Long-term Outcomes of Repeated Botulinum Contaminant Injection within Plastic Therapeutics.
The expression of Ki-67 and CD31 also significantly decreased compared with other groups, indicative of anti-tumor activity. In addition, intraperitoneal administration of the hydrogel system led to no significant damage to vital organs. These findings confirm the clinical potential of the drug-loaded hydrogel system for the treatment of malignant ascites.Bacterial infection is one of the most significant impediments to wound healing. To treat wounds, non-biological and non-pharmacological interventions have gained increasing importance as they are easily translatable into clinical products. ARS-1620 mouse In this study, we developed a niacin metal-organic frameworks (NOFs)-laden hybrid hydrogel with self-healing ability for better wound healing. The copper based-NOFs (Cu-NOFs) and zinc based-NOFs (Zn-NOFs) were constructed and encapsulated into the self-healing hydrogels, which could prevent NOFs from directly interacting with protein-containing solutions (e. g., tissue fluid). The hydrogel was prepared by using four-armed benzaldehyde-terminated polyethylene glycol (BAPEG) and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC). Our results showed that the hydrogel gained self-healing ability through reversible Schiff base reaction. In addition, after loading NOFs, the hybrid hydrogel exerted significant effects on antibacterial and antioxidant activities. The in vivo studies demonstrated that the hybrid hydrogel could alleviate inflammation and enhance the formation of granulation tissue, collagen and vascular tissue, thereby promoting wound closure in rats with E. coli -infected wounds. link2 Overall, this study highlights the tremendous potential for the clinical implementation of NOFs-laden hydrogel with good self-healing, antibacterial and antioxidant properties in wound healing. In recent years, the development and applications of protein drugs have attracted extensive attention from researchers. However, the shortcomings of protein drugs also limit their further development. Therefore, bioactive peptides isolated or simulated from protein polymers have broad application prospects in food, medicine, biotechnology, and other industries. Such peptides have a molecular weight distribution between 180 and 1000 Da. As a small molecule substance, bioactive peptide is usually degraded by various enzymes in the organism and have a short half-life. At the same time, such substances have poor stability and are difficult to produce and store. Therefore, these active peptides may be modified through phosphorylation, glycosylation, and acylation. Compared with other protein drugs, the modified active peptides are more easily absorbed by the body, have longer half-life, stronger targeting, and fewer side effects in addition to higher bioavailability. In the light of their functions, bioactive peptide can be divided into antimicrobial, anti-tumour, anti-angiogenic, antioxidant, anti-fatigue, and anti-hypertensive peptides. This article mainly focuses on the introduction of several promising biologically active peptides functioning as antimicrobial, anti-tumour, antiangiogenic, and antioxidant peptides from the three aspects modification, structural characteristics and mechanism of action.Bone defect that resulted from trauma, tumors, and other reasons is believed as a common clinical problem, which exists mainly in post-traumatic healing. Additionally, autologous/allogeneic transplantation, bone tissue engineering attracts increasing attention due to the existing problem of the limited donor. The applications of biomaterials can be considered as a rising and promising strategy for bone regeneration. Especially, hydrogel is featured with hydrophilic characteristic, good biocompatibility, and porous structure, which shows unique properties for bone regeneration. The main properties of hydrogel such as surface property, adhesive property, mechanical property, porosity, and degradation property, generally present influences on the migration, proliferation, and differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells exclusively or in combination, which consequently affect the regeneration of bones. This review mainly focuses on the theme "how properties of hydrogel shape bone regeneration." Moreover, the latest progress achieved in the above mentioned direction is further discussed. Despite the fascinating advances researchers have made, certain potential challenges continue to exist in the research field, which need to be addressed for accelerating the clinical translation of hydrogel in bone regeneration.
Endometriosis is associated with a high number of chronic pelvic pain and reduced quality of life. Colorectal resections in case of bowel involvement of endometriosis are associated with an unneglectable morbidity in young and healthy patients. There is no linear correlation established between the degree of symptoms and stage of endometriosis. The aim of this study was to correlate the histological findings to preoperative pain scores in colorectal resected patients with endometriosis.

Twenty-five patients who underwent laparoscopic colorectal resection for endometriosis between 2014 and 2019 were included in this retrospective study. Pain level was assessed preoperatively and postoperatively via phone call in May 2020. Histopathology was correlated to preoperative symptoms and postoperative outcome.

Average follow-up time was 38.68months (± 19.92). Preoperative VAS-score was 8.32 (± 1.70). We observed a significant reduction of pain level in all patients after surgery (p ≤ 0.005). Pain levels were equal regarding the presence of satellite spots and various degrees of infiltration depth. The resection margins were clear in all patients. Postoperative complications occurred in 6 cases (24%) and anastomotic leakage was observed in 3 patients (12%). Average VAS-score at time of follow-up was 1.70 (± 2.54).

Our data demonstrate that adequate colorectal resection leads to reduction of pain and an increase of quality of life irrespective of histopathological findings. An experienced team is necessary to improve intraoperative outcome and to reduce postoperative morbidity in case of complication.

Drawing on Eccles' expectancy-value model, we investigated the associations between parents' sports-related socialization behaviors in the family context, youth's sports' values, and youth's involvement in organized sports activities in the Nordic countries. More specifically, we tested the mediating effect of youth's sports' values on the link between socialization of sports in the family setting and youth's sports participation. Further, we examined whether any associations were moderated by youth's immigrant background or gender.

Immigrant and Nordic adolescents (N = 678), in 7th-8th grade, were followed over two consecutive years and responded to surveys during regular class hours.

Supporting Eccles' model, we found that sports-related family co-activities significantly predicted youth's prospective sports-related behaviors through youth's sports' values. link3 The mediation process was robust across both Nordic and immigrant youth and adolescent girls and boys. Further, our results revealed that parents'titioners interested in promoting youth's involvement in organized sports activities. This especially applies to immigrant youth, given that the literature consistently reports lower sports involvement among immigrant youth than their native counterparts.
Systematic reviews involve searching multiple bibliographic databases to identify eligible studies. As this type of evidence synthesis is increasingly pursued, the use of various electronic platforms can help researchers improve the efficiency and quality of their research. We examined the accuracy and efficiency of commonly used electronic methods for flagging and removing duplicate references during this process.

A heterogeneous sample of references was obtained by conducting a similar topical search in MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and PsycINFO databases. References were de-duplicated via manual abstraction to create a benchmark set. The default settings were then used in Ovid multifile search, EndNote desktop, Mendeley, Zotero, Covidence, and Rayyan to de-duplicate the sample of references independently. Using the benchmark set as reference, the number of false-negative and false-positive duplicate references for each method was identified, and accuracy, sensitivity,, ease-of-use, functionality, and capability, these findings are important to consider when researchers are selecting database platforms and supporting software programs for conducting systematic reviews.
Global responses to the COVID-19 pandemic have exposed and exacerbated existing socioeconomic and health inequities that disproportionately affect the sexual health and well-being of many populations, including people of color, ethnic minority groups, women, and sexual and gender minority populations. Although there have been several reviews published on COVID-19 and health disparities across various populations, none has focused on sexual health. We plan to conduct a scoping review that seeks to fill several of the gaps in the current knowledge of sexual health in the COVID-19 era.

A scoping review focusing on sexual health and COVID-19 will be conducted. We will search (from January 2020 onwards) CINAHL, Africa-Wide Information, Web of Science Core Collection, Embase, Gender Studies Database, Gender Watch, Global Health, WHO Global Literature on Coronavirus Disease Database, WHO Global Index Medicus, PsycINFO, MEDLINE, and Sociological Abstracts. Grey literature will be identified using Disaster Lit, Google Scholar, governmental websites, and clinical trials registries (e.g., ClinicalTrial.gov , World Health Organization, International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, and International Standard Randomized Controlled Trial Number Registry). Study selection will conform to the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewers' Manual 2015 Methodology for JBI Scoping Reviews. Only English language, original studies will be considered for inclusion. Two reviewers will independently screen all citations, full-text articles, and abstract data. A narrative summary of findings will be conducted. Data analysis will involve quantitative (e.g., frequencies) and qualitative (e.g., content and thematic analysis) methods.

Original research is urgently needed to mitigate the risks of COVID-19 on sexual health. The planned scoping review will help to address this gap.

Preoperative anemia is a common comorbidity that often necessitates allogeneic blood transfusion (ABT). As there is a risk associated with blood transfusions, preoperative intravenous iron (IV) has been proposed to increase the hemoglobin to reduce perioperative transfusion; however, randomized controlled trials (RCT) investigating this efficacy for IV iron are small, limited, and inconclusive. Consequently, a meta-analysis that pools these studies may provide new and clinically useful information.

Databases of MEDLINE, EMBASE, EBM Reviews; Cochrane-controlled trial registry; Scopus; registries of health technology assessment and clinical trials; Web of Science; ProQuest Dissertations and Theses; Clinicaltrials.gov; and Conference Proceedings Citation Index-Science (CPCI-S) were searched. Also, we screened all the retrieved reference lists.

Titles and abstracts were screened for relevance (i.e., relevant, irrelevant, or potentially relevant). Then, we screened full texts of those citations identified as potentially applicable.
