Research on wearable sensor systems is mostly conducted on freestanding polymer substrates such as poly(dimethylsiloxane) and poly(ethylene terephthalate). However, the use of these polymers as substrates requires the introduction of transducer materials on their surface, which causes many problems related to the contact with the transducer components. In this study, we propose a freestanding flexible sensor electrode based on a β-MnO2-decorated carbon nanofiber sheet (β-MnO2@CNF) to detect dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP) as a nerve agent simulant. To introduce MnO2 on the surface of the substrate, polypyrrole coated on poly(acrylonitrile) (PPy@PAN) was reacted with a MnO2 precursor. Then, phase transfer of PPy@PAN and MnO2 to carbon and β-MnO2, respectively, was induced by heat treatment. The β-MnO2@CNF sheet electrode showed excellent sensitivity toward the target analyte DMMP (down to 0.1 ppb), as well as high selectivity, reversibility, and stability.A cellular membrane, primarily a lipid bilayer, surrounds the internal components of a biological cell from the external components. Oxaliplatin mouse This self-assembled bilayer is known to be perturbed by ionic liquids (ILs) causing malfunctioning of a cellular organism. In the present study, surface-sensitive X-ray scattering techniques have been employed to understand this structural perturbation in a lipid multilayer system formed by a zwitterionic phospholipid, 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine. The ammonium and phosphonium-based ILs with methanesulfonate anions are observed to induce phase-separated domains in the plane of a bilayer. The lamellar X-ray diffraction peaks suggest these domains to correlate across the bilayers in a smectic liquid crystalline phase. This induced IL-rich lamellar phase has a very low lamellar repeat distance, suggesting the formation of an interdigitated bilayer. The IL-poor phase closely related to the pristine lipid phase shows a decrement in the in-plane chain lattice parameters with a reduced tilt angle. The ammonium and phosphonium-based ILs with a relatively bulky anion, p-toluenemethanesulfonate, have shown a similar effect.Fe-Zr-Na catalysts synthesized by coprecipitation and impregnation methods were implemented to investigate the promoting effects of Na and Zr on the iron-based catalyst for high-temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (HTFT). The catalysts were characterized by Ar adsorption-desorption, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, CO temperature-programmed desorption, H2 temperature-programmed desorption, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Mössbauer spectroscopy (MES). The results indicated that Na changed the active sites on the catalyst surface for the CO and hydrogen adsorption, owing to the electron migration from Na to Fe atoms, which resulted in an enhanced CO dissociative adsorption and a decrease in hydrogen adsorption on the metallic Fe surface. The decreased H/C ratio on the catalyst surface accounted for the increased chain propagation and weakened hydrogenation of light olefins. Besides, Na could also facilitate the carbonization of catalysts and protect the iron carbide against oxidation, which provides more active sites for HTFT reaction and is beneficial to the C-C coupling. Zr could decrease the hematite crystallite size and stabilize the active phase to improve the HTFT activity. At an optimal Na loading of 1.0 wt %, the Fe-Zr-1.0Na catalyst exhibited the highest light olefin selectivity of 35.8% in the hydrocarbon distribution at a CO conversion of 95.2%.Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) not only have environmental protection characteristics of being lightweight, degradable, green, and renewable but also have some nanocharacteristics of high strength, large specific surface area, and obvious small size effect, so they are often used as a reinforcing agent in various polymers. However, the hydrogen bonding between CNC molecules is relatively strong, and they can easily aggregate and get entangled with each other. In this work, several large-porosity composite nanofiber films, KH550-CNC/waterborne polyurethane (WPU)/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVAL) with KH550-modified CNCs, are prepared using poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVAL) solution and electrospinning technology. A variety of characterization methods are used to discuss and analyze the nanofiber materials, and the effects of the added amount of CNCs modified with KH550, spinning voltage, curing distance, and advancing speed on the morphology and performance of composite fibers are discussed separately. The results show that when the content of KH550-CNC is 1%, the composite fiber film obtained has the most regular morphology and the best spinnability, which is convenient for the specific application of fiber materials in a later period. In addition, the porosity of the obtained composite fiber film is 62.61%. Therefore, this work provides a theoretical basis and research strategy for the preparation of higher-porosity composite films as well as the development of new textile materials.Sustained casing pressure (SCP) is a common issue in the oil and gas industry. There were several solutions applied to contain it either by mechanical means or by injecting high-performing cement slurries. There are some limitations associated with these solutions such as volume loss, mechanical failures, limited expansion, exact spotting, and material deterioration with time. In this study, a novel expandable cement system contains a novel silicate aqueous alkali alumino silicate (AAAS) and zinc (Zn) metal slurry, and class G cement is introduced as an expandable solution to prevent annulus flow between the casing and formation. The silicate-based admixture reacts with the Zn metal slurry to generate hydrogen gas that results in the expansion of the cement slurry. The reaction and expansion can be controlled by optimizing the quantities of silicate systems and metal slurry. The expansive properties of the silicate system can be utilized to formulate a cement mix for plugging off the annulus flow. Cement slursolution can be applied in loss circulation zones.
