Additionally, it has been hypothesized that 'dextran-derived' IV iron products (e.g., ferumoxytol [FER] and ferric derisomaltose/iron isomaltoside 1000 [FDI]) have a higher risk of severe HSRs than 'non-dextran-derived' products (e.g., ferric carboxymaltose [FCM] and iron sucrose [IS]). In the present analysis, HSR data from head-to-head randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with IV iron products were evaluated to determine if differences in safety signals are present among these IV iron formulations. Study design and methods Reported serious or moderate-to-severe HSR incidence data from five RCTs (FIRM; FERWON-NEPHRO/-IDA; PHOSPHARE-IDA04/-IDA05) were used to calculate risk differences with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for FER, FCM, FDI, and IS. The rates and risk differences for these HSRs were compared. Results The analysis included data for 5247 patients FER (n = 997), FCM (n = 1117), FDI (n = 2133) and IS (n = 1000). Overall rates of serious or moderate to severe HSRs were low (0.2%-1.7%). The risk differences (95% CIs) showed small differences between the IV iron formulations FER versus FCM, -0.1 (-0.8 to 0.6); FDI versus IS, 0.1 (-0.3 to 0.5); FDI versus FCM, -0.9 (-3.7 to 1.9). Methods We used PubMed to primarily identify papers, reviews, case series and editorials published in English from 2000 until 31 January 2020. Based on this, we report the prevalence, clinical manifestations, diagnostic approaches and management of GI involvement in each vasculitis. The molecular mechanisms of interaction between melatonin and NO in plants were also proposed.The subtidal kelp Nereocystis luetkeana (hereafter Nereocystis) maintains an upright stature by producing a single gas-filled float (pneumatocyst) that provides buoyancy. The ability of Nereocystis pneumatocysts to inflate with gas underwater is peculiar, and the gas composition of pneumatocysts has been the topic of several studies over the last 100 years. Past studies of pneumatocyst gases only examined large sporophytes, leaving open questions about the origins of these gases and how gas composition may change during development. In this study, we use developmental time as a means to understand the origin and physiological mechanisms that give rise to different gases within Nereocystis pneumatocysts. Total gas composition was measured across a range of pneumatocyst sizes (5-725 mL). Contrary to previous studies that documented pneumatocyst gas concentrations to be similar to air, this study found internal gas levels of CO, CO2 , and O2 to be 1.2 ± 0.8%, 0.6 ± 0.2%, and 59.9 ± 13.6%, respectively. Our data suggest that the composition of gases does not change as pneumatocysts grow and that the rate of each gas added is approximately proportional to changes in pneumatocyst volume. Therefore, cells constituting the pneumatocyst wall are likely producing more gas (per surface area) to fill pneumatocysts as they expand, maintaining proportional gas composition and corresponding internal pressure.Purpose Standard relaxation time quantification using phase-cycled balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP), eg, motion-insensitive rapid configuration relaxometry (MIRACLE), is subject to a considerable underestimation of tissue T1 and T2 due to asymmetric intra-voxel frequency distributions. In this work, an artificial neural network (ANN) fitting approach is proposed to simultaneously extract accurate reference relaxation times (T1 , T2 ) and robust field map estimates ( B 1 + , ΔB0 ) from the bSSFP profile. Methods Whole-brain bSSFP data acquired at 3T were used for the training of a feedforward ANN with N = 12, 6, and 4 phase-cycles. The magnitude and phase of the Fourier transformed complex bSSFP frequency response served as input and the multi-parametric reference set [T1 , T2 , B 1 + , ∆B0 ] as target. The ANN predicted relaxation times were validated against the target and MIRACLE. Results The ANN prediction of T1 and T2 for trained and untrained data agreed well with the reference, even for only four acquired phase-cycles. In contrast, relaxometry based on 4-point MIRACLE was prone to severe off-resonance-related artifacts. ANN predicted B 1 + and ∆B0 maps showed the expected spatial inhomogeneity patterns in high agreement with the reference measurements for 12-point, 6-point, and 4-point bSSFP phase-cycling schemes. Conclusion ANNs show promise to provide accurate brain tissue T1 and T2 values as well as reliable field map estimates. Moreover, the bSSFP acquisition can be accelerated by reducing the number of phase-cycles while still delivering robust T1 , T2 , B 1 + , and ∆B0 estimates.This study examines within-person and cross-person relations between depressive symptoms, harsh parenting, and parental rejection in low-income Filipino mothers and fathers of adolescents using an actor-partner interdependence model (APIM). Mother and father dyads (N = 81, Mage = 43.48, SD = 8.66) recruited from urban neighborhoods in the Philippines completed orally administered questionnaires on depressive symptoms, harsh parenting, and rejection. Results showed that mothers' scores and fathers' scores on depressive symptoms did not significantly differ and that mothers scored significantly higher than fathers on harsh parenting and rejection. Dyadic analyses using the APIM showed that the actor effect of depressive symptoms on harsh parenting was statistically significant for fathers only and that the actor effects of depressive symptoms on rejection were statistically significant for both mothers and fathers. No partner effects on harsh parenting and rejection were statistically significant. These findings contribute to the robust evidence linking parental depressive symptoms to negative parenting behaviors and highlight the need to attend to both fathers' psychological health and mothers' psychological health in efforts to reduce harsh and rejecting parenting behaviors among Filipino parents.
