The present study aims at determining the influence of diurnal changes in duration discrimination and temporal resolution in the morning- and evening-type individuals with normal hearing sensitivity.

Sixty individuals with normal hearing were divided into morning, evening and intermediate types using the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire. Tests for Duration discrimination, Gap detection, and Temporal modulation transfer function were carried out in all the participants during morning and evening. The performance of subjects of all the three groups during both morning and evening was analyzed.

Results revealed a diurnal effect on morning and evening type individuals' performance where morning type exhibited better performance when tested during morning and evening individuals when tested during the evening. At the same time, there were no significant diurnal effects seen in the intermediate type.

The poor cognitive performance and lack of inhibitory control at the time of the off-peak hours possibly result in the poor scores. Furthermore, the diurnal effects on objective audiological tests in morning and evening type individuals should be studied. Faecal incontinence (FI) is estimated to affect around 7.7% of people. There is a lack of uniformity in outcome definitions, measurement and reporting in FI studies. Until now, there is no general consensus on which outcomes should be assessed and reported in FI research. This complicates comparison between studies and evidence synthesis, potentially leading to recommendations not evidence-based enough to guide physicians in selecting an FI therapy. A solution for this lack of uniformity in reporting of outcomes is the development of a Core Outcome Set (COS) for FI. This paper describes the protocol for the development of a European COS for FI.

The purpose of this prospective study was to compare the double reverse traction repositor (DRTR) and manual traction in retrograde intramedullary nailing (RE-IMN) for femoral shaft fractures.

Seventy-seven patients with femur shaft fractures were randomized to undergo surgery with either DRTR or manual traction (MT) to facilitate RE-IMN between January 2018 and January 2019. Demographics, fracture characteristics, surgical data, post-operative complications, and functional outcomes were assessed. Data from 72 patients completing the final follow-up (12 months) were analysed in this study.

The average number of intra-operative perspectives in the DRTR group was 27.7, which was significantly reduced compared with that in the MT group (31.3, p < 0.001). Fewer assistants were required in the DRTR group compared with the MT group (1.1 vs 1.9, p < 0.001). Fewer patients with open reduction were discovered in the DRTR group compared with the MT group (2.8 vs 19.4, p=0.024). Demographics, fracture characteristics, other surgical data, and prognostic parameters were comparative between the two groups.

To clarify the regulation of VP secretion in BAO and the underlying mechanisms, we performed this study in a rat model of BAO with (BC) or without common carotid artery occlusion (CCAO). The results showed that BAO and BC time-dependently increased neurological scores and that BC also increased water contents in the medulla at 2 h and in the pontine at 8 h. Moreover, plasma VP level increased significantly at BAO-8 h, CCAO and BC-2 h but not at BC-8 h; however, VP expressions increased in the supraoptic nucleus (SON) at BC-8 h. The neurological scores were highly correlated with pontine water contents and plasma VP levels. The number of phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase1/2-positive VP neurons increased significantly in the SON at BC-8 h. Similarly, the number of c-Fos-positive VP neurons increased significantly in the SON at BAO-8 h and BC-8 h.
