Our findings highlight the significance of DDX5 in the recurrence and clinical outcome of BC patients and suggest that DDX5 may be a potential predictive biomarker for patients with BC.Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is the most common urinary tumor in dogs and despite combinational therapies, only modest improvements in survival have been achieved in recent years. Given the utility of monoclonal antibodies against PD-1 and PD-L1 in human UC, we evaluated the protein and mRNA expression in three established canine urothelial carcinoma cell lines. Flow cytometry and western blot analysis confirmed cell line expression of both molecules in varying degrees. Reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) documented mRNA expression in all three cell lines for both PD-1 and PD-L1. Fluorescence microscopy was consistent with strong PD-1 and PD-L1 expression in the canine cell lines and was in line with previous human literature. Importantly, the flow cytometry work described in this study revealed higher cell intrinsic PD-1 expression in these cell lines which may have implications for tumor behavior and potential treatment opportunities in the future. Further work is necessary to determine the expression patterns in canine UC and potential for benefit with immunotherapy directed against PD-1 and PD-L1.This paper presents results of a research priority setting process focused on trans women living with and affected by HIV across Canada. It features data from semi-structured interviews and focus groups conducted with a diverse group of 76 trans women in five urban centers across the country on how they have navigated health and social service programming within their geographic context. The results focus on the structure and types of services. Respondents offered simple, yet creative ways to address barriers to vital services based on their individual and collective experiences. Notably, participants stressed the need for 1) trans-friendly and trans-specific services, 2) integrated health services, and aid in navigating complex, overlapping systems, and 3) comprehensive community-based services. They also suggest employing trans women as care coordinators or case managers in order to foster more trans-friendly environments and empower community members. We identify concrete ways to improve health and social services at the level of service delivery and program design, as well as recommendations for future participatory research. We close with an interrogation of trans people, and trans women living with and affected by HIV in particular, as 'hard to reach' populations.
Due to the lack of sufficient studies focusing on titanium mesh cage size, there exists a puzzle among surgeons about how to determine the optimal size of cage to provide surgical segments an adequate distraction.
The biomechanical responses of cervical spine after the implantation of cages with different heights and trimmed angles were analyzed using the finite element method. Twenty Anterior Cervical Corpectomy and Fusion models, of which the surgical segment was C5, were developed corresponding to the combinations of 4-different-heights and 5-different-trimmed angle cages. Biomechanical parameters were calculated under simulated physiological load of cervical spine. A rating scale was designed to assess the biomechanical performances of titanium mesh cages with different heights and trimmed angles comprehensively, assisting to select the most appropriate combination of cage height and trimmed angle.
It was indicated that in the single-level Anterior Cervical Corpectomy and Fusion at C5 segment, a cage with a height fitting with the space between C4 and C6 as well as a trimmed angle 2° lower than the sagittal angle of C4 inferior endplate would provide adequate biomechanical environment for cervical spine to resist cage subsidence and reduce the impact to adjacent segments.
The biomechanical responses of cervical spine are affected significantly by the height and trimmed angles of titanium mesh cage. The results of this study would provide quantitative guidance for surgeons to determine the optimal height and trimmed angle of titanium mesh cage for a specific patient in order to achieve favorable clinical outcomes.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the piezo surgery comparing with conventional osteotomy in orthognathic surgery.
We conducted this systemic review in accordance with the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement. We searched for relevant studies in the PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase databases, Lilacs, Scopus and Science Direct to identify prospective and retrospective studies, compare patient outcomes (intraoperative blood loss, operative time, neurosensory disturbance) after performing orthognathic surgery by conventional saw or piezo-electric device. According to pool individual results we used the mean difference (MD) with the 95% confidence interval (95% CI).
Among three studies that used conventional saw and three studies used piezo-electric device and nine studies used both techniques, the operative time required to perform orthognathic standard procedures was longer using piezo-electric device compared to conventionaery. This study aimed to investigate the synthesis and potential vasodilator effect of a novel ruthenium complex, cis-[Ru(bpy)2(2-MIM)(NO2)]PF6 (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine and 2-MIM = 2-methylimidazole) (FOR711A), containing an imidazole derivative via an in silico molecular docking model using β1 H-NOX (Heme-nitric oxide/oxygen binding) domain proteins of reduced and oxidized soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC). In addition, pharmacokinetic properties in the human organism were predicted through computational simulations and the potential for acute irritation of FOR711A was also investigated in vitro using the hen's egg chorioallantoic membrane (HET-CAM). FOR711A interacted with sites of the β1 H-NOX domain of reduced and oxidized sGC, demonstrating shorter bond distances to several residues and negative values of total energy. The predictive study revealed molar refractivity (RM) 127.65; Log Po/w = 1.29; topological polar surface area (TPSA) 86.26 Å2; molar mass (MM) = 541.55 g/mol; low solubility, high unsaturation index, high gastrointestinal absorption; toxicity class 4; failure to cross the blood-brain barrier and to react with cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP2C9, CYP2D6 and CYP3A4. After the HET-CAM assay, the FOR711A complex was classified as non-irritant (N.I.) and its vasodilator effect was confirmed through greater evidence of blood vessels after the administration and ending of the observation period of 5 min. These results suggest that FOR711A presented a potential stimulator/activator effect of sGC via NO/sGC/cGMP. However, results indicate it needs a vehicle for oral administration. In vitro aortic flow simulators allow studying hemodynamics with a wider range of flow visualization techniques compared to in vivo medical imaging and without the limitations of invasive examinations. This work aims to develop an experimental bench to emulate the pulsatile circulation in a realistic aortic phantom. To mimic the blood shear thinning behavior, a non-Newtonian aqueous solution is prepared with glycerin and xanthan gum polymer. The flow is compared to a reference flow of Newtonian fluid. Particle image velocimetry is carried out to visualize 2D velocity fields in a phantom section. The experimental loop accurately recreates flowrates and pressure conditions and preserves the shear-thinning properties of the non-Newtonian fluid. Velocity profiles, shear rate, and shear stress distribution maps show that the Newtonian fluid tends to dampen the observed velocities. Preferential asymmetrical flow paths are observed in a diameter narrowing region and amplified in the non-Newtonian case. Wall shear stresses are about twice higher in the non-Newtonian case. This study shows new insights on flow patterns, velocity and shear stress distributions compared to rigid and simplified geometry aorta phantom with Newtonian fluid flows studies. The use of a non-Newtonian blood analog shows clear differences in flows compared to the Newtonian one in this compliant patient-specific geometry. The development of this aortic simulator is a promising tool to better analyze and understand aortic hemodynamics and to aid in clinical decision-making.Like other developing countries, Burkina Faso is one of the preferential destinations for second-hand electrical and electronic equipments (EEE). At the end of their life, these EEEs are classified as waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) including Printed Circuit Boards (PCB). A particle size reduction is realized for the release of metals by shredding and grinding to obtain particles smaller 1.5 mm. A granulometric sorting was realized and nine granulometric portions were obtained. Particles were characterized by optical microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy coupled with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS). The experiments confirmed that the fractions contained polymers, glass fibers and metals under the form of single metals or alloys. The release of metal was efficient for particles with a size smaller than 0.71 mm. Three digestion procedures were experimented on four components to assess the impact on metals leaching. Microwave-assisted digestion method was the best procedure, compared to the analysis methods ISO 11466 1995, and method 3050B, adapted. The characterization by Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) of these PCBs exhibited important amounts of precious metals (Ag, Au, Pd) and other metals in greater quantities (Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, etc.), leading to their qualification as "Urban Mines" calling for their recovery. The characterization of metals in each granulometric portion is realized. Precious and others metals were distributed in all granulometric size portions. So granulometric size reduction was not efficient for metal separation and recovery from PCBs and alternative methods should be investigated for selective precious metal recovery. The paper discusses the experience of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in the management of municipal solid waste landfills and dumpsites. Although the use of drones at waste disposal sites (WDS) has a more than ten-year history, the active application of these technologies has increased in the last 3-4 years. The paper analyzes scientific publications of 2010-2021 (July) and identifies the main WDS management task groups for which the solution of UAV can be used. It illustrates that most of the research is devoted to studying spatial and volumetric characteristics of landfills, which is connected with the practical needs. About a quarter of the publications focus on monitoring the emissions of landfill gas or its individual components, mainly methane. DFMO mouse Issues of a comprehensive assessment of the technological and environmental safety of landfills and dumps are covered in the scientific literature fragmentarily and insufficiently. At the same time, the current level of technologies for collecting and processing remote sensing air data (UAV, sensors for aerial imagery, software for photogrammetric processing of aerial imagery data, geographic information systems (GIS)) makes it possible to identify and assess many environmental effects of landfills and dumps and to monitor compliance with the standards for the landfills operation, which could bring management of these facilities to a fundamentally different level.
