Pain is a contributing factor to the low compliance rate for performing a colonoscopy on screening for colorectal cancer.

This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effect of visual distraction on adults undergoing colonoscopy.

We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library Database from their inception to February 2022. Randomized controlled trials comparing visual distraction with non-visual distraction were considered for inclusion. The fixed-effects and random-effects models were used to pool the data from individual studies and the Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool was used to determine the methodology quality.

This meta-analysis included four studies (N = 301) for pain level and total procedure time, three studies (N = 181) for satisfaction score, three studies (N = 196) for anxiety level, and four studie (N = 402) for willingness to repeat the procedure. The pooled analysis shown that significantly lower pain levels (SMD, -0.25; 95% CI -0.47 to -0.02; P = 0.03), higher satisfaction score with the procedure (SMD, 0.63; 95% CI, 0.33 to 0.93; P < 0.0001), and higherwillingness to repeat the procedure (OR, 2.66; 95% CI 1.70 to 4.17; P < 0.0001) in the visual distraction group than those in the non-visual distraction group, with no significantdifferences in total procedure time (SMD,-0.07; 95% CI -0.30 to 0.15; P = 0.53) or anxiety level (SMD,-0.27; 95% CI -0.55 to 0.01; P = 0.06).

Visual distraction improved the patient's pain, satisfaction, and willingness to repeat the procedure. Thus, visual stimulation is an effective way to reduce pain during colonoscopy and should be recommended.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) represents the gold standard for initial drainage of pancreatic fluid collections (PFC) due to various etiologies. However, data concerning salvage EUS drainage after initial percutaneous drainage are limited. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes and safety of EUS-guided drainage of pancreatic collections after failure of percutaneous drainage.

This retrospective study was conducted in a single, tertiary university center from August 2013 to January 2020. Indication was pancreatic collection after acute pancreatitis with PFC requiring EUS-guided drainage after failure of percutaneous drainage.

Twenty-two patients with PFC after acute pancreatitis were included (mean age 64.1 ± 11.3years) of which 4/22 (18.2%) had pancreatic pseudocyst and 18/22 (81.8%) presented with a walled-off necrosis. Seventy-six interventions were performed among the 22 patients. Lumen-Apposing Metal Stent (LAMS) were used in 5/22 (22.7%) and double pigtail plastic stents in 17/22 (77.3%) of interventions with a median number intervention of 3 per patient (range 1 to 7). Technical success rate was 98.7% (75/76) with an overall clinical success of 81.8% (18/22). Procedure related adverse events rate was 9.1% (2/22) including one bleeding and one pancreatic fistula. Two non-procedure related deaths were observed.

EUS-guided pancreatic collection drainage is clinically effective and safe after clinical/technical failure of radiological percutaneous management.

To cope with drought stress, of 205 bacterial cultures investigated for moisture stress tolerant potential, 16 cultures showed promising results in improving the majority of plant growth ameliorating activities under water stress and non-stress conditions. Growth kinetics and plant growth ameliorating activities declined significantly with the increase in water stress level. Most of the isolates tolerant to water stress were Streptomyces and Pseudomonas species. Of these, four strains with the best results were selected for growing tomato under water stress conditions. The imposition of water stress severely inhibited the growth of tomato plants. However, bacterial strains alleviated the stress and enhanced plant growth performance. Antioxidant activity showed a promising result of protection from reactive oxygen species produced in plants because of water stress. Plants treated with bioinoculants also exhibited a substantial decline in lipid peroxidation. Water stress significantly reduced the yield of tomato. However, bioinoculants treated plants demonstrated significantly higher yields than untreated plants. Nutrient uptake and fruit quality also improved in the treated plants. Experiments point to the scope of developing a microbial formulation to alleviate water stress in higher plants. The concept of Finite Absorption Time (FAT) for oral drug administration is set to affect pharmacokinetic analyses, Physiologically-based Pharmacokinetics simulations, and Pharmacometrics.Cutaneo us vasculitis (CV) has a broad spectrum of etiologies, and drugs are one of the main culprits. With the increasing use of targeted therapies in medicine, especially in rheumatology and oncology, the number of CV cases reported due to these drugs has increased. Therefore, the recognition and treatment of CV associated with targeted agents have become more and more important. In the literature, anti-TNFs (n = 73, 59.5%), secukinumab (n = 7, 6%), rituximab (n = 5, 4%), tocilizumab (n = 1, 0.8%), ustekinumab (n = 8, 6.5%), abatacept (n = 3, 2.4%), Janus kinase inhibitors (n = 3, 2.4%), alemtuzumab (n = 3, 2.4%), and immune checkpoint inhibitors (n = 20, 16%) have been reported as responsible agents. However, our knowledge of the pathogenetic mechanisms is fairly limited, and the standardized management is yet to be established. Furthermore, though it is uncommon, this complication may pose a safety issue. In this manuscript, we reviewed the literature on CV with or without systemic involvement related to targeted agents. We also proposed the pathogenetic mechanisms of these adverse events. Thus, we aimed to make it easier for clinicians to manage similar cases by reviewing the diagnosis and treatment processes.Pediatric primary systemic vasculitides are a complex group of diseases. Vasculitis subgroups are mainly determined according to the size of the predominantly affected vessels. In patients with primary systemic vasculitis, the location of vascular involvement, the size of the vessels, the extent of vascular damage, and the underlying pathology determine the disease phenotype and severity. Cardiac involvement is rare in some pediatric vasculitis, such as IgA vasculitis and polyarteritis nodosa, while it is more common in some others like Kawasaki disease and Takayasu arteritis. On the other hand, chronic inflammation in the setting of systemic vasculitis forms a major cardiovascular risk factor. Accelerated atherosclerosis and the tendency to thrombosis are the main issues determining the cardiovascular risks in pediatric systemic vasculitis. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential in these patients to minimize morbidity and mortality. In this review, we aimed to raise physicians' awareness of cardiac involvement and cardiovascular risks in pediatric patients with primary systemic vasculitis.
There has been an increasing number of literature related to idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) in the past few decades. Benzylpenicillin potassium However, there is a lack of intuitive and systematic analysis of research on IIM. Therefore, this study aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis to identify the current trends and hotspots of research on IIM.

Articles and reviews on IIM published during 1982-2021 were acquired from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. VOSviewer application was applied to conduct a network analysis of the keywords, institutions, and countries. The top 100 most-cited publications regarding IIM were analyzed.

In total, 665 publications were included. Globally, the USA produced the most articles on IIM (144). Karolinska Institutet was the institution with the most outputs (47). Rheumatology ranked on top of journals, with 47 IIM-related documents collecting a total of 1420 citations. In the area of IIM documents, biomarkers were the most common research theme. According to the co-occiers in the field. The global status and trends of the IIM literature from a bibliometric aspect can offer a helpful guidance and new insight for researchers and medical workers in the domain. Key Points • This study reveals the topic trends and knowledge structure of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies literature over the last 40 years. • This study identifies potential future research hotspots, including "cardiac involvement," "criteria," and "refractory adult."In order to provide a basis for the prevention of RA, this systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the association between passive smoking and the risk of developing RA. We searched electronic databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Web of Science, and Embase, for published literature from the establishment to March 2022. Then we included subject-related cohort studies and case-control studies, and two researchers independently screened and extracted relevant data. Finally, we performed a meta-analysis, cumulative meta-analysis, and dose-response meta-analysis using the Stata software and evaluated the included literature for the level of evidence. This meta-analysis included three case-control and three cohort studies. There was only a small amount of statistical heterogeneity among the studies (I2 = 34.9%). According to the study results, the risk of RA was 12% higher in passive smokers than in unexposed individuals. In subgroup analysis, a 12% increase in the prevalence of RA was observed in those exposed to passive smoking in adulthood. The developing RA rate was 34% higher in individuals exposed to passive smoking during childhood than in unexposed individuals. As time progressed and with the inclusion of extensive sample studies in the cumulative meta-analysis, the precision of the overall incidence effect values gradually increased. A dose-response meta-analysis showed no statistical significance that the risk of RA increased with the number of passive smoking years. Passive smoking may relate to the risk of RA, especially in childhood exposures.
To evaluate the diagnostic performance of cytomegalovirus (CMV) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) on inner ear fluid collected during cochlear implantation and to assess its interest in current practice. This monocentric prospective study included consecutive children presenting with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) who were candidates for unilateral and/or bilateral cochlear implantation. The etiology of the SNHL was determined before cochlear implantation when possible. During the surgery, drop-like samples of inner ear fluid and blood were collected. CMV PCR was then performed on both samples. Between January 2017 and September 2021, 113 children with severe to profound SNHL underwent cochlear implantation with inner ear fluid collection. Among these children, 77 of them presented with a known cause of SNHL (68%) and 36 of them had an unknown cause of SNHL at the time of surgery (32%). Sensitivity and specificity of the CMV PCR on inner ear fluid were 60% (95% CI [49-71]) and 98% (95% CI [96-100]), respectively.
