Fenofibrate is a peroxisome proliferation activated receptor (PPARα) agonist widely used in the treatment of dyslipidemia. Previous studies have shown that fenofibrate may promote cell proliferation, but the underlying mechanism has not been fully characterized. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of PPARα agonist fenofibrate in cell proliferation of SMMC-7721 cells compared with that of THLE-2 cells. SMMC-7721 and THLE-2 cells were treated with different concentrations of fenofibrate. Cell proliferation was analyzed by MTT, using flow cytometry for cell cycle analysis, and CyclinD1, Cyclin-dependent kinases2 (CDK2) and Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) were analyzed by Western blotting. RT-qPCR method was used to assess CDK2, CyclinD1 and PCNA mRNA levels. The results showed that 10-9-10-4 mol/L fenofibrate could induce cell growth and 10-4, 10-5, 10-6 mol/L fenofibrate could reduce the number of G0/G1 phase cells and increased in the number of cells in S and G2/M phase of cell cycle in SMMC-7721 cells. Furthermore, fenofibrate could significantly increase the expression of cell cycle related protein (CyclinD1, CDK2)and cell proliferation related proteins (PCNA). The use of PPARα inhibitor MT886 inhibited cell cycle progression and promote tumor cell apoptosis. But fenofibrate had no obvious effect on THLE-2 cells. These results revealed the effect of fenofibrate on the cell cycle of liver cancer cells, and provided a reasonable explanation for studying how fenofibrate promotes cell proliferation.
Thoracic endometriosis syndrome (TES) is a rare disease in which a functioning endometrial tissue is observed in the pleura, lung, parenchyma, airways, and/or diaphragm. The optimal management of this disease remains a matter of debate. We aimed to report TES cases and their effective hormonal treatment and management.

In this retrospective study, women presented as catamenial hemoptysis (CH) diagnosed with thoracic endometriosis were included. The main outcome of measure was cessation or recurrence of the clinical manifestations of thoracic endometriosis.

The mean onset age of the 14 patients was 30.21 ± 5.40 years. CH was characteristic symptom of these patients. All patients underwent chest computed tomography (CT) scan during menstruation and 2 or 3 weeks after menstruation, which showed the obvious shrinking or disappearance of the lesions. All of the patients were given Gonadotropin releasing hormone agonists (GnRHa) for 3 to 6 months, eleven of them were administered with combined oral contraceptives (COC) cyclically after GnRHa. The median follow-up duration was 24 months. Hemoptysis recurrence was observed in one patient.

This study aims to quantify and compare the burden of AD/dementia caregivers and evaluate how different living arrangements might impact health outcomes among caregivers in Japan, five European countries (5EU), and the United States (US).

This is a cross-sectional study based on existing data from the 2018 National Health and Wellness Survey. Health outcome measures included health-related quality of life (HRQoL), health state utilities, work productivity and activity impairment (WPAI), and measurement of depression and anxiety amongst AD/dementia caregivers and non-caregivers. Pairwise comparisons between AD/dementia caregivers in Japan, 5EU, and the US were conducted. Multivariate analysis was used to compare across groups within each region, with adjustment for potential confounding effects.

This is a follow-up study from a multicenter, prospective, before-and-after quasi-experimental, controlled trial to assess effectiveness at 36 months of an intervention designed to promote the revision and deprescribing of mirabegron in primary care in patients with overactive bladder.

Intervention included patients who attended in 17 PHCs located in North Barcelona; control included patients who attended in the other 34 PHCs located in South, East and West Barcelona. The primary endpoint was mirabegron review and deprescribing when GPs considered appropriate, which was measured by the percentage of change of the number of patients with treatment at 36 months compared to the baseline. The intervention consisted of meetings with all the directors of the PHCs; distribution of the infographic to the GPs; providing information regarding the intervention for urologist and gynaecologist; and review of the treatments by the GPs. There are only few studies comparing differences in the outcome of primary versus secondary gliosarcoma. This study aimed to review the outcome and survival of patients with primary or secondary gliosarcoma following surgical resection and adjuvant treatment. The data were also matched with data of patients with primary and secondary glioblastoma (GBM).

Treatment histories of 10 patients with primary gliosarcoma and 10 patients with secondary gliosarcoma were analysed and compared. Additionally, data of 20 patients with primary and 20 patients with secondary GBM were analysed and compared. All patients underwent surgical resection of the tumour in our department. Follow-up data, progression-free survival (PFS), and median overall survival (mOS) were evaluated.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate a fast, sutureless technique to repair anterior cervical dural tears. Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a commonly performed procedure for the treatment of cervical degenerative diseases. Although uncommon, incidental durotomy with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak during ACDF is a potentially serious complication. Yet, its technical management for the prevention of CSF leak is controversial.

Between September 2012 and June 2018 we encountered seven cases (2 female/5 male) presenting with intraoperative CSF leaks secondary to incidental dural tears during ACDF surgery. All the cases were surgically treated using a topical fibrin sealant patch (TachoSil) with high adesive strength and fibrin glue (Tisseel). Intraoperative source of leakage, time to leakage control, quantity of Sealant Sponge used and postoperative complications were evaluated.

Dural tears were tipically the result of dissection of adherent posterior longitudinal ligament and/or calcified disc from the cervical dural sac to allow full decompression of the spinal cord.
