Published under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES A worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected millions of people. A 'closed-off management' protocol has been launched nationwide in China to cope with this major public health emergency. However, these procedures may cause a crisis for blood donation and blood supply. In this study, we assessed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on blood donation and supply in Zhejiang province, which could provide reference and insight for developing countermeasures in other countries. MATERIALS AND METHODS Blood donor and supply information from 38 blood centres during the Spring Festival of 2019 and 2020 were reviewed. A self-administered questionnaire was carried out. RESULTS Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of whole blood donors dropped by 67%. The success rate of recruitment for donations dropped by 60%. Most respondents (81·2%) were worried about the 'possibility of acquiring COVID-19 during blood donation'. The total amount of RBCs supply dropped by 65%. In the first week of the outbreak, the weekly amount of issued RBC units (10171·5 u) was almost six times higher than the collected units (1347·5 u). The mean haemoglobin value for RBCs transfusion was about 6·3 g/dl. About 4% of RBCs and 2·8% of frozen plasma were used in COVID-19 patients. CONCLUSION The secondary consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are blood shortages caused by the unavailability of blood donors, and this is likely to be replicated in many countries with high burdens of COVID-19. This in-vitro study was conducted to quantify the RBE of scanned protons as a function of the dose-averaged linear energy transfer (LETd ) and the sensitivity factor (α/ß)X . Additionally, three phenomenological models (McNamara, Rørvik and Jones) and one mechanistic model (Repair-Misrepair-Fixation, RMF) were applied to the experimentally derived data. METHODS Four human cell lines (FaDu, HaCat, Du145, SKMel) with differential (α/ß)X ratios were irradiated in a custom-designed irradiation set-up with doses between 0 and 6 Gy at proximal, central and distal positions of a 80 mm spread-out Bragg peak (SOBP) centered at 80 mm (set-up A proton energies 66.5-135.6 MeV) and 155 mm (set-up B proton energies 127.2-185.9 MeV) depth, respectively. LETd values at the respective cell positions were derived from Monte Carlo simulations performed with the treatment planning system (Tsensitivity parameter (α/ß)X was observed to be a major influencing factor for the RBE of protons and its sensitivity towards LETd changes. This work characterizes a prototype dual layer (DL) flat panel detector (FPD) and investigates its DE imaging capabilities for applications in 2D radiography/fluoroscopy and quantitative 3D cone-beam CT. Unlike other DE methods like kV switching, a DL FPD obtains DE images from a single exposure, making it robust against patient and system motion. METHODS The DL FPD consists of a top layer with a 200 µm-thick CsI scintillator coupled to an amorphous silicon (aSi) FPD of 150 µm pixel size and a bottom layer with a 550 µm thick CsI scintillator coupled to an identical aSi FPD. The two layers are separated by a 1 mm Cu filter to increase spectral separation. Images (43×43 cm2 active area) can be read out in 2×2 binning mode (300 µm pixels) at up to 15 frames per second. Detector performance was first characterized by measuring the MTF, NPS, and DQE for the top and bottom layers. BACKGROUND While unethical behavior is a workplace phenomenon that can negatively influence the sustainable development of settings, few nurse studies have explored it. This study identified an interpersonal antecedent of unethical behavior workplace ostracism. DESIGN A time-lagged three-wave survey was conducted over three months (November 2016 to January 2017) to collect data. METHODS Nurses (N=530) from three hospitals in China completed three anonymous self-reported questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, linear regression and moderated mediation tests were performed, and data analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and Mplus7.4. this website RESULTS Workplace ostracism positively influenced nurses' unethical behavior and emotional exhaustion mediated the relationship between workplace ostracism and unethical behavior. Nurses' hostile attribution bias moderated the effect of workplace ostracism on emotional exhaustion and unethical behavior. CONCLUSION Workplace ostracism was an important interpersonal factor predicting unethical behavior. Nurse supervisors should establish a harmonious interpersonal environment and be aware of hostile attribution bias to prevent nurses' unethical behavior. Impact Workplace ostracism is a pervasive phenomenon in the nursing workplace that contributes to unethical behavior. Nurse supervisors and staff should together establish harmonious working environments without workplace ostracism. Nurse supervisors should pay attention to nurses' emotions and conduct psychological counseling to minimize the negative effects of workplace ostracism.
