In addition, environmental astrocytic activation with strong PD-L1 signal was prominent. Taken together, we provided a novel GBM surgical recurrence model for preclinical studies and suggested complicated recurring mechanisms involving in strong oncogenic signaling as well as immune inhibitory signals from both GBM cells and their neighboring astrocytes. In pipe inspection using ultrasonic guided wave technique, the current commercial transmitters are designed for the unidirectional guided wave excitation using multiple circular piezoelectric transducers arrays in the axial direction. However, the source with many individual transducer elements in arrays has difficulty in achieving an axisymmetric loading perfectly for defect detection. Therefore, a quasi-axisymmetric wave is formed due to many undesired wave modes are launched instead of a pure axisymmetric wave at a given excitation frequency. In this paper, a realistic superposition model of axial multiple transducer arrays is proposed. The model has many potential applications; one example is investigating the source influence on the generated quasi-axisymmetric wave effect. The analytical model is employed to achieve the predictions for investigating a transmitter's influence for the unidirectional enhancement of torsional T(0,1) guided wave mode excitation in a pipe inspection system composing of three piezoelectric transducer ring arrays. The excitation function with variable power levels among transducers in arrays is also introduced. The predictive results using the analytical model for the distribution of circumferential displacement amplitudes over time are verified using the finite element method and a CLV-3D laser vibrometry measurement on a 219.1-mm-outer-diameter steel pipe without defect. A comparison between calculated and test results has been analysed quantitatively. The respective results are in good agreement. Thus, predictions for the superposed wavefield can be used to analyse the realistic characterisation of the excitation function in axial multiple transducer arrays. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis for part-circumferential crack detection using the quasi-axisymmetric torsional modes generated is also evaluated using finite element modelling.Although there is increasing interest in the use of plane waves (PW) in high-frame-rate imaging, not much experimental data is available about their behavior in terms of nonlinear propagation. This paper presents a detailed study of fundamental and harmonic components of the ultrasound beam associated to PW transmission from a linear array. Simulations and hydrophone measurements of PW propagation in water were performed and compared to the results obtained for focused waves (FWs) at various levels of peak negative pressure (PNP). Experimental results confirm that, at comparable PNP, the amplitudes of the harmonics reached by PWs are always higher, over extended regions, than those achieved with FW. For example, at MI = 0.2 the PW second harmonic turns out to be 9 dB higher at 25 mm depth (i.e. in the focal region), and 20 dB higher at 40 mm depth. Simulations additionally show that when ultrasound waves propagate through blood or muscle, the situation is in general reversed but, at low MI, the second harmonic amplitude can still be higher in PW than in FW. Furthermore, it is shown that increasing the array aperture size yields higher harmonic growth in PW compared to FW.
Orthoses can stabilize the foot and restore the medial longitudinal arch for symptomatic flexible flatfoot. However, the effectiveness of orthoses remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate effectiveness of a customized soft inflatable orthosis on the medial longitudinal arch of flexible flatfoot patients under load.

We obtained CT scans of the feet of 14 healthy volunteers and 14 patients with flexible flatfoot under non- and simulated weight-bearing conditions. Then CT scans under the same conditions were taken for patients with flexible flatfoot equipped with soft inflatable orthosis. Three-dimensional models of the medial longitudinal arch and hindfoot were constructed from CT images. The three-dimensional mobility of the medial longitudinal arch joints under load was compared between patients with flexible flatfoot equipped with soft inflatable orthosis or not.

From non- to simulated weight-bearing condition, the eversion and dorsiflexion of the talocalcaneal joint, the eversion of the talonavicular joint, the abduction and dorsiflexion of the cuneonavicular joint, and the dorsiflexion of the first tarsometatarsal joint were significantly larger in patients with flexible flatfoot than healthy volunteers. The customized soft inflatable orthosis could reduce the eversion of the talonavicular joint and the eversion and dorsiflexion of the talocalcaneal joint.

The soft inflatable orthosis is effective to improve medial longitudinal arch height and reduce excessive mobility of joints for flexible flatfoot deformity. The results of this study could provide evidence for the optimal orthosis design to treat flexible flatfoot in the future.

Quiet stance is impacted by Parkinson's disease and dual-tasking. Recently developed outcomes such as the time-to-boundary provide unique insight into balance by integrating center of pressure position with base of support. However, little is known about the effects of Parkinson's disease on time-to-boundary. In particular, the effects of distracting cognitive tasks, and how people with Parkinson's disease prioritize balance and cognitive tasks are poorly understood.

14 people with Parkinson's disease and 13 controls completed quiet standing and cognitive Stroop tasks separately (single-task) and together (dual-task). 2-dimentional, medio-lateral, and anterior-posterior time-to-boundary were calculated via force-plate data. JZL184 purchase Traditional sway outcomes, including sway area and path length, were also calculated. Cognitive performance was measured as the verbal reaction time after auditory stimulus delivery. Prioritization was assessed by taking the difference between cognitive and postural dual-task interference.
