AmAT19, a great acetyltransferase coming from Astragalus membranaceus, catalyses certain 6α-OH acetylation regarding tetracyclic triterpenes as well as products and steroids.
The diacetate complexes trans-[Ru(κ1-OAc)2(PPh3)2(NN)] (NN = ethylenediamine (en) (1), 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine (ampy) (2), 2-(aminomethyl)pyrimidine (ampyrim) (3)) have been isolated in 76-88% yield by reaction of [Ru(κ2-OAc)2(PPh3)2] with the corresponding nitrogen ligands. The ampy-type derivatives 2 and 3 undergo isomerization to the thermodynamically most stable cationic complexes [Ru(κ1-OAc)(PPh3)2(NN)]OAc (2a and 3a) and cis-[Ru(κ1-OAc)2(PPh3)2(NN)] (2b and 3b) in methanol at RT. The trans-[Ru(κ1-OAc)2(P2)2] (P2 = dppm (4), dppe (5)) compounds have been synthesized from [Ru(κ2-OAc)2(PPh3)2] by reaction with the suitable diphosphine in toluene at 95 °C. The complex cis-[Ru(κ1-OAc)2(dppm)(ampy)](6) has been obtained from [Ru(κ2-OAc)2(PPh3)2] and dppm in toluene at reflux and reaction with ampy. The derivatives trans-[Ru(κ1-OAc)2P2(NN)] (7-16; NN = en, ampy, ampyrim, 8-aminoquinoline; P2 = dppp, dppb, dppf, (R)-BINAP) can be easily synthesized from [Ru(κ2-OAc)2(PPh3)2] with a diphosphine and treatment withogenation with 2-propanol and hydrogenation with H2 of carbonyl compounds at S/C values of up to 10000 and with TOF values of up to 160000 h-1.The divalent iron complexes trans-[FeBr2(BINC)2], [Cp*FeCl(BINC)] (Cp* = Me5C5), and [FeBr2(CNAr3NC)2] with the chelating bis(isonitrile) ligands BINC (bis(2-isocyanophenyl)phenylphosphonate) and CNAr3NC (2,2″-diisocyano-3,5,3″,5"tetramethyl-1,1'3',1″-terphenyl) have been prepared and characterized. Their subsequent reduction yields the di- and trinuclear compounds [Fe3(BINC)6], [Cp*Fe(BINC)]2, [Fe(CNAr3NC)2]2, and [K(Et2O)]2[Fe(CNAr3NC)2]2. The molecular structures of all new species were determined by X-ray crystallography and compared to those of related iron carbonyl complexes, demonstrating that the bidentate isonitrile ligands are capable surrogates for two CO ligands with only minimal distortion of the tetrahedral or octahedral geometry of the parent complexes. The complexes were further characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy, and the electrochemical properties of selected compounds were analyzed by UV-vis-NIR spectroelectrochemistry.Gold π-complexes have been studied largely in the past 2 decades because of their role in gold-catalyzed reactions. We report an experimental and theoretical investigation of the interaction between a wide range of unsaturated hydrocarbons (alkanes, alkynes, alkadienes, and allenes) and triphenylphosphine-gold(I), triphenylphosphine-silver(I), and acetonitrile-silver(I) cations. The bond dissociation energies of these complexes were determined by mass spectrometry collision-induced dissociations and their structures were studied by density functional theory calculations and infrared photodissociation spectroscopy. The results show that with the same phosphine ligand, gold binds stronger to the π-ligands than silver and thereby activates the unsaturated bond more effectively. Ligand exchange of phosphine by acetonitrile at the silver complexes increases the binding energy as well as the activation of the π-ligands. Selleckchem WM-8014 We also show that the substitution of an unsaturated bond is more important than the bond type.Has lockdown been eased too soon in the UK considering the surge in cases of a coronavirus variant from India? Graham Lawton reports.
COVID-19 acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) shares the common histological hallmarks with other forms of ARDS. However, the chronology of the histological lesions has not been well established.

To describe the chronological histopathological alterations in the lungs of patients with COVID-19 related ARDS.

A prospective cohort study was carried out.

Intensive Care Unit of a tertiary hospital.

The first 22 consecutive COVID-19 deaths.

Lung biopsies and histopathological analyses were performed in deceased patients with COVID-19 related ARDS. Clinical data and patient course were evaluated.

The median patient age was 66 [63-74] years; 73% were males. The median duration of mechanical ventilation was 17 [8-24] days. COVID-19 induced pulmonary injury was characterized by an exudative phase in the first week of the disease, followed by a proliferative/organizing phase in the second and third weeks, and finally an end-stage fibrosis phase after the third week. Viral RNA and proteins were detected in pneumocytes and macrophages in a very early stage of the disease, and were no longer detected after the second week.

Limited sample size.

The chronological evolution of COVID-19 lung histopathological lesions seems to be similar to that seen in other forms of ARDS. In particular, lung lesions consistent with potentially corticosteroid-sensitive lesions are seen.

This paper's main contribution to the literature concerns the theoretical foundation of MMT. A simple macroeconomic model shows that MMT is indistinguishable from the Keynesian cross model, as well as a neoclassical macroeconomic model, even when taking account of money in the sense of MMT. This result is in stark contrast to the claims of MMT proponents. Accordingly, it is asserted that MMT is a fundamentally new theory of money and monetary economics. However, MMT is admittedly based on the functional finance concept of the 1940s and money is modelled as an accounting identity. In addition, the fundamental connection between government expenditures for goods and services and the steady state equilibrium value of the national income, the so-called fiscal stance, is a well-known result that is not only consistent with MMT. The interpretation of the fiscal stance, in combination with the accounting identity for money, is a major issue because an equilibrium condition should have a certain causal direction of effects. Based on this reading of the equilibrium condition, policy recommendations encompass the fiscal dominance of monetary policy via monetization of public debt, a job guarantee by the state, along with a so-called Green New Deal. According to the results of this paper, these policy recommendations cannot be justified with MMT.

The chemical structure of the formed SB complexes is confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy. Among the three complexes, para-phenylenediamine (p-SB), possessing a stable resonance structure with the lowest steric repulsion, was obtained in the highest yield of 87%. Hence, the present work focused on reducing the brittle behavior and improving the antimicrobial activity of PLA by reacting it with p-SB. FT-IR investigation revealed the existence of an intermolecular hydrogen bonding between PLA and SB, which led to an increased toughness in the PLAp-SB complex. This is further confirmed through SEM analysis. The tensile and contact angle measurements determined an improvement in mechanical properties and hydrophobic nature of the PLAp-SB film. DSC results demonstrated an increase in flexibility, which indicated a 10C reduction in glass transition temperature (T g) of PLAp-SB films. The antimicrobial activity of the PLAp-SB films had a maximum of 15mm zone of inhibition, which was found to be more effective than the neat PLA film. PLAp-SB coating on Kraft paper showed improved mechanical and barrier properties than neat PLA coatings and could be tried as a possible replacement for conventional synthetic packaging materials.Artificial intelligence (AI) is (re)shaping strategy, activities, interactions, and relationships in business and specifically in marketing. The drawback of the substantial opportunities AI systems and applications (will) provide in marketing are ethical controversies. Building on the literature on AI ethics, the authors systematically scrutinize the ethical challenges of deploying AI in marketing from a multi-stakeholder perspective. By revealing interdependencies and tensions between ethical principles, the authors shed light on the applicability of a purely principled, deontological approach to AI ethics in marketing. To reconcile some of these tensions and account for the AI-for-social-good perspective, the authors make suggestions of how AI in marketing can be leveraged to promote societal and environmental well-being.Stakeholder theory has largely been anthropocentric in its focus on human actors and interests, failing to recognise the impact of nonhumans in business and organisations. This leads to an incomplete understanding of organisational contexts that include key relationships with nonhuman animals. In addition, the limited scholarly attention paid to nonhumans as stakeholders has mostly been conceptual to date. Therefore, we develop a stakeholder theory with animals illustrated through two ethnographic case studies an animal shelter and Nordic husky businesses. We focus our feminist reading of Driscoll and Starik's (J Bus Ethics 4955-73, 2004) stakeholder attributes for nonhumans and extend this to include affective salience built on embodied affectivity and knowledge, memories, action and care. Findings reveal that nonhuman animals are important actors in practice, affecting organisational operations through human-animal care relationships. In addition to confirming animals are stakeholders, we further contribute to stakeholder theory by offering ways to better listen to nontraditional actors. To examine the mental health experiences of international graduate students of Color (IGSC) as they navigate through a multitude of systemic barriers, the researchers interviewed eight IGSC in the U.S. Adopting a critical race perspective, the researchers sought to address a persistent gap in the counseling literature, and explore how systemic influences of racism, xenophobia, and discriminatory policies impacted the mental health of IGSC. Three distinct themes emerged from phenomenological analysis of the participants' interviews in the current study cross-cultural challenges, surviving racism and anti-immigrant sentiment, and mental health and wellness. Implications for how professional counselors can support IGSC as they navigate through multiple challenges are emphasized. The main factors influencing feeding competition among members of diurnal primate groups are the distribution, availability, and quality of food resources. Socioecological models predict that temporal availability of preferred resources, such as fruit, can influence intragroup feeding competition, which is expected to affect rates of agonism and intragroup spatial patterns. We evaluated the effects of temporal variation in fruit availability on the degree of frugivory (i.e., the proportion of time spent feeding on fruit in relation to total food consumption) and the effects of fruit availability and degree of frugivory on rates of agonistic interactions, and intragroup proximity in two wild groups of gray woolly monkeys (Lagothrix lagotricha cana) in southwestern Brazilian Amazonia. We recorded 227 agonistic interactions via the all occurrences method and 3549 records of spacing via scan sampling during an 8-mo field study from March to October 2017. We found that fruit availability showed a positive relationship with the woolly monkeys' degree of frugivory, which in turn showed a positive relationship with the rates of agonism.
