and lymphocyte values, which can be calculated using complete blood count parameters, may also be useful in the evaluation of nutritional status in these patients. In our study, the cut-off values determined for NLR, PLR, LMR, basophil and lymphocyte were 7.97, 291.10 and 2.606, 0.035 and 1.18, respectively. We think that the results we have obtained can provide preliminary information for future research.
To explore the offset distribution of pupillary centres, the offset between the pupil centre and the coaxially sighted corneal light reflex (P-Dist) and their correlation in femtosecond laser combined with excimer laser in situ keratomileusis.

Randomly selected 194 patients (398 eyes) who underwent femtosecond-assisted laser in situ keratomileusis with preoperative use of WaveLight Allegro Topolyzer Corneal Topography (WaveLight Laser Technologies AG, Erlangen, Germany) to measure the pupil size and centre position. The P-Dist of the patients was recorded by the X and Y axis eyeball tracking adjustment program of the WaveLight Eagle Vision EX500 excimer laser system.

The P-Dist was 0.214 ± 0.092 mm in the right eyes and 0.228 ± 0.105 mm in the left eyes (P = .041). Under scotopic conditions, the pupil centre of left eye X-axis was -0.046 ± 0.091 mm, the right eye was -0.152 ± 0.084 mm, with significant differences (P = .015), and the Y-axis direction showed no significant changes (P = .062). The white to white was positively correlated with changes of pupil diameter (scotopic pupil diameter-photopic pupil diameter) (r = 0.270, P < .001). The equivalent spherical mirror and measured centroid shift were negatively correlated (r = -0.214, P = .002).

The angle kappa of the right eye is smaller than that of the left eye and from scotopic to photopic condition, the pupil centroid shift of both eyes to the nasal inferior side. If the cornea is too large, the low illumination environment should be maintained during the operation to improve the efficiency of pupil matching.

Patients with a single ventricle, who have not undergone surgery, reportedly have a lower survival rate. Lanifibranor Furthermore, multiple pregnancies are rare among these females. We reported a case of anesthesia management of cesarean section in an uncorrected single-ventricular multi-pregnancy woman and review the anesthesia management of the published similar cases.

An uncorrected single ventricular pregnant woman with a cardiac function of New York Heart Association class II, who had experienced one spontaneous abortion and three vaginal deliveries, was scheduled for cesarean section at 37+6 weeks of gestation.

Echocardiography revealed a complex congenital heart disease in the mother a single ventricle (the left ventricle is dominant), atrioventricular valve ectopic, double-inlet left ventricle, abnormal location of the great arteries, probably pulmonary stenosis, atrial septal defect, and left-to-right shunt. The fetus was in breech presentation with umbilical cord around the neck.

Cesarean section was suvascular resistance, as well as to maintain preload and cardiac output.
Granulocytic sarcoma (GS) is an uncommon extramedullary tumor, and involvement of the female reproductive system is very rare.

We present a case of cervical GS in a 45-year-old woman who presented with repeated vaginal bleeding after sex for 1 month.

The patient was diagnosed with cervical GS mainly based on pathological immunohistochemical examination and further progressed to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) based on bone marrow puncture and cytogenetic analysis.

The patient underwent hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy, and subsequently received AML-type chemotherapy. She relapsed 3 months after therapy and progressed to AML. The patient was then treated with chemotherapy with cytosine arabinoside and idarubicin again and achieved complete remission after 1 cycle. Currently, she is still receiving therapy combined with cytosine arabinoside and idarubicin, and has been alive for 13 months.

Although GS of the reproductive system is rare, it should be included in the differential diagnosis of gynecological neoplasms and should be treated with AML-type chemotherapy protocols.

Uterine cervix tumors have an invasive nature, with the capacity to proliferate to surrounding organs such as the vagina, bladder, and rectum, as well as the capacity for dissemination and involvement of structures distant from its place of origin. According to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics, patients with stages IB I, IB I microscopic (small dimension <4 cm) are indicated for radiotherapy or adjuvant chemoradiotherapy with cisplatin (40 mg/m2). However, cisplatin has side effects such as hematological implications (anemia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia), gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation), and fatigue. Zingiber officinale contains bioactive compounds that act on pregnancy and postoperative nausea, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, and also in the management of fatigue, myalgia, and insomnia. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of ginger on chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in patients with cervical cancer undergoing tr.Katanin subunits p60 and p80 are involved in microtubule-mediated cytoskeletal organization during cell division. Their aberrant expression has been found in prostate, breast, and non-small cell lung (NSCLC) cancers. It has recently been reported that compared with adjacent papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) tissues, both are highly expressed in tumor tissues. Here, we investigated whether katanin subunits p60 and p80 can be used as potential biomarkers for PTC to distinguish nodular goiter (NG).Immunohistochemistry was performed to investigate the expression of katanin subunits p60 and p80 in the tissues of 97 cases of PTC and NG. This cohort included 87 cases with PTC (74 classical or conventional (CPTC) and 13 follicular (FVPTC) variants) and 10 cases with NG.We found that katanin subunits p60 and p80 were expressed in PTC, but not in NG. The cutoff values of katanin p60 and p80 for PTC were 22.43% and 0.83%, respectively. The katanin subunit p60 was significantly associated with lymph node metastasis. Katanin subunit p80 was more highly expressed in CPTC than in FVPTC. The expression of the katanin subunit p60 was positively correlated with the expression of katanin p80 in PTC. Importantly, we found that overexpression of katanin p60 increased the expression of katanin p80 in a human papillary thyroid carcinoma KTC-1 cell line, which further supports the existence of katanin p60 and p80 feedback loops. Our results indicate that katanin subunits p60 and p80 may be used as potential PTC biomarkers to distinguish NG and may be novel therapeutic targets for PTC.
Prompt diagnosis of nontuberculous Mycobacterial (NTM) vertebral osteomyelitis is challenging, yet necessary to prevent serious morbidity and mortality. Here, we report 3 cases of vertebral osteomyelitis caused by NTM with imaging findings.

Case 1, a 58-year-old male patient, was admitted to our hospital because of the presence of a pulmonary mass for 6 months with cough and chest pain.Case 2, a 50-year-old male patient, had fever and cough for 3 years and was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Antituberculosis treatment was ineffective, accompanied by lymph node enlargement and osteosclerotic changes involving vertebral bodies.Case 3, a 66-year-old female patient, was admitted to our hospital with a mass on the top of her head for 1 month, which ruptured in the last 2 weeks.

Case 1 Sputum culture revealed Mycobacterium (M.) avium.Case 2 The final culture results of the lymph node biopsy samples were M. intracellulare.Case 3 Culture results of the sputum and pus from the abscess were M. gordon. We found scleronjunction with continuous inflammatory symptoms and signs. Moreover, an open biopsy of the lesion should be performed for a definitive diagnosis.
In our 3 cases of NTM vertebral osteomyelitis, bone lesions were often misdiagnosed as bony metastases because of the presence of multiple sclerotic lesions. Diagnoses were challenging and delayed. It is important to consider osteomyelitis by NTM when disseminated osteosclerosis with or without osteolytic bone lesions is present in conjunction with continuous inflammatory symptoms and signs. Moreover, an open biopsy of the lesion should be performed for a definitive diagnosis.
Fiberoptic bronchoscopy is an invasive procedure known to induce anxiety in patients. Binaural beat therapy, in which sounds of different frequencies are delivered to the 2 ears to entrain the brainwaves, has been used to reduce anxiety in some operations. This study aimed to determine the anxiolytic effects of binaural beat audio in patients undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy.

Eligible subjects were randomly assigned to receive binaural beat music, plain music, or no music. They were asked to wear earphones starting approximately 15 minutes before the bronchoscopy. The level of anxiety was measured using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory questionnaire. Blood pressure, heart rate, and sedative drug administration were also recorded.

One hundred and twelve subjects were randomized into binaural beat music (n = 38), plain music (n = 38), and no music (n = 36) groups. The mean change in post-bronchoscopy State-Trait Anxiety Inventory state score in the binaural beat music, plain music, and no music group was -7.26 (P < .001), -3.92 (P = .005), and -1.12 (P = .454), respectively. The mean systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure significantly decreased from baseline by -9.89 (P = .002) and -5.76 (P = .005), respectively, in the binaural group. The mean heart rate increased from baseline by 3.32 (P = .035), 5.21 (P = .038), and 3.64 (P = .149) in the binaural beat music, plain music, and no music groups, respectively.

Registered 14 September 2020 - Retrospectively registered.Prospective case-control studyThis study aimed to investigate the effect of self-quarantine on the changes in low back symptoms and activities of daily living (ADL) due to low physical activity because of the COVID-19 pandemic in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS).The frequency and intensity of low back and leg pain have reportedly increased in healthy subjects because of self-quarantine.Patients with LSS who self-quarantined from baseline (SQ group) were matched to controls who did not self-quarantine (non-SQ group), based on age, sex, medication, ADL, and the numeric rating scale score for low back symptoms. The change in low back symptoms, ADL, and health-related quality of life between baseline and follow-up were compared between the groups. The SQ and non-SQ group included 80 and 60 patients, respectively. Compared with the baseline, the numeric rating scale score for low back pain at follow-up in the SQ group significantly improved (P = .004, median; 1 point), but not in the non-SQ group. No significant difference was found regarding changes in leg pain or numbness.
