Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has received increased attention as a major public health problem among adolescents. However, there is a lack of evidence testing the longitudinal association between cybervictimization and NSSI as well as its underlying mediating and moderating mechanisms. The current study investigated the potential mediator (i.e., anxiety symptoms) and moderator (i.e., self-control) of the relation between cybervictimization and NSSI over a 12-month period.

Three waves of data (called T1, T2 and T3) were collected 6 months apart, between November 2018 and 2019. 1987 Chinese adolescents completed self-report measures in their classrooms. SEM was used to test a moderated mediation model, with gender, age and childhood trauma and baseline measures as covariates.

The results found a longitudinal association between cybervictimization and NSSI as well as the mediating role of anxiety symptoms in explaining this association. Moderated mediation analyses revealed that greater cybervictimization contributed to anxiety symptoms, which in turn predicted increased levels of NSSI only among adolescents with lower self-control.

Measures of study variables were self-reported, and generalizability may be limited by a sample of adolescents from school in China.

Postpartum depression (PPD) is the most common complication women experience after delivery. We aimed to examine the association of maternalPPDwith delays in child development, in a population-based study, in the first two years of life.

A nation-wide population-based historical cohort study in the setting of the Mother and Child Health Clinics in Israel, where infants are routinely evaluated for growth and development. Data were retrieved on 96,623 infants born in 2014-2015 whose mothers had PPD screening. Logistic regressions were used to estimate the associations of PPD with the achievements of developmental milestones, controlling for potential confounders.

PPD was identified in 4,268 mothers (4.7%). PPD was associated with delays in language skills, including the production of voices in dialogue (OR=1.88, 95% CI 1.41-2.52) and speaking 2-3 words (OR=1.24, 95% CI 1.13-1.37). PPD was associated with about 1.5 times increased odds of delays in personal-social skills, including reacting to voices (OR=1.43, 95% CI 1.22-1.67) and pointing to selected objects (OR=1.47 95% CI 1.10-1.97). Associations were also seen with delays in fine motor and adaptive skills, such as pinching (OR=1.50, 95% CI 1.20-1.86), and gross motor skills, such as ground crawling (OR=1.36, 95% CI 1.15-1.60).

In this population-based large cohort study, PPD as estimated in a national screening program, was associated with delays in early child development, which were shown in all assessed domains. Future studies should confirm our results and intervention programs should be developed to effectively minimize these gaps.

. Cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) are two prominent evidence-based treatments for social anxiety disorder (SAD). It is not clear, however, whether outcomes of these two treatments are moderated by similar factors. For example, whereas anger suppression and anger expression each predict outcomes in cognitive- behavioral group therapy (CBGT), it is unknown whether they differentially influence outcomes in CBGT versus MBSR.

. One hundred eight participants with SAD were randomized to CBGT, MBSR or Waitlist (WL). WL participants were later randomized to CBGT or MBSR, and their data were combined with data from those originally randomized to CBGT or MBSR. Anger suppression and anger expression were assessed at pre-treatment, and social anxiety was assessed at pre-treatment, post-treatment, and every 3 months throughout a 12-month follow-up period.

A thorough QT study identified that escitalopram-induced QT prolongation was delayed. This study thus aimed to develop a population pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD) model to characterize the relationship between escitalopram concentrations and the delayed effect on QT prolongation.

The data of completed subjects who had placebo (n=36) and a single dose of 20 mg escitalopram (n=33) from a previous thorough QT study were used. Population PK/PD analysis was performed by nonlinear mixed-effects modeling. A escitalopram concentration-drug effect model was developed with estimated individual PK and baseline QT parameters. To explain the relationship between escitalopram concentrations and QT prolongation delay, an effect compartment model was utilized.

A two-compartment model with first-order absorption and lag time and first-order elimination adequately described the PK of escitalopram. The circadian rhythm of baseline QT interval was best explained by two harmonic cosine functions. A linear model properly characterized escitalopram-induced QT prolongation. The average estimated maximal QT prolongation was 5.4 ms (range 1.9-7.6 ms). The equilibrium half-life of delayed QT prolongation was 1.9 h. The drug effect of QTc change compared with that at baseline remained relatively constant from 1.3 to 3.5 ms over 24 h, and the maximum QTc change occurred with a 3-h delay after the time to the maximum plasma concentration.

We did not include genetic polymorphisms, such as CYP2C19, as potential covariates owing to limited information.

PO4 is a common drinking water corrosion inhibitor. This 7.5-year study examined the accumulation and release of As from an old cast iron pipe scale by changing initial As(V) (0, 75, or 180 µg/L as As) and initial PO4 (0 or 3 mg/L as PO4) levels in the simulated drinking water. The results showed that sites within the iron scale accumulated As with a large capacity and concentrated 27% of the total amount As in water into the scale during the 7.5-year study. When no PO4 was added, the As accumulation followed a linear regression model with an accumulation rate of 0.27/hr (R2 = 0.80, p less then 0.001), and higher initial As level of 180 µg/L (vs 75 µg/L) resulted in 2.3-3 times larger As accumulation rate at 0.25 mg/day (vs 0.084-0.11 mg/day). As much as 44 µg/L As was released back to water following the changes in the initial As and PO4 concentrations in water.
