This article reports the results of a survey to identify competencies for health communication specialists with master's degrees. To prepare the survey, a working group drafted a competency list through reviewing the literature and soliciting feedback from attendees at a professional society meeting, resulting in lists of items reflecting 18 knowledge domains, 11 skill sets, and 14 application bundles labeled "abilities." The survey asked participants to rate the 43 items in terms of their importance and provide their opinions about the preparation of health communication specialists. The survey was disseminated online through professional associations and completed by 142 participants (74 educators and 68 practitioners). Nearly all of the 43 items were rated "somewhat important" or higher. The lists were reduced to 10 knowledge domains, three skill sets, and five abilities through factor analyses. Replication of the findings and triangulation with studies employing different research methods will help advance this line of inquiry.
Low medication adherence is a significant challenge in all medical fields and particularly in mental health treatment, where a lack of insight into one's own disease can repress the ability to adhere. In recent years, the increase in migration combined with a high prevalence of mental illnesses among migrants and the possible consequences of nonadherence, point towards the need for a focus on adherence with psychotropic drugs among migrants.

To review current literature, exploring the potential impact of being a migrant from a non-Western country living in a Western country on the level of adherence to psychotropic medication and subsequently to discuss these findings.

A systematic review of studies investigating adherence among non-western migrants was conducted. The literature search was conducted using PubMed and Embase databases in October 2020.

Seven observational studies were included, all ranging from moderate to high-quality. Recently, 3D printers have been used for the production of microneedle patches. After giving a brief overview of 3DP technology, this article includes the materials necessary for the preparation of microneedles and microneedle patches specifically for penetration enhancement, preparation methods, quality parameters, and their application to TDD. To determine the mechanism of a bovine lactoferricin-lactoferrampin (LFCA)-encoding Lactobacillus reuteri CO21 (LR-LFCA) to enhance the intestinal mucosal immunity, we used a newborn piglet intestine model to study the intestinal response to ETEC. Pigs were chosen due to the anatomical similarity between the porcine and the human intestine.4-day-old piglets were orally administered with LR-LFCA, LR-con (L. reuteri CO21 transformed with pPG612 plasmid) or phosphate buffered saline (PBS) for three consecutive days, within 21 days after these treatments, we found that LR-LFCA can colonize the intestines of piglets, improve the growth performance, enhance immune response and is beneficial for intestinal health of piglets by improving intestinal barrier function and modulating the composition of gut microbiota. Twenty-one days after, piglets were infected with ETEC K88 for 5 days, we found that oral administration of LR-LFCA to neonatal piglets attenuated ETEC-induced the weight loss of piglets and diarrhea incidence. LR-LFCA decreased the production of inflammatory factors and oxidative stress in intestinal mucosa of ETEC-infected piglets. Additionally, LR-LFCA increased the expression of tight junction proteins in the ileum of ETEC-infected piglets. Using LPS-induced porcine intestinal epithelial cells (IPEC-J2) in vitro, we demonstrated that LR-LFCA-mediated increases in the tight junction proteins might depend on the MLCK pathway; LR-LFCA might increase the anti-inflammatory ability by inhibiting the NF-κB pathway. We also found that LR-LFCA may enhance the antioxidant capacity of piglets by activating the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway. This study demonstrates that LR-LFCA is effective at maintaining intestinal epithelial integrity and host homeostasis as well as at repairing intestinal damage after ETEC infection and is thus a promising alternative therapeutic method for intestinal inflammation.
To analyse the incidence and characteristics of ocular adnexal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (OAML) with immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4)-related ophthalmic disease (IgG4-ROD), and to compare with IgG4-negative OAML.

We enrolled 130 patients with pathology-confirmed OAML at a single tertiary medical centre. Patients were divided into IgG4-positive and IgG4-negative groups based on the pathologic criteria for IgG4-ROD. The data were reviewed and compared between the groups.

For PCB plasma levels, an exceedance of the biological reference value (BAR) and further factors, such as (1) professional qualification, (2) later inclusion, (3) type of participant and (4) occupational-related disease notification, significant differences in the participation frequency were observed in the univariate analysis. Only age and joined study participation remained significant in the multivariate logistic regression. Physical activity (PA) is important in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) management. Fitness wearables are becoming increasingly popular as measurement tools of PA; however, the accuracy of these devices should first be evaluated.

The purpose of this study was to assess the accuracy of the ActivPAL and Fitbit Charge 2 as a measure of step count in Cystic Fibrosis.

Twenty-one participants were recruited from an adult CF Center in Ireland for a single session of testing. Participants walked for 5 min at five pre-determined speeds in a controlled testing environment (2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4miles per hour on a treadmill) and at three self-selected speeds in a corridor (slow, medium, and fast). They concurrently wore an accelerometer (ActivPAL) and fitness wearable (Fitbit Charge 2), and both were compared to visual observations. Step count is the outcome being assessed.

The ActivPAL under-estimated step count by 0.63% across treadmill speeds and 1.1% across self-selected walking speeds. The Fitbit Charge 2 underestimated the step count by 2.97% across treadmill speeds and by 6.3% across self-selected walking speeds. Very strong correlations were found between the ActivPAL and visual observations (r 0.93 to 0.99), while the Fitbit Charge 2ranged from weak to very strong correlations when compared to visual observations (r 0.34 to 0.84).

The ActivPAL and Fitbit Charge 2 demonstrated acceptable validity for step count measurement in CF. These devices can be used for tracking PA during interventions in people with CF.

A systematic search on four electronic databases (Pubmed, WOS, Medline and Scopus) was conducted on 26 May 2021. Twelve studies met the inclusion criteria and were included. Standardised mean difference with 95% confidence intervals (CI) between footwear with increased LBS vs. non-increased LBS conditions and effect sizes were calculated. To assess the potential effects of moderator variables (type and length plate, increased LBS, shoe mass and running speed) on the main outcome variable (i.e. RE), subgroup analyses were performed. Increased LBS improved RE (SMD = -0.43 [95% CI -0.58, -0.28], Z = 5.60, p  less then  0.001) compared to non-increased LBS. Significant increases of stride length (SMD = 0.29 [95% CI 0.10, 0.49], Z = 2.93, p = 0.003) and contact time (SMD = 0.17 [95% CI 0.03, 0.31], Z = 2.32, p = 0.02) were found when LBS was increased. RE improved to a greater degree at higher running speeds with footwear with increased LBS.
