Jordan: Grandfather is important in his life taught him lots of his current values constantly thinks of him when he breaks down barriers currently is at UBC. Uses school to learn more about who he is and learn more about the future. Wants to use what he learned to help the Indigenous people, says he would be where he is today without his community that he belongs to. Measqueam community participated in a vigil for 200 days. Learned so much just from participating in his community. Learned that his community is rich in knowledge, rich in teachings, etc

Vanessa: Part of musqueam indian band, 3rd eldest of 6 children, want to learn more about cultural identity, instead of taking french or Spanish as a language, she chose to take an indigenous language, grandma spoke hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ as a child but got PTSD from residential schools. Learning language helped her find strength, and she wants to be a figure for people to look up to. Wants the world to know about the musqueam people where hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ is spoken on a daily basis
