Epiretinal membranes (ERM) are a disorder leading to progressive vision loss and metamorphopsia. The ERM is treated through a pars-plana vitrectomy (PPV) with membrane peeling. The aim of this study was to define the success of intraoperative optical coherence tomography (
OCT) in ERM surgery to standard surgical visualization techniques and enhance our current approach to clinical practice.

This study included 56 eyes of 54 patients who underwent surgical intervention for management of idiopathic ERM. Patients were recruited between February 2018 and March 2020 at "Francesco Miulli" Hospital ophthalmology department in Acquaviva delle Fonti, Bari, Italy.

in 28 eyes, ERM peeling was performed without staining and without
OCT; 25% of these eyes peeling ERM (n   =   7) was performed easily, while 75% of eyes peeling ERM (n   =   21) was not possible without staining and was necessary staining with Brillant Blu G.In 28 eyes ERM peeling were performed with
OCT; in 92.5% of these eyes (n   =   26) ERM peeling was easily done without staining, while in 7.5% of this group of eyes (n   =   2) ERM peeling was not possible without staining.

Our study shows how iOCT has successfully assisted the surgeon to complete peeling in most of the cases treated without the use of a chromovitrectomy dye; in flat ERM was more difficult and
OCT failed to visualize the inner limiting membrane (ILM).

This paper reviews literature on the effects of stocking density on behaviour, health, and production in intensively housed fattening turkeys.2. Worldwide, there are various regulations and recommendations on the maximum stocking density. While stocking density can be determined based on the space covered by the body, a more appropriate method considers space requirements for natural behaviour. Turkeys are less likely disturbed at low stocking density as seen by increased sitting, lying, and preening behaviours compared to animals housed at high stocking density. Furthermore, lower stocking density together with smaller group size, species-appropriate light conditions and suitable structuring of barn housing are repeatedly mentioned as good strategies to prevent injurious pecking.3. Increased stocking density - in terms of weight and animal number per floor area - is related to increased litter moisture, which can have negative impact on animal health. High stocking density can also lead to poor body mass gain and increased mortality, which are not only indicators of impaired welfare but also of economic interest.4. Based on the available scientific literature and economic aspects with regard to the above criteria, a maximum stocking density for turkeys appears to be 36-a maximum of 40 kg live weight per m2 of usable floor space. However, the number of animals per square space should also be limited to avoid increased litter moisture and reduced health.Monotonous and repetitive tasks cause vigilance, or sustained attention decrement, which possibly leads to irreparable accident consequences in the aerospace and nuclear industry. Buffering the decrement of vigilance in visual search tasks is essential for cognitive enhancement and ergonomic research. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) applied to the left frontal eye field (FEF) to improve the performance of the sustained visual search. Twenty-seven healthy participants received anodal and sham tDCS of 2 mA for 28.8 min and completed a visual search task lasting for approximately 40 min without any break. For the online effect, results showed that the d' hit rate and accuracy under anodal tDCS were significantly higher than those under sham conditions during 0-19.2 min time intervals. For the after-effect, compared with sham, anodal tDCS caused significantly higher d' in the 10 min after completing the tDCS. Our findings suggest that anodal tDCS over the left FEF could effectively mitigate the decline of visual vigilance performance by buffering cognitive resource depletion.Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a part of the metabolic syndrome and is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. The aim of this study was to determine whether unexplained elevated ALT in early pregnancy has any effect in the prediction of large for gestational age (LGA) infants. In this study, the relationship between birth weights of LGA babies and babies with normal weight for gestational age (AGA) and ALT values measured in early pregnancy was evaluated. While a positive, moderately strong, statistically significant correlation was found between infant birth weight and ALT levels in LGA babies this correlation was continued when GDM was not detected and ALT levels were below 36 U/L. Foetal macrosomia, which can develop in advanced gestational weeks, can be predicted with this cheap, easy and simple method that can be checked in the first trimester and pregnancy follow-up can be shaped accordingly.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? It is suggested that asymptomatic high ALT values measured in the first trimester can predict a macrosomic foetus. What do the results of this study add? Asymptomatic elevated ALT values measured in the first trimester can predict a macrosomic foetus. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Macrosomic foetus development can be predicted with abnormal results obtained with this simple, cheap and easy measurement method measured in the first trimester and pregnancy follow-up can be managed accordingly.Purpose To evaluate dynamic gallium 68 (68Ga) tetraazacyclododecane tetraacetic acid octreotate (DOTATATE) brain PET/MRI as an adjunct modality in meningioma, enabling multiparametric standardized uptake value (SUV) and Patlak net binding rate constant (Ki) imaging, and to optimize static acquisition period. Materials and Methods In this prospective study (ClinicalTrials.gov no. NCT04081701, DOMINO-START), 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/MRI-derived time-activity curves (TACs) were measured in 84 volumes of interest in 19 participants (mean age, 63 years; range, 36-89 years; 13 women; 2019-2021) with meningiomas. Region- and voxel-specific Ki were determined using Patlak analysis with a validated population-based reference tissue TAC model built from an independent data set of nine participants. Mean and maximum absolute and relative-to-superior-sagittal-sinus SUVs were extracted from the entire 50 minutes (SUV50) and last 10 minutes (SUV10) of acquisition. SUV versus Ki Spearman correlation, SUV and Ki meningioma versus ptlak ClinicalTrials.gov registration no. NCT04081701 © RSNA, 2022.We describe the management of a 2 month-old male (BSA 0.27 m2) with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (CCTGA), left and right ventricular outflow tract obstruction, incomplete atrioventricular (AV) canal defect, Ebsteinoid left AV valve, and multiple VSDs. In short, the patient presented with respiratory failure, metabolic acidosis with worsening AV valve regurgitation, and acute decompensation from pulmonary overcirculation. We performed a complex double switch operation described below. Despite the unique anatomical complexities, the patient's successful course demonstrates the importance of multidisciplinary discourse, preoperative imaging and planning, and intraoperative decision making from patient selection to anatomic repair.Donor to host transmission of infectious agents is a well-recognized entity, more commonly related to Endothelial Keratoplasty (EK) than to Penetrating Keratoplasty (PK), that involves complications ranging from interface keratitis to endophthalmitis. A systematic review of the literature was conducted to identify the published articles until December 2020 reporting cases of endophthalmitis secondary to corneal graft contamination in posterior lamellar keratoplasties (DSAEK and DMEK) along with donor characteristics, microbiological profile, treatment and outcomes. Each identified article was assessed to meet donor to host infection criteria, defined as a post-procedural infection in which the same microbiological agent was identified in both the donor corneoscleral rim or preservation medium and receptor ocular tissue. From 23 research articles, eight reports of endophthalmitis in nine patients following DSAEK or DMEK secondary to donor to host infection fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The majority were male and the median age was 72.0 (45.0-81.0) years old. Indications of surgery were primarily pseudophakic bullous keratopathy and Fuchs dystrophy. A fungal pathogen was identified in eight of nine patients. All the cases underwent surgical management with lenticule removal or endothelial plaque aspiration. The final corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) in all cases was 20/200 or better. Endophthalmitis after an EK procedure is a rare complication whose outcome depends on the aggressive and precocious treatment. Identification of early signs of interface keratitis and lenticule removal seems mandatory in patients undergoing DSAEK or DMEK to prevent further involvement of the globe.Occupational asbestos exposure was prevalent in Taiwan, but asbestos-related diseases (ARDs) have rarely been recognized. MKI-1 We conducted in-depth face-to-face interviews with 16 patients with ARDs. All of them had worked in industries known for high asbestos exposure. However, only three patients had filed workers' compensation (WC) claims, and of them, only two patients were approved. Reasons for the low compensation rate of ARDs could be divided into institutional barriers related to the flaws of the WC system and non-institutional barriers related to the knowledge status, causal interpretation, and social situations of individual workers. The Labor Occupational Accident Insurance and Protection Act passed in April 2021 has responded to the under-compensation of occupational diseases. However, the new act's effects toward improving the recognition of ARDs remain questionable. Our findings indicated that additional efforts are needed to remove non-institutional barriers hindering workers' ability to ensure their compensation rights.Bisexual women experience worse mental health outcomes than lesbian and heterosexual women, which may be explained by greater rates of sexual violence among bisexual women. The current comprehensive literature review aimed to synthesize research on mental health and substance use outcomes related to lifetime sexual violence among bisexual women. A comprehensive literature search was conducted within the PsycINFO and Medline databases (final search conducted in August, 2021). Inclusion criteria required articles to examine a mental health or substance use correlate/outcome of lifetime sexual victimization experiences among bisexual women. Fifteen studies met inclusion criteria and were reviewed. Results indicate that there are significant gaps in this literature, including limited research on psychological distress outcomes. Most notably, there is a limited focus on the experiences of bisexual women specifically and the role of bisexual minority stress. Findings indicate that lifetime sexual victimization experiences are linked with increased posttraumatic stress, depression, and alcohol (and other substance) use and consequences.
