We aimed to summarize available evidence to evaluate whether osteoporosis was associated with an increased risk of incident HF.

Major databases, including PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane library, Web of Science, and ClinicalTrials, were searched for cohort studies reporting the hazard ratio (HR) for incident HF in patients with osteoporosis. The pooled hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% CIs were estimated by using a random‑effects model. Heterogeneity was evaluated by the I2 statistics and the χ2 test.

Three studies with a total of 70 697 patients were included, with the mean (SD) age of 62.9 (13.3) years. Osteoporosis was associated with an increased overall risk of incident HF (pooled HR, 1.17; 95% CI, 1.08-1.26; P <0.001; heterogeneity I2 = 13.28%, P = 0.32). The risk of incident HF was elevated in osteoporotic men (HR, 1.3; 95% CI, 1.05-1.62; P = 0.02; I2 = 71.57%, P = 0.03); however, no significant association was found for women (HR, 1.14; 95% CI, 0.94-1.37; P = 0.19; I2 = 64.66%, P = 0.06). The association between osteoporosis and incident HF risk was positive among individuals of Asian ethnicity (HR, 1.18; 95% CI, 1.06-1.3; P = 0.002; I2 = 52.61%, P = 0.15).

Osteoporosis was associated with a modest but significantly increased risk of incident HF. Considering the limited number and quality of available studies, future high‑quality data are required to further demonstrate the association between osteoporosis and incident HF.

The article presents eleven important features of the autopsy of fetuses and newborns that must be observed for a high-quality diagnosis of diseases and causes of death of children. The reasons for the importance of observing these features both in pathoanatomical and forensic autopsies are indicated. A proposal has been made to include the considered features in the standard protocol of the pathological and anatomical autopsy of the fetus and newborns.The purpose of the work is to study the possibilities and options for assessing the degree of bilateral symmetry of dermatoglyphic signs of the right and left palms in solving the practical task of forensic medicine in establishing the belonging of body parts to one or different persons. The material of study was fingerprints of 600 palms of 300 people. It was found that the dermatoglyphic signs of the palms are characterized by a high degree of bilateral symmetry. The most consistent with each other on the right and left palms are the rudiments of papillary ridges, ridge counting and the distance between the finger triradiuses. In practical terms, the most informative are the coincidence of values of the characters having an average frequency of occurrence; coincidence of frequent signs have reliable, but low diagnostic significance. It is shown that, using the recommended set of dermatoglyphic signs of the palms, a forensic expert can, with a high degree of certainty, solve the question of whether the parts of body with the palms belong to one or different dead persons. The relevance of the topic is due to the large number of deaths of minors as a result of road traffic accidents on the roads of the Russian Federation. The impact of qualitative factors (gender, age, season, type of motor vehicle accident) on the number of deaths was evaluated. We used the mathematical-statistical method - the Pearson criterion. We revealed similar general patterns of mortality from road injuries, despite some differences in the territorial distribution of this indicator. We established the need to create a unified information and analytical center, which will concentrate information on cases of traffic accidents throughout the region, including information from units of the forensic medical examination service.
