6 μW cm-2 under the applied mechanical force of 10 N, respectively. The self-charging behavior of the device showed that it can store 1.5 × 10-3 mC within 100 s without resorting to a rectifier. We obtained the total energy density of about 10.34 mW h kg-1 under palm impact. Our results present a step forward in the development of the NG and SC-based flexible and self-charging devices.Methane is a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Hence, effectively removing the low concentration ( less then 1000 ppm) of methane in the environment is an issue that deserves research in the field of catalysis. In this study, oxygen-magnesium bivacancies are simultaneously imbedded into MgO by designing an in situ reduction combustion atmosphere for oxygen release and substituting magnesium with carbon to induce the formation of magnesium vacancies. The DFT calculations reveal that the surface electron density of MgO is improved by the oxygen vacancy structure and the substitution of Mg by C in bulk; this accelerates migration of the charge from the material surface to the adsorbed oxygen species, which leads to abundant surface peroxide species that enable activation and oxidation of methane at a low temperature (below 200 °C). This work could provide a concept for developing non-noble or transition metal oxides for low-temperature activation and conversion of alkanes in the thermocatalytic field through reactive oxygen species.The astrophysical phenomenon of mimetic helical magnetic field (hB)-assisted self-assembly is herein introduced to build helical superstructures that display chiroptical properties. As a building block, magnetoplasmonic (MagPlas) Ag@Fe3O4 core-shell nanoparticles are used to guide plasmonic Ag nanoparticles onto a helical magnetic flux. The chirality of the assembled helical structures and tailored circular dichroism are successfully tuned in real time, and the handedness of the assembled structures is dynamically switched by the hB at the millisecond level, which is at least 6000-fold faster than other template-assisted methods. The peak position of circular dichroism can be reconfigured by altering the plasmonic resonance or coupling by controlling the size of the Ag core and magnetic flux density. The hB-induced chirality modulation represents a method to control the polarization state of light at the nexus of plasmonics, magnetic self-assembly, colloidal science, liquid crystals, and chirality. It presents active and dynamic chiral assemblies of magnetoplasmonic nanomaterials, enabling further practical applications in optical devices.Cell trackers are fluorescent chemical tools that facilitate imaging and tracking cells within live organisms. Despite their versatility, these dyes lack specificity, tend to leak outside of the cell, and stain neighboring cells. Here, we report a dual-activatable cell tracker for increased spatial and temporal staining control, especially for single-cell tracking. This probe overcomes the typical problems of current cell trackers off-target staining, high background signal, and leakage from the intracellular medium. Staining with this dye is not cytotoxic, and it can be used in sensitive primary cells. Etomoxir Moreover, this dye is resistant to harsh fixation and permeabilization conditions and allows for multiwavelength studies with confocal microscopy and fluorescence-activated cell sorting. Using this cell tracker, we performed in vivo homing experiments in mice with primary splenocytes and tracked a single cell in a heterogeneous, multicellular culture environment for over 20 h. These experiments, in addition to comparative proliferation studies with other cell trackers, demonstrated that the signal from this dye is retained in cells for over 72 h after photoactivation. We envision that this type of probes will facilitate the analysis of single-cell behavior and migration in cell culture and in vivo experiments.BACKGROUND We proposed a new tool (named ROMe's) to summarize long-term outcomes after partial nephrectomy (PN), identified its predictors and generated a predicting nomogram. METHODS A retrospective analysis of a multicenter dataset of patients with non-metastatic pT1-3a renal cell carcinoma was performed. Baseline demographic, clinical, pathologic and perioperative data were collected. ROMe's was defined as the concomitant lack of cancer- recurrences, death and newly onset Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), at long term follow-up. Kaplan-Meier method investigated the predictive role of Trifecta on ROMe's achievement. Univariable and multivariable Cox regression analyses identified its predictors. A nomogram was generated and its accuracy was quantified using concordance index (CI). A calibration plot was obtained with 200 bootstraps resampling to explore nomogram performance at 5 years and decision curve analyses (DCA) assessed the net benefit of the model at 12, 36 and 60 months. RESULTS We included 927 patients. The rates of ROMe's were 82%, 72% and 56% at 1, 3 and 5 years follow-up. At Kaplan-Meier analysis, patients who achieved Trifecta displayed a significantly higher probability of ROMe's (log rank p 30%. CONCLUSIONS We conceived a triad to summarize the main long-term oncologic and functional outcomes after PN and generated a predicting nomogram.INTRODUCTION Chronic obstruction and stones formation are common in pelvic ectopic kidney (PEK) and stone treatment in such conditions can be challenging. Aim of this systematic review is to examine all the available active treatment modalities for PEK stones in order to critically appraise their advantages and limitations. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION A search on MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases was performed to identify literature focused on the active treatment of PEK stones. Original articles, case report and case series were included in the search and the systematic review was conducted in accordance to the PRISMA checklist. The study period went from inception of databases to October 2019. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Of the 256 articles identified, 23 met the inclusion criteria. 334 patients were included in the studies and 119 had stones in PEK. 5 patients were treated with SWL, 40 with ureterorenoscopy, 37 with percutaneous nephrolithotomy both by Ultrasound/X-ray or Lap-assisted puncture and 37 with minimally invasive laparoscopic or robot assisted pyelolithotomy. Overall, stone free rate after first treatment was higher in minimally invasive laparoscopic or robot assisted pyelolithotomy (97,2%) compared to percutaneous nephrolithotomy (84,96%) and ureterorenoscopy studies (65,94%). The higher complication rate was reported in percutaneous nephrolithotomy not lap-assisted (33,3%). CONCLUSIONS The choice of approach depends on different factors such as stone size, density and location in accordance with upper urinary tract alterations, kidney anatomy and operator experience. The choice of a retrograde, percutaneous or lap/robot approach should be carefully selected evaluating upper urinary tract anatomy and stone features.INTRODUCTION The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and the Spanish Urological Club for Oncological Treatment (CUETO) scoring systems show limited accuracy for the prediction of disease recurrence and progression of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). This aspect is even more relevant in the category of HR NMIBC. Biomarkers might potentially help to further categorize the outcomes of these patients. Therefore, we sought to review the evidence available on tissue-based, urinary, and serum biomarkers for the prediction of recurrence, progression, and survival in HR NMIBC. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION A systematic literature review without time restrictions was performed using PubMed/EMBASE, Web of Science, SCOPUS, and the Cochrane Libraries. The search was filtered for articles in the English, Italian, German, French, and Spanish languages, involving patients with more than 18 years of age. Relevant papers on tissue-based, serum and urinary biomarkers related to the prediction ofrkers predicting oncological outcomes for HR NMIBC, contradictory or uncertain findings render the adoption of this ancillary techniques in clinical practice still unlikely. Future attempts should be directed to the development of prospective trials and the definition of standardized cut-off levels to render findings worthy of comparison.The safety profile of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is well known, and cardiovascular and osteoporosis risk factors should be assessed before ADT initiation. In order to examine whether the French Committee of Urologic Oncology prostate cancer (PCa) guidelines were properly followed by clinicians, including urologists, oncologists and radiotherapists, we used a nationwide comprehensive cohort of prostate cancer patients, who were new ADT users in 2011 and were followed up to 2013. Reimbursements for biological examinations and prescribers were identified, as well as PCa specialist consultations at drug initiation. Our results in this French cohort showed that the proportions of patients resorting to specialised care between one year and 3 months before ADT initiation and in the 6 months following was around 40 % for fasting glucose and 30 % for lipid assessments. Bone densitometry was performed on around 1% of patients. In the 12 months after ADT initiation, 75% of the patients were seen by a urologist and around 47% by an oncologist or a radiotherapist. Overall, there is still room for improvement in terms of ADT monitoring by clinicians and in the information provided to general practitioners and patients regarding the expected adverse effects of this treatment.BACKGROUND This study was conducted to evaluate predictive factors of urinary continence recovery after radical prostatectomy (RP) for high-grade prostate cancer (PCa). METHODS A total of 241 patients with high-grade (Gleason score 8 or 9) PCa who underwent RP in a single Korean center between January 2011 and May 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. Urinary continence was defined as no pads use. Urinary continence was evaluated at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after RP. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to determine the predictive factors of urinary continence recovery after RP. RESULTS The mean age was 67.6±6.4 years, and the mean PSA was 18.7±21.1 ng/dL. A total of 197 (81.7 %) patients underwent nerve-sparing RP, and 198 patients (82.2 %) were continent 1 year after RP. Multivariate analysis showed that the age (odds ratio (OR)=1.091 [1.015- 1.172], P=0.018), body mass index (BMI) (OR=1.227 [1.057-1.424], P=0.007), and modified surgical technique (OR=0.109 [0.044-0.267], P less then 0.001) were independent factors for predicting urinary continence recovery after RP. CONCLUSIONS Younger age, low BMI, and modified surgery were independent predictors of urinary continence recovery after RP in patients with high-grade PCa. These findings may help surgeons to give pre- and postoperative advice to patients with high-grade PCa about urinary continence recovery after RP.BACKGROUND Screening program in lower extremity atherosclerotic disease (LEAD) has not been widely implemented from health systems. The aim of this study was to assess the incidence of LEAD in Greece though a pilot LEAD screening program. METHODS Males > 60 years old without known diagnosis of LEAD or chronic renal disease were invited through public primary health care institutions to participate in a pilot screening program in Central Greece. Demographics, atherosclerotic risk factors and other co-morbidities were recorded. LEAD was defined as ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI) of 60 years-old population of central Greece; these individuals maybe undertreated. ABPI less then 0.9 was diagnosed in 7% and was associated with older age, HT and duration of smoking.
