AgNPs showed surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of approximately 408 nm and average size of 3 nm. The starch-capped AgNPs successfully induced damage in cytoplasmic membrane and mitochondria, at concentrations equal and above 20 ppm. These damages lead to cell cycle arrest in G0/G1 and G2/M, blockage of proliferation and death in LNCaP and PC-3 cells, respectively. This data shows these AgNPs' potential as anticancer agents for the different stages of PC.Anal squamous cell carcinoma is the most frequent virus-related non-AIDS-defining neoplasia among HIV-infected individuals, especially MSM. The objectives of this study were to analyze the effectiveness of the quadrivalent HPV (qHPV) vaccine to prevent anal ≥ high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (≥HSILs), external ano-genital lesions (EAGLs), and infection by qHPV vaccine genotypes in HIV+ MSM, and to study the immunogenicity of the vaccine and risk factors for ≥ HSILs. This study is nested within a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of the qHPV vaccine, which enrolled participants between May 2012 and May 2014, with a 48-month follow-up. A vaccine or placebo was administered at 0, 2, and 6 months, and vaccine antibody titers were evaluated at 7, 12, 24, 36, and 48 months. Data were gathered at 12, 24, 36, and 48 months on sexual habits, CD4/CD8 cell/counts, HIV viral load, and the results of cytology (Thin Prep® Pap Test), HPV PCR genotyping (Linear Array HPV Genotyping Test), and higharison to those vaccinated for a longer period (82.4% vs. 17.6% (OR 0.869 [95% CI, 0.825-0.917]). Vaccine and placebo arms did not significantly differ in ≥ HSIL or EAGL rates or in protection against infection by HPV genotype vaccine except for HPV6 at 12 months after the first dose. A long-lasting immune response was observed in almost all the vaccinated men. The main protective factor against ≥ HSIL was to have completed the vaccination regimen more than 6 months earlier.Cellulose/polyethyleneimine composites have increasingly attracted the attention of scientific community, devoted to the design and development of new synthetic strategies and materials for different application fields. In this review, after introducing the main characteristics of the two polymeric components, we provide in the second section a critical overview on the main protocols for the synthesis of these composites, considering both the several cellulose sources and forms, and the different cross-linkers and cross-linking procedures developed for this purpose, outlining advantages and limits for the reported approaches. The last section analyses the principal results obtained in different application fields. A wide discussion is dedicated to the principal use of cellulose/polyethyleneimine composites as sorbents for water remediation from heavy metal ions and organic contaminants. Subsequently, we introduce the literature describing the use of these composites, functionalized appropriately, where necessary, as drug delivery systems, sensors, and heterogeneous catalysts for organic reactions. Finally, after a brief description of other random applications, we furnish a personal analysis of actual limits and potentialities for these systems.Animal activity acoustic monitoring is becoming one of the necessary tools in agriculture, including beekeeping. It can assist in the control of beehives in remote locations. It is possible to classify bee swarm activity from audio signals using such approaches. A deep neural networks IoT-based acoustic swarm classification is proposed in this paper. Audio recordings were obtained from the Open Source Beehive project. Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients features were extracted from the audio signal. The lossless WAV and lossy MP3 audio formats were compared for IoT-based solutions. An analysis was made of the impact of the deep neural network parameters on the classification results. The best overall classification accuracy with uncompressed audio was 94.09%, but MP3 compression degraded the DNN accuracy by over 10%. The evaluation of the proposed deep neural networks IoT-based bee activity acoustic classification showed improved results if compared to the previous hidden Markov models system. The development of membrane technology from biopolymer for water filtration has received a great deal of attention from researchers and scientists, owing to the growing awareness of environmental protection. The present investigation is aimed at producing poly(D-lactic acid) (PDLA) membranes, incorporated with nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) and cellulose nanowhisker (CNW) at different loadings of 1 wt.% (PDNC-I, PDNW-I) and 2 wt.% (PDNC-II PDNW-II). From morphological characterization, it was evident that the nanocellulose particles induced pore formation within structure of the membrane. Furthermore, the greater surface reactivity of CNW particles facilitates in enhancing the surface wettability of membranes due to increased hydrophilicity. In addition, both thermal and mechanical properties for all nanocellulose filled membranes under investigation demonstrated significant improvement, particularly for PDNW-I-based membranes, which showed improvement in both aspects. The membrane of PDNW-I presented water permeability of 41.92 L/m2h, when applied under a pressure range of 0.1-0.5 MPa. The investigation clearly demonstrates that CNWs-filled PDLA membranes fabricated for this investigation have a very high potential to be utilized for water filtration purpose in the future. When performing fault diagnosis tasks on bearings, the change of any bearing's rotation speed will cause the frequency spectrum of bearing fault characteristics to be blurred. This makes it difficult to extract stable fault features based on manual or intelligent methods, resulting in a decrease in diagnostic accuracy. In this paper, a two-stage, intelligent fault diagnosis method (order-tracking one-dimensional convolutional neural network, OT-1DCNN) is proposed to deal with the problem of fault diagnosis under variable speed conditions. Firstly, the order tracking algorithm is used to resample the monitoring data obtained under different rotation speeds. Then, the one-dimensional convolutional neural network is adopted to extract features of the fault data. Finally, the fault type of collected data can be obtained by fully connected networks based on the features extracted. In the time domain, while the proposed algorithm only relies on the fault data collected under one speed as the training dataset, it is capable of doing fault diagnosis under different speed conditions. In the condition with the largest difference in speed with each dataset, the accuracy of the proposed method is higher than the baseline methods by 0.54% and 11.00%-on CWRU dataset and our own dataset respectively. The results show that the proposed method performs well in dealing with the fault diagnosis under the condition of variable speeds.Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) recurrence after kidney transplantation (KTx) is relatively frequent and is associated with poor graft survival. The aim of this study was to investigate which management strategies were associated with better outcomes in our cohort of KTx recipients with primary FSGS. We retrospectively collected data on patients with primary FSGS who received a KTx between 1993 and 2019. A history of biopsy proven FSGS in native kidneys and new onset of significant proteinuria early post-KTx led to the diagnosis of recurrence, which was confirmed by graft biopsy. From 1993 to 2019 we performed 46 KTxs in patients with primary FSGS. We identified 26 episodes of recurrence in 25 patients, 67% of them occurring in males. They were younger at the time of KTx (33.8 vs. 41.1 years old, p = 0.067) and had progressed to end stage renal disease (ESRD) faster after FSGS diagnosis (61.4 vs. 111.2 months, p = 0.038), while they were less likely to have received prophylactic plasmapheresis (61.5% vs. 90%, p = 0.029). AZD4547 order 76.7% of recurrences were found early, after a median of 0.5 months (IQR 0.1-1) with a median proteinuria was 8.5 (IQR 4.9-11.9) g/day. All patients with recurrence were treated with plasmapheresis, while 8 (30.7%) additionally received rituximab, 1 (3.8%) abatacept, and 4 (15.4%) ACTH. 7 (27%) patients experienced complete and 11 (42.3%) partial remission after a mean time of 3 (±1.79) and 4.4 (±2.25) months, respectively. Prognosis was worse for patients who experienced a recurrence. Eleven (42.3%) patients lost their graft from FSGS in a median time of 33 (IQR 17.5-43.3) months. In this series of patients, primary FSGS recurred frequently after KTx. Prophylacic plasmapheresis was shown efficacious in avoiding FSGS recurrence, while timely diagnosis and plasmapheresis-based regimens induced remission in more than half of the patients.
Studies have shown that aggressive treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with oligometastatic disease improves the overall survival (OS) compared to a palliative approach and some immunotherapy checkpoint inhibitors, such as anti-programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1), anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), and T-Lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) inhibitors are now part of the standard of care for advanced NSCLC. However, the prognostic impact of PD-L1 expression in the oligometastatic setting remains unknown.

Patients with oligometastatic NSCLC were identified from the patient database of the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM). "Oligometastatic disease" definition chosen is one synchronous metastasis based on the M1b staging of the eight IASLC (The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer) Classification (within sixth months of diagnosis) or up to three cerebral metastasis based on the methodology of the previous major phase II randomized study of Grelated with mOS.

Aggressive treatments of oligometastatic NSCLC significantly improve mOS and mPFS compared to a more palliative approach. PD-L1 expression is a negative prognostic factor which suggests a possible role for immunotherapy in this setting.

By using Riccati substitution and comparison technique, new oscillation conditions are obtained which insure that all solutions of the studied equation are oscillatory. Our results complement some known results for neutral differential equations. An illustrative example is included.Accurate and rapid diagnostic tools are needed for management of the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Antibody tests enable detection of individuals past the initial phase of infection and help examine vaccine responses. The major targets of human antibody response in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are the spike glycoprotein (SP) and nucleocapsid protein (NP). We have developed a rapid homogenous approach for antibody detection termed LFRET (protein L-based time-resolved Förster resonance energy transfer immunoassay). In LFRET, fluorophore-labeled protein L and antigen are brought to close proximity by antigen-specific patient immunoglobulins of any isotype, resulting in TR-FRET signal. We set up LFRET assays for antibodies against SP and NP and evaluated their diagnostic performance using a panel of 77 serum/plasma samples from 44 individuals with COVID-19 and 52 negative controls. Moreover, using a previously described SP and a novel NP construct, we set up enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) for antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 SP and NP.
