Rational design and controllable synthesis of metal-organic frameworks nanosheets is critical for electrochemical catalysis. Herein, a carnation-like ZIF-9 nanostructure made of nanosheets is grown on nickel foam (ZIF-9/NF) by a simple one-step solvothermal method, the morphology evolution and the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution properties have been investigated by controlling the solvothermal time. The binder-free ZIF-9-d/NF (60 h, solvothermal time is 60 h) electrode delivers efficient electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction activity with low overpotentials of 312 and 337 mV at 50 and 100 mA cm-2, respectively. Furthermore, ZIF-9-d/NF (60 h) exhibits excellent stability without obvious attenuation for at least 30 h at 200 mA cm-2. The excellent performances can be attributed to the combination of the highly exposed active sites in the ZIF-9-d nanosheets, as well as the effective electron conduction and mass transfer. This work provides much possibilities for ZIF-9 nanosheets as binder-free electrode for electrocatalyst.Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting seeks to unlock the rapid generation of complex tissue constructs, but long-standing challenges with efficientin vitromicrovascularization must be solved before this can become a reality. Microvasculature is particularly challenging to biofabricate due to the presence of a hollow lumen, a hierarchically branched network topology, and a complex signaling milieu. All of these characteristics are required for proper microvascular-and, thus, tissue-function. While several techniques have been developed to address distinct portions of this microvascularization challenge, no single approach is capable of simultaneously recreating all three microvascular characteristics. In this review, we present a three-part framework that proposes integration of existing techniques to generate mature microvascular constructs. First, extrusion-based 3D bioprinting creates a mesoscale foundation of hollow, endothelialized channels. Second, biochemical and biophysical cues induce endothelial sprouting to create a capillary-mimetic network. Third, the construct is conditioned to enhance network maturity. Across all three of these stages, we highlight the potential for extrusion-based bioprinting to become a central technique for engineering hierarchical microvasculature. We envision that the successful biofabrication of functionally engineered microvasculature will address a critical need in tissue engineering, and propel further advances in regenerative medicine andex vivohuman tissue modeling.Objective. Brachytherapy (BT) dose prescriptions for locally advanced cervical cancer are made with account for the radiobiological parameters,α/βratio and halftime of repair (T1/2). However, a wide range of parameter values has been reported which can challenge commonly held equivalencies between dose prescriptions. This is the first reported study that aims to develop anin vitroexperimental technique using clinical high-dose-rate (HDR) and pulsed-dose-rate (PDR) Ir-192 brachytherapy afterloaders to quantify these parametersin vitroand to contextualize findings within contemporary practice.Approach. To efficiently quantifyα/βandT1/2,in vitroexperiments more reflective of clinical BT practice than traditional clonogenic survival assays were developed and applied to four squamous cell carcinoma cell lines (CaSki, C-33A, SiHa, and SW756). Radiation was delivered using single acute and fractionated dose treatments with a conventional irradiator and clinical HDR and PDR BT afterloaders. For the latter, a novelbraed a novel method for radiobiological research in BT.We demonstrate theoretically the possibility of spinodal de-wetting in heterostructures made of light-atom liquids (hydrogen, helium, and nitrogen) deposited on suspended graphene. Extending our theory of film growth on two-dimensional (2D) materials to include analysis of surface instabilities via the hydrodynamic Cahn-Hilliard-type equation, we characterize in detail the spatial and temporal scales of the resulting spinodal de-wetting patterns. Both linear stability analysis and direct numerical simulations of the surface hydrodynamics show micron-sized (generally material dependent) patterns of 'dry' regions. The physical reason for the development of such instabilities on graphene can be traced back to the inherently weak van der Waals interactions between atomically thin materials and atoms in the liquid. Thus 2D materials could represent a new theoretical and technological platform for studies of spinodal de-wetting.Within two studies,kQfactors for two Farmer-type ionization chambers have been experimentally determined by means of water calorimetry in the entrance channel (EC) of a monoenergetic carbon-ion beam (Osinga-Blättermannet al2017Phys. Med. Biol.622033-54) and for a passively modulated spread-out Bragg peak (SOBP) (Holmet al2021Phys. Med. Biol.66145012). Both studies were performed at the Heidelberg Ion Beam Therapy Center (HIT) using the PTB portable water calorimeter but applying different initial beam energies of 429 MeV u-1for the EC and 278 MeV u-1for the SOBP as well as different scanning patterns of the irradiated field. Comparing their results revealed differences between the experimentalkQfactors of up to 1.9% between the EC and the SOBP. To further investigate this unexpected difference, we performed additionalkQdeterminations for the EC of an 278 MeV u-1monoenergetic carbon-ion beam and reevaluated the original data of Osinga-Blättermannet al(2017Phys. Med. Biol.622033-54). This new experimental data indicated no difference between thekQfactors for the EC and the SOBP and the reevaluation led to a substantial reduction of the originally publishedkQfactors for the EC of the 429 MeV u-1beam (Osinga-Blättermannet al2017Phys. Med. Biol.622033-54). Finally, no significant difference between the data for the EC and the data for the SOBP can be found within the standard measurement uncertainty of experimentalkQfactors of 0.8%. The results presented here are intended to correct and replace thekQdata published by Osinga-Blättermannet al(2017Phys. Med. Biol.622033-54) and in Osinga-Blättermann and Krauss (2018Phys. Med. Biol.64015009).
We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to estimate the prevalence of SIBO in diabetic patients and to determine the association between SIBO and diabetes.
A comprehensive literature search of the PubMed, Cochrane Library and EMBASE databases from inception to June 2021 was conducted for studies correlating SIBO with diabetes. Studies were screened, and relevant data were extracted and analysed. The pooled prevalence of SIBO among diabetic patients and the odds ratio of SIBO among diabetic patients compared with controls were calculated.
Fourteen studies including 1417 diabetic patients and 649 controls met the inclusion criteria. The pooled prevalence of SIBO in diabetes was 29% (95% CI 20-39%). Hydroethidine The odds ratio of SIBO in diabetic patients was 2.91 (95% CI 0.82-10.32, p=0.1) compared with controls. Subgroup analyses showed that the prevalence of SIBO in diabetes was higher in studies using jejunal aspirate culture for diagnosis (39%, 95% CI 12-66%) than in those using the lactulose breath aspirate culture or those in Western populations.
Binge eating is a subjective loss of control while eating, which leads to the consumption of large amounts of food. It can cause significant emotional distress and is often accompanied by purging behaviors (eg, meal skipping, overexercising, or vomiting).
The aim of this study was to explore the potential of mobile sensing to detect indicators of binge-eating episodes, with a view toward informing the design of future context-aware mobile interventions.
This study was conducted in 2 stages. The first involved the development of the DeMMI (Detecting Mental health behaviors using Mobile Interactions) app. As part of this, we conducted a consultation session to explore whether the types of sensor data we were proposing to capture were useful and appropriate, as well as to gather feedback on some specific app features relating to self-reporting. The second stage involved conducting a 6-week period of data collection with 10 participants experiencing binge eating (logging both their mood and episodes of bingendations for future studies wishing to scale our approach and for the design of bespoke mobile interventions to support this population.A series of 2-Aryl-4-Bis-amide Imidazoles (ABAI-1 to 30) were designed as anti-inflammatory agents. These compounds were synthesized and evaluated for the in vitro anti-inflammatory activities (inhibition of NO production and release of inflammatory cytokines). Several compounds effectively inhibited NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced RAW264.7 cells. Among them, ABAI-30 exhibited the highest NO-inhibitory effect (inhibition rate of 87% at 20 μM). The anti-inflammatory mechanism of ABAI-30 was examined and found to be inhibiting the TLR4-pp65 and NLRP3-caspase-1 signaling pathway, thus leading to the downregulation of IL6, IL-1β and TNFα at both transcriptional and translational levels. Importantly, ABAI-30 demonstrated high in vivo anti-inflammatory efficacy in a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis mouse model without causing obvious toxicity. Collectively, our study provides a potent anti-inflammatory agent, which deserves further investigation as a novel therapeutic candidate for treating inflammatory bowel diseases.
This study characterized alcohol consumption behaviors among adult cancer survivors and determined how these behaviors compared with cancer-free individuals using NHANES data (1999-2016).
Adjusted odds ratios (aOR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated using multinomial logistic regression for the association between cancer survivors vs cancer-free individuals and odds of drinking status (former/current/never drinkers), accounting for demographic and socioeconomic factors. Among current drinkers, multivariable logistic regression was used to calculate the aORs for binge drinking and exceeding moderate drinking.
A total of 3113 survivors and 39,527 cancer-free individuals were included. Cancer survivors were less likely to be current drinkers (63.4% vs. 72.6% in cancer-free) and were more likely to be former drinkers (24.4% vs. 15.5% in cancer-free). Cancer survivors had significant lower odds of being current vs. never drinkers (aOR, 0.84, 95% CI 0.71-0.99). By cancer types, cervical cancer survivors were more likely to be binge drinkers (aOR, 2.51, 95% CI 1.27-4.92), particularly among women aged ≥55 years (aOR, 6.90, 95% CI 1.28-37.3).
Given the high odds of binge drinking among cervical cancer survivors, public health strategies are needed to reduce alcohol consumption in this group.

Although it has been frequently examined in the general population as a measure of vulnerability to psychotic disorder, empirical evidence on AS in prodromal phases of psychosis is still relatively scarce. Thus, the aims of this research were (1) to investigate any significant association of AS with functioning, psychopathology and treatment components of an "early intervention in psychosis" program in a sample of young community help-seekers at Ultra-High Risk (UHR) of psychosis along a 1-year follow-up period, and (2) to longitudinally monitor the stability of AS across the 1 year of follow-up. Participants (87 UHR), aged 13-35 years, completed the Aberrant Salience Inventory (ASI), the Comprehensive Assessment of At-Risk Mental States (CAARMS) and the brief version of the Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire (SPQ-B) at baseline and after the 1 year of follow-up. Spearman correlation analyses among psychopathological parameters and specialized treatment components were performed.
