Objectives Current tobacco use (CTU) and secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure among older adults in India (≥60 years) are prevalent in India and indicate the importance of addressing associated factors. Methods Pooled Global Adult Tobacco Survey India 2009-2010 and 2016-2017 data (n = 17,299) for older adults examined prevalence of CTU and SHS exposure at home and/or in public places and associated socioeconomic and demographic correlates. Results CTU among older adults in India was 44.6%, and SHS exposure at home and public places were 20.0% and 30.0%, respectively. Men, younger age-group, rural, lower education, lower wealth index, and lower knowledge were independently associated with CTU. Men, rural, lower education, lower wealth index, CTU, and lower knowledge were independently associated with SHS exposure at home. Men, younger age, and rural residence were associated with SHS exposure in public places. Conclusion CTU and SHS exposure among older adults in India suggest targeted interventions to address associated social and demographic factors.Immune checkpoint inhibitors have emerged as a novel treatment in a wide variety of malignancies; however, it is associated with a distinctive array of side effects known as immune-related adverse events. Hyperprogression is defined as an accelerated growth of disease burden in patients treated with immunotherapy. Limited literature is available regarding hyperprogression in hepatocellular cancer. We report a case of a 36-year-old male with no past medical history who presented with nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain and was diagnosed with unresectable hepatocellular cancer and thereby started on atezolizumab and bevacizumab. read more The patient got only 1 cycle of treatment and unfortunately had hyperprogression of disease. Objectives This study compares the associations of two subjective lifetime perspectives, subjective age (SA) and subjective life expectancy (SLE), with physical performance, self-rated health, and depressive symptoms. Methods 64 91-year-old participants were selected from three waves of the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (2008/09, 2011/12, 2015/16; n = 1822 participants, n = 3500 observations) that included graphical and numerical measures of SA and SLE. We used generalized estimating equations to examine their associations with health. Results Associations of SA/SLE with health were weaker for physical performance than for self-rated health and depressive symptoms. The associations of SA and SLE with physical performance were of similar magnitude but with self-rated health depended on the type of measure. Depressive symptoms, instead, showed a stronger association with SA than with SLE. Graphical measures showed weaker associations than numerical measures. Discussion The way in which subjective lifetime perspectives and health are conceptualized and measured influences the strength of their associations.Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is the leading cause of death in patients with refractory epilepsy. Likely pathophysiological mechanisms include seizure-induced cardiac and respiratory dysregulation. A frequently identified feature in SUDEP cases is that they occur at night. This raises the question of a role for sleep state in regulating of SUDEP. An association with sleep has been identified in a number of studies with patients and in animal models. The focus of this section of the Sleep and Epilepsy Workshop was on identifying and understanding the role for sleep and time of day in the pathophysiology of SUDEP.
To estimate household exposure to COVID-19 related stress and the association with parent report of neglectful, harsh, and positive discipline practices.

Cross sectional survey data was collected from 2,068 parents in the Northeastern US. Parents reported personal and household experiences of COVID-19 stressors, their level of distress, and use of neglectful parenting and discipline practices for a randomly selected child in their home. Analyses estimated rates of COVID-19 related stress and parenting practices. Logistic regression was used to assess the relation of COVID-19 stress to parenting behaviors.

Individual and household stressor level, as well as distress were each positively associated with likelihood of neglect. Personal exposure to stressors was minimally related to discipline, but household stressor level and parents' distress were positively associated with harsh and positive discipline.

Indicators of COVID-19 stress (e.g., exposure to stressors and distress) each uniquely predicted parents' use of neglect, particularly physical and family-based sub-types, and use of harsh and positive discipline practices. Results suggest that parents may require additional support to provide appropriate care for their children while coping with the increased rates of stress associated with the pandemic and the resulting public health response.

This study aimed to assess the influence of pubertal status on the results of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in children with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

We enrolled 167 consecutive children with T1D. Retinal superficial capillary plexus (SCP) and deep capillary plexus (DCP) vessel density data underwent analysis. We divided the study population into three subgroups depending on the pubertal status.

Analysis of the prepubertal and pubertal subgroups revealed statistically significant differences in foveal thickness (FT) (p < 0.05) and foveal SCP (p < 0.02). Analyzing subgroups of the prepubertal and postpubertal children, we observed statistically significant differences in FT (p < 0.03), whole SCP (p < 0.02), and foveal SCP (p < 0.02). Comparison of the pubertal and postpubertal subjects revealed differences in parafoveal DCP (p < 0.003). In the groups matched depending on diabetes duration, we observed differences between prepubertal, pubertal, and postpubertal children in FT, PFT, and parafoveal SCP and DCP.
