This research explores the experiences of adult daughters who sustain this arrangement as well as managing the competing demands of their lives. Using a qualitative approach, semistructured interviews were conducted between March and October 2017. Eight adult females in the United Kingdom who were supporting a parent with dementia to remain living in their home were interviewed. Photo-elicitation was used as an aid to data collection and complemented the use of Thematic Analysis (TA) to analyse verbatim transcripts. Four themes were identified (a) Impact on identity impact of the participants' experience on their sense of identity; (b) Continuity and change relationship redefinition and duality of roles; (c) Stepping up to the challenge adjustment to and coping with competing demands and ethical dilemmas; and (d) Finding help 'It is just a minefield' experiences of help-seeking and service provision. This study highlights the experiences and challenges for adult daughters who support a parent with dementia. Ethical dilemmas regarding autonomy and safeguarding concerns figure large along with the competing demands of multiple roles. Service providers should aim to be more proactive in offering timely practical and psychosocial support and guidance to avoid compassion fatigue and acknowledge the valuable unpaid service provided by these 'women in the middle'.Evidence exists relating to music-based initiatives and positive health outcomes for people living with dementia who can access them. Yet, knowledge about the impact of 'music-making' on the well-being of community-dwelling people with dementia is limited. Much of the existing evidence about the benefits of music is focused on care home settings where initiatives can be readily applied as part of a weekly schedule of activities. Therefore, this initiative aimed to provide opportunities to participate in music-making, to increase social interaction and ultimately well-being in a community environment. Ten music-making session were scheduled for community-dwelling people living with dementia and care-partners, once a month between September 2019 and March 2020. Three sessions did not take place due to Covid19. Eighteen participants consented to take part including seven people living with dementia, five care-partners and six former care-partners. Baseline semi-structured interviews explored the lived experience of music and expectations of the upcoming music-making cafes. Self-report questionnaires captured 'in the moment' experiences of each music-making cafe. Follow-up semi-structured interviews explored the impact of music-making on participants' self-reported well-being. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysed thematically. The findings demonstrate that participating in the music-making café benefitted the self-reported well-being of participants in three ways first, a sense of camaraderie that enabled the facilitation of connections with others; second, creating opportunities to 'level the playing field' by always assuming a person's strengths and abilities; and third, group participation in music-making meets a need for meaningful musical experiences. Less is known about health workers' attitudes and concerns around providing care to people living with hepatitis B virus (HBV), which is concerning as research indicates that negative attitudes may impact on the quality of care provided to these populations, with adverse health outcomes for clients. The aim of this paper is to examine health and medical workers' concerns about providing care to people living with HBV, and the factors that may influence these concerns. Australian health and medical workers (n = 551) completed an online survey measuring their concerns about providing care to people living with HBV, stigmatising attitudes towards this group, perceived comfort of themselves and colleagues in providing care towards clients with HBV, and witnessing their colleagues behaviour in a discriminatory way towards clients with HBV. Multiple regression was used to ascertain factors predictive of health workers' concerns about working with clients with HBV. Results showed that older participants and those who had spent less time working in the health and medical field had greater concerns about caring for people living with HBV. Workers who did not know someone living with HBV, who were less comfortable around clients with HBV, who perceived their colleagues to be less comfortable working with clients with HBV, and who had more negative attitudes towards this group also had greater concerns around providing care to people living with HBV. Efforts should be made to improve health and medical workers' attitudes towards working with people with HBV. This may also improve workers' level of comfort with people with HBV and reduce the reported reticence they have towards working with this client group.Fracture risk is increased in type 1 diabetes (T1D). Diabetic neuropathy might contribute to this increased risk directly through effects on bone turnover and indirectly through effects on balance, muscle strength, and gait. We compared patients with T1D with (T1DN+, n = 20) and without (T1DN-, n = 20) distal symmetric sensorimotor polyneuropathy and controls (n = 20). We assessed areal bone mineral density (aBMD) and appendicular muscle mass by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, microarchitecture by high-resolution peripheral quantitative tomography at the standard ultra-distal site and at an exploratory 14% bone length site at the tibia and radius, bone turnover markers, and muscle strength, gait, and balance by Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB). At the standard ultra-distal site, tibial cortical porosity was 56% higher in T1DN+ compared with T1DN- (p = .009) and correlated positively with the severity of neuropathy (Toronto Clinical Neuropathy Score; r = 0.347, p = .028) and negatively with nerve coskeletal and non-skeletal contributions. © 2021 The Authors. For peripheral artery disease (PAD), MR angiography (MRA) is a well-established diagnostic modality providing morphologic and dynamic information comparable to digital subtraction angiography (DSA). However, relatively large amounts of contrast agents are necessary to achieve this.

To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of time-resolved 4D MR-angiography with interleaved stochastic trajectories (TWIST-MRA) by using maximum intensity projections (MIPs) of dynamic images acquired with reduced doses of contrast agent.

DSA was available in 14 patients (256 artery segments) and used as reference standard. Three-segmental MIP reconstructions of TWIST-images after administration of 3 mL of gadolinium-based contrast agent (Gadoteridol/Prohance®, 0.5 M) per anatomical level (pelvis, thighs, and lower legs) yielded 256 artery segments for correlation between MRA and DSA.
