Patients aged 41-50 yr with bone height of 12-14 mm occurred most often. For implant placement, females showed significant bone height in the posterior maxillary region, and age did not play a significant part in posterior bone height.Three-dimensional (3D) printing is a newly established concept in orthopedics compared with other industries. Surgical applications of 3D printing and tissue engineering have been investigated since the early 2000s, almost two decades after Charles Hull had patented the first device currently in use for additive manufacturing, also known as rapid prototyping or more commonly 3D printing, and whose initial formal appellation was stereolithography (SLA). Despite technological progress, substantial principles have largely remained unaltered. Training directly on patients and on cadavers is considered the "gold standard" for learning and developing suitable surgical qualifications. However, restrictions concerning patient safety, ethical dilemmas, lack of availability, etc., have to be taken into account. Thus, 3D representations can be utilized as an educational tool both for patients to improve their understanding of their condition and also medical students, residents, and surgeons to comprehend complex anatomical structures and practice their surgical maneuvers to be prepared and more confident in theater.Diabetes and other medically compromising diseases may affect people in many ways. Missing teeth can be replaced by various methods including dental implants. The stability, a more natural appearance, and minimizing the risk of bone resorption attribute to its direct anchor into bones. Nevertheless, diabetic patients may experience failure of implant placement due to microvascular complications that lead to sluggish healing after surgery. In addition, some medications are believed to impair bone healing, thus compromising dental implant success. This paper evaluates osseointegration and crestal bone loss of implants placed in medically compromised patients. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted using patient records from Department of Prosthodontics, Saveetha Dental College, Chennai, from June 2019 to March 2020. Patients who had dental implants and were medically compromised were chosen randomly. Data were collected and then subjected to statistical analysis. Descriptive statistics analysis was done to find the correlation between crestal bone loss and medically compromised individuals. Microsoft Excel 2016 data spreadsheets were used to collect data, which were later exported to SPSS. Among 89 patients, more than 60% experienced crestal bone loss following implant placement. Diabetic patients recorded the highest prevalence of bone loss in comparison to other medically compromised patients. A significant association was found between crestal bone loss and diabetic patients (p less then 0.05) Patients whose diseases were under control with medication were also observed to have bone loss. Overall, the prevalence of crestal bone loss seems to be higher in diabetic patients compared to other medically compromised patients. There seems to be definite correlation between diabetes and crestal bone loss.Introduction - The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is considered to be highly contagious and restriction of transmission requires the utilization of protective equipment like surgical masks from both healthcare workers and public. The aim of this review is to investigate the role of surgical masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods - A literature research was conducted via PubMed to detect articles featuring the potential protective role of surgical masks when they were worn by healthcare workers or by the general public. Results - Among 114 articles, only 31 met the inclusion criteria. Thirteen additional articles provided useful information according to the aim of this review. Existing literature supports the positive effect of surgical masks on COVID-19 con-lamination. Debate on the efficacy of surgical masks compared with other forms of facial protective devices exists. There seems to be a tendency to favor the use of particulate-filtering facepiece respirators in healthcare professionals who face higher risk of infection. However, surgical masks primarily and cloth masks secondarily seem to be adequate means of protection for the general public and for healthcare workers during procedures where respiratory droplets are not generated. Rational use of surgical masks is imperative; however, reuse after decontamination is not ideal. Conclusions - For optimum protection from COVID-19, the use of surgical masks should be combined with other infection control measures like hand hygiene and social distancing, since the level of their effectiveness is still being investigated. Shortage of surgical masks should be prevented; therefore, rational use plays a crucial role in this direction.Alveolar ridge resorption occurs after tooth extraction and has the potential to either complicate implant placement or impair the final aesthetic result. Techniques to preserve natural bone and soft-tissue contours are beneficial to clinicians and patients because postextraction buccal plate resorption may have significant clinical effects, especially in the aesthetic zone. This study aims to evaluate the aesthetic outcome of implants in the anterior zone after socket preservation and conventional placement. GSK 2837808A mouse Data were collected from a total of 86,000 patients who visited Saveetha Dental College between June 2019 and March 2020. The data of 105 patients in whom anterior implants were placed either after socket preservation or after extraction in this frame were retrieved. Pink aesthetic scoring (PES) and white aesthetic scoring (WES) were carried out, and the data obtained were tabulated in SPSS for Windows, version 20. Unpaired t-testing compared the two techniques, and Pearson chi square correlation detected potential associations with age and gender. It was found that PES and WES scores were significantly higher (p less then 0.05) in implant prostheses placed after socket preservation compared to those placed after a healing period of 3 to 6 months after tooth extraction. Associations of aesthetic scores with age and gender were statistically insignificant. It was concluded that aesthetic outcomes of implants placed after socket preservation were better than those for implants conventionally placed.
