The network characteristics will be mapped for approximately 150 researchers in working in Nepal. SNA characteristics in the network (individual density, homophily, and centrality) will be compared with academic productivity (total peer reviewed publications, h-index), including mediation effects via self-efficacy and outcome expectations. Ultimately, this study will generate information to design more evidence-based strategies for capacity building of a gender-equitable research workforce in global mental health. This meta-narrative review on mental health early intervention support for LGBTQ+ youth aimed to develop a theoretical framework to explain effective mental health support. Using the RAMESES standards for meta-narrative reviews, we identified studies from database searches and citation-tracking. Data extraction and synthesis was conducted through conceptual coding in Atlas.ti. in two stages 1) conceptual mapping of the meta-narratives; 2) comparing the key concepts across the meta-narratives to produce a theoretical framework. In total, 2951 titles and abstracts were screened and 200 full papers reviewed. 88 studies were included in the final review. Stage 1 synthesis identified three meta-narratives - psychological, psycho-social, and social/youth work. Stage 2 synthesis resulted in a non-pathological theoretical framework for mental health support that acknowledged the intersectional aspects of LGBTQ+ youth lives, and placed youth at the centre of their own mental health care. The study of LGBTQ+ youth mental health has largely occurred independently across a range of disciplines such as psychology, sociology, public health, social work and youth studies. The interdisciplinary theoretical framework produced indicates that effective early intervention mental health support for LGBTQ+ youth must prioritise addressing normative environments that marginalises youth, LGBTQ+ identities and mental health problems.
Globally female sex workers (FSWs) are vulnerable to violence from intimate partners, police and clients due to stigma and criminalisation. In this paper we describe South African FSWs' exposure to violence and factors associated with having been raped in the past year.

We conducted a multi-stage, community-centric, cross-sectional survey of 3005 FSWs linked to sex worker programmes in 12 sites across all nine provinces that had a SW programme. Adult women who sold sex in the preceding six months were recruited for interviews via sex worker networks. Survey tools were developed in consultation with peer educators and FSWs.

In the past year, 70.4% of FSWs experienced physical violence and 57.9% were raped by policemen (14.0%), clients (48.3%), other men (30.2%) and/or and intimate partner (31.9%). Sexual IPV was associated with food insecurity, entering sex work as a child, childhood trauma exposure, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), drinking alcohol to cope with sex work, working more days, partnernequality, sex work stigma, criminalisation, and repeated victimisation, the key drivers are structural factors, childhood and other trauma exposure, mental ill-health, circumstances of sex work and, for SIPV, partner characteristics. Mostly these are amenable to intervention, with legislative change being foundational for ending abuse by policemen, enhancing safety of indoor venues and providing greater economic options for women.
Studies suggest that individual student-reported connection to school is associated with better mental health. However, there is less evidence for associations between schools' overall school climate and the mental health of their students. This may reflect limitations in which mental health outcomes have been examined. We conducted a large longitudinal study in schools, hypothesising that we would find associations at both the student and school levels between student-reported positive school climate, and reduced student conduct and emotional problems and improved mental wellbeing.

We tracked students in 20 English secondary schools from near the end of the first year of secondary school (age 11/12) over 3 years using reliable measures of school climate and mental health.

We found associations between student-level reports of positive school climate at baseline, and reduced conduct and emotional problems and better mental wellbeing at 3-year follow-up adjusting for various potential confounders. We also found some evidence of adjusted associations between baseline school-level measures of overall positive climate and better student mental health at follow-up. However, these student- and school-level associations reduced considerably when also adjusting for baseline mental health.

Our findings suggest that there are associations between school climate and student mental health at both the student and school level but these associations are complex and not necessarily causal.

Employing the panel vector autoregression (VAR) estimation technique, we found evidence of a significant positive effect of crude oil price on economic growth both in the short run and long run. However, after splitting the panel into net oil exporters and importers, the results for net oil importers remain consistent with those obtained for the whole panel, unlike those for net oil exporters revealing a positive and negative effect of crude oil price on economic growth in the short-run and long-run periods, respectively. This confirms the resource curse hypothesis for oil-exporting countries under consideration. Moreover, we found evidence of bidirectional causality between crude oil price and real GDP. Consequently, to boost economic growth in Sub-Saharan Africa, various governments should encourage economic diversification, increase investments in human capital in view of enhancing the development of the oil sector by ensuring an efficient management of oil revenues, as well as intensifying the fight against corruption.

Differential expression analysis without accounting for cell type composition cannot separate the changes due to cell type composition or cell type-specific expression. We propose a computational framework to address these limitations Cell Type Aware analysis of RNA-seq (CARseq). CARseq employs a negative binomial distribution that appropriately models the count data from RNA-seq experiments. Simulation studies show that CARseq has substantially higher power than a linear model-based approach and it also provides more accurate estimate of the rankings of differentially expressed genes. We have applied CARseq to compare gene expression of schizophrenia/autism subjects versus controls, and identified the cell types underlying the difference and similarities of these two neuron-developmental diseases. Our results are consistent with the results from differential expression analysis using single cell RNA-seq data.Secreted extracellular vesicles (EVs) influence the tumor microenvironment and promote distal metastasis. Here, we analyzed the involvement of melanoma-secreted EVs in lymph node pre-metastatic niche formation in murine models. We found that small EVs (sEVs) derived from metastatic melanoma cell lines were enriched in nerve growth factor receptor (NGFR, p75NTR), spread through the lymphatic system and were taken up by lymphatic endothelial cells, reinforcing lymph node metastasis. Remarkably, sEVs enhanced lymphangiogenesis and tumor cell adhesion by inducing ERK kinase, nuclear factor (NF)-κB activation and intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1 expression in lymphatic endothelial cells. Importantly, ablation or inhibition of NGFR in sEVs reversed the lymphangiogenic phenotype, decreased lymph node metastasis and extended survival in pre-clinical models. Furthermore, NGFR expression was augmented in human lymph node metastases relative to that in matched primary tumors, and the frequency of NGFR+ metastatic melanoma cells in lymph nodes correlated with patient survival. In summary, we found that NGFR is secreted in melanoma-derived sEVs, reinforcing lymph node pre-metastatic niche formation and metastasis.Multispectral observations from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are currently used for precision agriculture and crop phenotyping applications to monitor a series of traits allowing the characterization of the vegetation status. However, the limited autonomy of UAVs makes the completion of flights difficult when sampling large areas. Increasing the throughput of data acquisition while not degrading the ground sample distance (GSD) is, therefore, a critical issue to be solved. We propose here a new image acquisition configuration based on the combination of two focal length (f) optics an optics with f = 4.2 mm is added to the standard f = 8 mm (SS single swath) of the multispectral camera (DS double swath, double of the standard one). Two flights were completed consecutively in 2018 over a maize field using the AIRPHEN multispectral camera at 52 m altitude. The DS flight plan was designed to get 80% overlap with the 4.2 mm optics, while the SS one was designed to get 80% overlap with the 8 mm optics. As a result, the time required to cover the same area is halved for the DS as compared to the SS. click here The georeferencing accuracy was improved for the DS configuration, particularly for the Z dimension due to the larger view angles available with the small focal length optics. Application to plant height estimates demonstrates that the DS configuration provides similar results as the SS one. However, for both the DS and SS configurations, degrading the quality level used to generate the 3D point cloud significantly decreases the plant height estimates. To develop new crop varieties and monitor plant growth, health, and traits, automated analysis of aerial crop images is an attractive alternative to time-consuming manual inspection. To perform per-microplot phenotypic analysis, localizing and detecting individual microplots in an orthomosaic image of a field are major steps. Our algorithm uses an automatic initialization of the known field layout over the orthomosaic images in roughly the right position. Since the orthomosaic images are stitched from a large number of smaller images, there can be distortion causing microplot rows not to be entirely straight and the automatic initialization to not correctly position every microplot. To overcome this, we have developed a three-level hierarchical optimization method. First, the initial bounding box position is optimized using an objective function that maximizes the level of vegetation inside the area. Then, columns of microplots are repositioned, constrained by their expected spacing. Finally, the position of microplots is adjusted individually using an objective function that simultaneously maximizes the area of the microplot overlapping vegetation, minimizes spacing variance between microplots, and maximizes each microplot's alignment relative to other microplots in the same row and column.
