Other low-harm interventions such as lifestyle and dietary advice, should also be better integrated into care at an early stage. Multidisciplinary care management programmes (including dietary, weight loss, exercise and behavioural intervention) should be developed to promote greater self-management and take advantage of the general shift toward the use of remotely accessed health care resources.

Grapefruit peels (GFPs) are underutilized cultivar wastes with wide range of therapeutic potentials which have been attributed to their antioxidant behavior and phenolic contents' abilities to effectively inhibit enzymatic activities and manage endothelial dysfunction in cardiovascular disorders. This study aims to investigate the erectogenic potentials of GFP extract in a rat model of paroxetine-induced ED. Experimental rats were sectioned into five groups [1 control; 2 paroxetine (10 mg/kg); 3 paroxetine + sildenafil (5 mg/kg); 4 paroxetine + GFP (50 mg/kg); 5 paroxetine + GFP (100 mg/kg)] and treated for 28 days. Sexual behavior of rats was assessed and effect of GFP on ecto-5' nucleotidases, phosphodiesterase-5, and adenosine deaminase (ADA) activities was determined in rats' penile tissues. The levels of malondialdehyde, nitric oxide (NO) as well as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase activities wnce of bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and phenolic acids. Therefore, exploring the erectogenic potentials of the peels will translate to conversion of the wastes to therapeutic products.
The clinical features of terlipressin-induced ischemic skin necrosis are unknown. The purpose of this study is to explore the clinical features of terlipressin-induced skin necrosis.

We searched Chinese and English databases to collect case reports of terlipressin-induced skin necrosis for retrospective analysis.

A total of 42 patients (31 males and 11 females) from 35 studies were included, with a median age of 54 years (range 0.17-84). The onset of skin ischemia ranged from a few hours to 21 days. The most common clinical manifestations were bulla (15 cases, 35.7%), cyanosis (12 cases, 28.6%), necrosis (11 cases, 26.2%), and purpura (10 cases, 23.8%). The following were often affected the legs (26 cases), 61.9%), abdomen (13, 31.0%), scrotum (10 cases, 23.8%), feet (10 cases, 23.8%), upper extremities (8 cases, 19.0%), and hands (7 cases, 16.7%). Skin biopsy showed fibrin thrombus (7 cases, 38.9%), nonspecific inflammation (6 cases, 33.3%), and necrosis (10 cases, 55.6%). After discontinuation of terlipressin, skin symptoms improved in most patients.

Although the physical or mental symptoms of neurodegenerative disease may be relieved by various treatment combinations, there are currently no strategies to directly slow or prevent neurodegeneration. Given the demographic evidence of a rapidly growing aging population and the associated prevalence of these common neurodegenerative diseases, it is paramount to develop safe and effective ways to protect against neurodegenerative diseases. Most neurodegenerative diseases share some common etiologies such as oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction. Genistein is an isoflavone found in soy products that have been shown to exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammation, and estrogenic properties. Increasing evidence indicates the protective potential of genistein in neurodegenerative disorders. In this review, we aim to provide an overview of the role that genistein plays in delaying the development of neurodegenerative disease. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS Genistein is a naturally occurring isoflavone found mainly in soybean, but also green peas, legumes, and peanuts. Genistein is found to pass through the blood-brain barrier and possess a neuroprotective effect. In this review, we discuss studies in support of these actions and the underlying biological mechanisms. Together, these data indicate that genistein may hold neuroprotective effects in either delaying the onset or relieving the symptoms of neurodegenerative disease.
This study was designed to determine the status of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in women with anorexia nervosa (AN) and to assess the efficacy of DHEA supplementation as a treatment for bone health in women with AN.

Studies were retrieved from the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, and Scopus databases from inception to February 14, 2022. Observational studies that compared serum DHEA levels between women with AN and healthy controls were included for meta-analysis, and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the effects of DHEA supplementation on bone mass were reviewed.

Meta-analysis of 15 cross-sectional studies revealed that patients with AN had significantly elevated serum DHEA levels (mean difference (MD)=311.63 ng/dl; 95% confidence interval (CI), 78.01-545.25) and reduced DHEAS levels (MD=-24.90 μg/dl; 95% CI, -41.72 to -8.07) compared with healthy controls. A systematic review of seven RCTs found that DHEA monotherapy does not improve bone mineral density (BMD) compared withcause of a potential detrimental effect on bone mineral density in young patients with anorexia nervosa.

For this, we calculated the Gibbs free energy of dissociation of 120 organic acids (nine acrylic acids, 87 benzoic acids, nine phenols, and 15 benzenesulfonamides) using COSMO-RS at the two levels BP-TZVP and BP-TZVPD-FINE and determined the parameters for a linear free energy relation for the pKa prediction by performing linear fits to experimental values. Our results suggest that the data set dissects into two groups, with the phenols being different from the other three subsets. The acrylic and benzoic acids and the sulfonamides can be treated together and yield an excellent linear correlation ( r2>0.95 ) with an RMSD of only ~0.3. The slope is found to be significantly smaller than the theoretical value ( 1/RTln10 ), only 45% of it, which is in accordance with findings in the literature. The phenols, however, while similarly well correlated in their own subset with an RMSD of 1.7-1.9, exhibit a slope larger than one. This study aimed to assess the effects of 10 weeks of aerobic training (AT) and dill extract (DE) on miR-33 and miR-223 expression of liver in high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obese rats. Forty male Wistar rats were fed a defined high-fat (n = 32) and standard (n = 8, nonobese control [NC]) diet. After obesity induction, obese rats were randomly allocated to four groups AT, DE, AT + DE, and obese control (OC). Rats were euthanized and plasma and liver tissue samples were collected after the intervention. The liver expression of miR-33 was lower in the AT, DE, AT + DE, and NC groups compared with the OC group. Also, the liver miR-223 expression was higher in the AT, DE, AT + DE, and NC groups compared with the OC group. Moreover, the liver expression of miR-223 in the AT + DE group was higher compared with the AT and DE groups. The AT, DE, AT + DE, and NC groups had lower liver TC compared with the OC group. Also, the plasma level of apolipoprotein B (Apo B) was significantly lower, and liver HDL-C was significantly higher in the AT + DE and NC groups compared with the OC group. These findings show that long-term AT combined with the intake of DE may improve the plasma levels of Apo B, and TC and HDL-C levels in the liver, which is probably due to AT and DE positive effects on miR-33 and miR-223 in the liver of obese rats. We used an integrated approach combining pharmacological and non-pharmacological as a medical strategy to prevent HFD-induced metabolic injury in obese rats. The present results discovered that a combination of AT + DE intervention improves the miR-33 and miR-223 in the liver of obese rats.
