MiR-142-3p as one key molecule in oncogenesis and inflammation plays crucial roles in hepatic fibrosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and other liver disease. However, there have no literatures to report its effects on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (HI/R) injury. In the present work, hypoxia reoxygenation (H/R) models on AML12 and HepG2 cells, and ischemia/reperfusion model in mice were established. The methods of real-time PCR, dual luciferase reporter, mimic, inhibitor, agomir, antagomir and siRNA transfection assays were used. The expression levels of miR-142-3p were decreased in model groups in vitro and in vivo compared with control group or Sham group, which directly targeted MARCKS to regulate its expression. Then, MARCKS activated p38/JNK signal, up-regulated NF-κB expression to accelerate inflammation, and inhibited PI3K/AKT signal to promote apoptosis. Moreover, miR-142-3p mimic in vitro and agomir in vivo lowered the expression levels of MARCKS, thereby alleviating apoptosis and inflammation to relieve HI/R injury. Furthermore, miR-142- 3p inhibitor in vitro and antagomir in vivo up-regulated the expression levels of MARCKS to aggravate HI/R damage via promoting inflammation and apoptosis. Consistently, MARCKS siRNA markedly inhibited HI/R injury by restraining apoptosis and inflamm- ation in mice. MiR-142-3p played a considerable part in adjusting HI/R injury by targeting MARCKS, and miR-142-3p/MARCKS should be a new therapeutic target for HI/R injury. BACKGROUND Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, the most common soft tissue malignancy in childhood, is treated with surgery and chemotherapy. Because of the young age of presentation, a discussion of future reproduction is appropriate and conservative management should be considered. We present a case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma that was successfully and conservatively managed with chemotherapy, allowing for future pregnancies. CASE A 17 year old nulliparous female with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma underwent six cycles of chemotherapy with Adriamycin, Dacarbazine, Cytoxan, and Vincristine, resulting in radiographic resolution of the disease. She was able to conceive without medical intervention and to have successful vaginal deliveries. CONCLUSION The standard of care for embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma is surgery and chemotherapy; however, conservative management should be considered when preservation of fertility is a goal. STUDY OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate the reproductive potential of patients with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome (MRKHS) who were candidates for uterus transplantation (UTx) before inclusion in the experimental trial and to summarize the existing experience with posttransplant embryo transfers in functionally successful cases. DESIGN and Setting A prospective study at a tertiary medical center. PARTICIPANTS Ten pre-UTx women with MRKHS and seven successful UTx cases. INTERVENTIONS AND MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Ovarian stimulations, frozen embryo collection, embryo transfers, and incidence of pregnancy in MRKHS women in the pre- and posttransplant periods. RESULTS The average number of ovarian stimulations to collect the required frozen embryos was 1.9 (1-3). On average, the number of aspirated oocytes was 16.4 (7-38), 12.6 (5-26) oocytes were fertilized, and 7.0 (1-18) embryos were cryopreserved per cycle. To date, the average number of embryo transfers per recipient was 4.9 (3-8), and the embryo transfer/pregnancy rate was 8.8% (3 of 34). Three pregnancies have been achieved to date, including a missed abortion in the 8th week, a birth in the 35th week, and an ongoing pregnancy in the 30th week. CONCLUSIONS Despite the small number of UTx cases, our data indicated that women with MRKHS showed a good response to ovarian stimulation and blastocyst formation. Although the procedures for fertilization, cryopreservation, and transfer of the embryos were standardized, the success rate per embryo transfer achieved in the study group has been low to date. BACKGROUND Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis, Adenitis (PFAPA) syndrome is a cyclic autoinflammatory disease generally diagnosed in childhood. There have been studies suggesting a relationship between menstruation and other autoinflammatory syndromes such as Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), but not PFAPA specifically. CASE This case describes a patient with a diagnosis of PFAPA who experienced complete resolution with tonsillectomy only to have recurrence of symptoms with onset of menstruation. She experienced symptom control with initiation of oral contraceptives. STUDY OBJECTIVE to determine the subtypes of the labial adhesion and arrange treatment options accordingly. DESIGN and Setting patients who were presented to our clinic with labial adhesion (LA) between July 2016 and February 2018 were divided into 4 groups. Location of the adhesion area, thickness of the adhesive tissue, and response to topical steroid (Betamethasone Valerate 0.1%ointment) therapy were identified as common features. PARTICIPANTS Seventy-five pre-pubertal girls. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES To determine the subtypes of the labial adhesion and evaluate the treatment response of patients in each subtype. RESULTS LA was divided into 4 subtypes according to their common characteristics. In type I, two weeks of topical steroid treatment resulted in complete recovery (100%). In type II, 80% of the patients had complete response to topical steroid treatment for an average of 3 weeks. Type III and IV patients were completely unresponsive to topical steroid treatment. CONCLUSION Classification of labial adhesion patients into subtypes and determination of treatment based on this classification make a major contribution in planning the treatment of patients, not by trial-and-error, but using a predetermined strategy. BACKGROUND The Chilean legislation forbids induced abortion, so little is known of the young women who have abortions and what determinants are associated with this practice. STUDY OBJECTIVE This study examined the association between adolescents and young women who have had induced abortions and socioeconomic status and compared them with counterparts who reported not having a history of abortion. METHODS Drawing on the 2015 Chilean National Youth Survey, a population-based sample of general community youth aged 15 to 29 years, we conducted a study on 2439 sexually active females. Bivariate and multiple logistic regression was used to examine the relationship between participants who had induced abortions and participants that had not by socioeconomic status (low, middle, high), while controlling for demographic, sexual behavior and cultural covariates. this website RESULTS 5.15% (n=129) of participants declared having induced an abortion in the past. Participants with high socioeconomic status had 4.89 (95%CI 1.44- 16.51) higher odds of induced abortion compared with participants with low socioeconomic status.
