Trends in Safety Sensors
Safety sensors help prevent accidents by monitoring objects, people or environments for potential risks. By tracking an object's position, movement and status to alert drivers or shut down machines that pose an imminent danger, safety sensors help safeguard workers by keeping an eye on oxygen levels, chemical presences, fluid/gas concentration and humidity to create a healthy working environment.

To avoid issues, be sure to follow your manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning sensors. A poorly performing sensor could lead to accidents; to protect yourself it is a good idea to regularly check and replace worn or damaged parts as soon as they appear. At times, this may involve replacing just the photodiode and amplifier of a photoelectric safety sensor, replacing reflective film on a light curtain, or fixing optical components such as lenses and mirrors.
