9 and June 2, 2020. Their median age was 59 years. Although 80.3% of bCSs were satisfied with E-TFU, only 43.8% would like to have E-TFU in the future. A low educational level was correlated with higher COVID-19-related anxiety (
= .025). An older age (
= .002) and a low educational level (
< .0001) were correlated with the need to be accompanied to reach the hospital. A personal history of second cancer was inversely correlated with understanding medical advice (
= .015) and the expectation of feeling relief after a follow-up visit (
= .0027). Furthermore, pandemic phase II was correlated with satisfaction with E-TFU (
= .010).

E-TFU was an important means of avoiding hospital contacts during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the majority of bCSs in the survey were satisfied with this procedure. Further studies are needed to investigate the implementation of telemedicine even outside an emergency situation.

To identify the reliable and consistent grey matter volume (GMV) abnormalities associated with major depressive disorder (MDD), we excluded the influence of confounding clinical characteristics, comorbidities and brain degeneration on brain morphological abnormalities by inclusion of non-comorbid and non-geriatric drug-naïve MDD individuals experiencing first episode depressive.

The PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct and Google scholar databases were searched for papers published in English up to April 2020.

A total of 21 voxel based morphometric (VBM) studies comparing 845 individuals in the first depressive episode and medication-naïve with 940 healthy control subjects were included. The results showed a grey matter volumes reductions in the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), prefrontal cortex (PFC), frontal and temporal gyri, temporal pole, insular lobe, thalamus, basal ganglia, cerebellum, hippocampus, cingulate cortex, and amygdala. In addition, increased grey matter volumes in the postcentralmes with symptom onset.
Access to green space has been hypothesized to have a beneficial impact on children's mental well-being and cognitive development. The underlying mechanisms of the mental health benefits of green space are not fully understood, but different pathways have been suggested, such as the psychologically restoring capacities of green space, the ability to facilitate physical activity and social cohesion, and the mitigation of exposure to air pollution.

In this nationwide cohort study, we investigated associations between residential green space in early childhood and a clinical diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The cohort included individuals, who were born in Denmark between 1992 and 2007 (

Our findings suggest that lower levels of green space in residential surroundings, during early childhood, may be associated with a higher risk of developing ADHD. https//doi.org/10.1289/EHP6729.

The aim was to assess cognitive functions and their relation to depressive symptoms in elders with LLD, previously depressed, and patients without the history of depressive episodes. The study consisted of 824 older adults who underwent a neuropsychological evaluation (97 currently depressed, 114 previously depressed and 613 patients without the history of depressive episodes). LLD patients performed poorer in ACE-III and AVLT and poorer in TMT-B than those previously depressed and never depressed. The LLD group also performed significantly poorer than the previously depressed on Digit Span Forward. Results of a multiple regression analysis indicated that performance on measures of executive functioning was associated with depression severity in LLD (β =.227, P =.024). The results of this study suggest that executive functions are the most impaired in the elderly with LLD. Furthermore, there is a relationship between executive dysfunction and the severity of depression in LLD. Executive dysfunction appears to be the core neurocognitive deficit in LLD.Aim We aimed to identify that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in ischemia-reperfusion (IR)-induced late fibrosis of kidney and may constitute novel therapeutic strategies for acute kidney injury-induced chronic kidney disease. Materials & methods We performed the mouse model of IR later induced renal fibrosis and analyzed lncRNA profiles using second-generation sequencing during the pathogenesis. Results The expression levels of 43 lncRNAs and 141 lncRNAs were respectively changed significantly 7 days and 2 weeks after IR treatment. Based on the correlation analysis of the differentially expressed genes, the interaction networks of lncRNAs, miRNAs and mRNA were structured. Conclusion LncRNA (Gm12840) could act as a sponge for miR-677-5p to mediate fibroblast activation induced by TGF-β1 via the WISP1/PKB (Akt) signaling pathway.
