Although gut microbiota has been suggested to play a role in disease phenotypes of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), little is known about its composition in affected children and how it relates to hyperphagia. This cross-sectional study aimed to characterize the gut bacterial and fungal communities of children with PWS, and to determine associations with hyperphagia. Fecal samples were collected from 25 children with PWS and 25 age-, sex-, and body mass index-matched controls. Dietary intake data, hyperphagia scores, and relevant clinical information were also obtained. Fecal bacterial and fungal communities were characterized by 16S rRNA and ITS2 sequencing, respectively. Overall bacterial α-diversity and compositions of PWS were not different from those of the controls, but 13 bacterial genera were identified to be differentially abundant. Interestingly, the fungal community, as well as specific genera, were different between PWS and controls. The majority of the variation in the gut microbiota was not attributed to differences in dietary intake or the impact of genotype. Hyperphagia scores were associated with fungal α-diversity and relative abundance of several taxa, such as Staphylococcus, Clostridium, SMB53, and Candida. Further longitudinal studies correlating changes in the microbiome with the degree of hyperphagia and studies integrating multi-omics data are warranted. In the presented research, conventional hot processing maps superimposed over the flow stress maps or activation energy maps are utilized to study a correlation among the efficiency of power dissipation, flow stress, and activation energy evolution in the case of Cr-Mo low-alloyed steel. All maps have been assembled on the basis of two flow curve datasets. The experimental one is the result of series of uniaxial hot compression tests. The predicted one has been calculated on the basis of the subsequent approximation procedure via a well-adapted artificial neural network. It was found that both flow stress and activation energy evolution are capable of expressing changes in the studied steel caused by the hot compression deformation. A direct association with the course of power dissipation efficiency is then evident in the case of both. The connection of the presence of instability districts to the activation energy evolution, flow stress course, and power dissipation efficiency was discussed further. Based on the obtained findings it can be stated that the activation energy processing maps represent another tool for the finding of appropriate forming conditions and can be utilized as a support feature for the conventionally-used processing maps to extend their informative ability.Although stimuli-responsive release systems have attracted great attention in medical applications, there has been no attempt at "precise" deep profile control based on such systems, which is greatly need to improve oil recovery. With this in mind, we provided a facile and simple strategy to prepare stimuli-responsive composite capsules of amphiphilic dendrimers-poly(styrene sulfonic acid) sodium/halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) via layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly technique, controlling the release crosslinking agent methenamine under different pH or salinity conditions. The release time of methenamine encapsulated in multilayer shells is about 40 h, which can be prolonged with the introduction of salt or shortened via the addition of acid, which accordingly induces the gelation of polyacrylamide (PAM) solutions, taking from a few hours to a dozen days. This study provided a novel approach for controllable release of chemical agents and controllable crosslinking of deep profiles in many application fields. The mites Varroa destructor Anderson and Trueman and Tropilaelaps mercedesae Anderson and Morgan are both serious threats to the Apis mellifera beekeeping industry. A trait frequently used in selection programs for V. destructor resistance is hygienic behavior, the selective removal of diseased/damaged brood. Here, we measured the level of association of the expression of hygienic behavior against both mites in A. mellifera, by observing whether the same individual bees would carry out the opening and removal of brood infested by the two parasites. The groups of bees showing these behaviors on cells artificially infested by either parasite showed a large overlap, making it appear likely that the two traits are at least closely coupled. Therefore, breeding for V. destructor resistance based on hygienic behavior could prepare A. mellifera populations for dealing with Tropilaelaps sp. mites, and vice versa. Using the same bioassay, we also compared the hygienic behavior of A. mellifera towards T. mercedesae to that of the Asiatic honey bee, Apis cerana. A. cerana workers eliminated a greater proportion of infested cells, which may in part explain the resistance of this bee to Tropilaelaps and the observation that Tropilaelaps reproduction on brood of this species is extremely rare.Although the risk assessment discipline has been studied from long ago as a means to support security investment decision-making, no holistic approach exists to continuously and quantitatively analyze cyber risks in scenarios where attacks and defenses may target different parts of Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart grid systems. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive methodology that enables informed decisions on security protection for smart grid systems by the continuous assessment of cyber risks. The solution is based on the use of attack defense trees modelled on the system and computation of the proposed risk attributes that enables an assessment of the system risks by propagating the risk attributes in the tree nodes. The method allows system risk sensitivity analyses to be performed with respect to different attack and defense scenarios, and optimizes security strategies with respect to risk minimization. The methodology proposes the use of standard security and privacy defense taxonomies from internationally recognized security control families, such as the NIST SP 800-53, which facilitates security certifications. Finally, the paper describes the validation of the methodology carried out in a real smart building energy efficiency application that combines multiple components deployed in cloud and IoT resources. The scenario demonstrates the feasibility of the method to not only perform initial quantitative estimations of system risks but also to continuously keep the risk assessment up to date according to the system conditions during operation. The development of non-noble metal catalysts for hydrogen revolution in alkaline media is highly desirable, but remains a great challenge. Herein, synergetic ultrathin NiO/MoS2 catalysts were prepared to improve the sluggish water dissociation step for HER in alkaline conditions. With traditional electrode assembly methods, MoS2NiO-31 exhibited the best catalytic performance; an overpotential of 158 mV was required to achieve a current density of 10 mA/cm2. Further, a synergetic ultrathin NiO/MoS2/nickel foam (NF) electrode was assembled by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) and post-processing reactions. The electrode displayed higher electrocatalytic ability and stability, and an overpotential of only 121 mV was needed to achieve a current density of 10 mA/cm2. The improvement was ascribed to the better catalytic environment, rather than a larger active surface area, a higher density of exposed active sites or other factors. DFT calculations indicated that the hybrid NiO/MoS2 heterostuctured interface is advantageous for the enhanced water dissociation step and the corresponding lower kinetic energy barrier-from 1.53 to 0.81 eV.A series of tem-responsive and protein-resistance property silica-di-block polymers SiO2-g-PMMA-b-P(PEGMA) hybrids are synthesized with methyl methacrylate (MMA) and poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA) by the surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP). The morphology in tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution, lower critical solution temperature (LCST), surface morphology, bovine serum albumin (BSA)-resistance property, and thermal stability of nanoparticles were analyzed. The results of 1H-NMR, GPC, and TEM prove that the silica-di-block hybrids have been obtained. The silica-di-block hybrids shows the LCST (52-64 °C) in aqueous solution. The hybrid films casted by THF present distributed uniform granular bulges and the film surface is relatively smooth (Ra = 15.4 nm ~ 10.5 nm). The results of QCM-D showed that only a small amount of BSA protein(△f = 18.6 ~ 11.8 Hz) was adsorbed on the surface of the films. The result of XPS also demonstrated that only a small amount of BSA protein was absorbed onto the surface of the film (N% = 1.86). The TGA analyses indicate that the thermal decomposition temperature of hybrids is 288 °C. Thus, it is suggested that the hybrids are served as a suitable coating with BSA resistance property and thermal stability.Missense, nonsense, splice site and regulatory region variants in interferon regulatory factor 6 (IRF6) have been shown to contribute to both syndromic and non-syndromic forms of cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P). We report the diagnostic evaluation of a complex multigeneration family of Honduran ancestry with a pedigree structure consistent with autosomal-dominant inheritance with both incomplete penetrance and variable expressivity. The proband's grandmother bore children with two partners and CL/P segregates on both sides of each lineage. Through whole-exome sequencing of five members of the family, we identified a single shared synonymous variant, located in the middle of exon 7 of IRF6 (p.Ser307Ser; g.209963979 G>A; c.921C>T). The variant was shown to segregate in the seven affected individuals and through three unaffected obligate carriers, spanning both sides of this pedigree. This variant is very rare, only being found in three (all of Latino ancestry) of 251,352 alleles in the gnomAD database. Robotic stereotactic assistance (ROSA®) for neurosurgery has been infrequently reported in the pediatric population. #link# The goal of this case series was to describe the clinical experience, anesthetic and operative management, and treatment outcomes for pediatric patients with intractable epilepsy undergoing ROSA® neurosurgery at a single-center institution. Patients who underwent implantation of stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) leads for intractable epilepsy with ROSA® were retrospectively evaluated between August 2016 and June 2018. ML141 supplier , perioperative management details, complications, and preliminary seizure outcomes after resective or ablative surgery were reviewed. link2 Nineteen children who underwent 23 ROSA® procedures for SEEG implantation were included in the study. Mean operative time was 148 min. Eleven patients had subsequent resective or ablative surgery, and ROSA® was used to assist with laser probe insertion in five patients for seizure foci ablation. link3 In total, 148 SEEG electrodes were placed without any perioperative complications. ROSA® is minimally invasive, provides superior accuracy for electrode placement, and requires less time than traditional surgical approaches for brain mapping. This emerging technology may improve the perioperative outcomes for pediatric patients with intractable epilepsy since large craniotomies are avoided; however, long-term follow-up studies are needed.
