However, the related functions of stromal and immune components (TME-associated genes) in TME remain largely unclear. From the TCGA dataset, we downloaded the clinical data of 375 GC cases and then estimated the percentage of tumor-infiltrating immunocytes (TICs) and the levels of immune and stromal constituents by the use of CIBERSORT and ESTIMATE tolls. Univariate assays were applied to study the differentially expressed genes. The associations between the clinical information of GC patients and the expressions of the specific genes were analyzed based on the TCGA datasets. The effect of Plexin domain containing 2 (PLXDC2) expression on TICs was conducted. We observed that PLXDC2 expression was distinctly upregulated in GC specimens compared with nontumor gastric specimens. Its upregulation was associated with advanced clinical stages and predicted a shorter overall survival of GC patients. The genes in the group of higher expressing PLXDC2 were primarily enriched in immunity-associated events. By the use of CIBERSORT, we observed that PLXDC2 expressions were related to the proportion of dendritic cells resting, T cell CD4 memory resting, eosinophils, mastocyte resting, mononuclear cells, plasma cells, T cell follicle helper, macrophage M2, and dendritic cells activated. Overall, our discoveries revealed that the expression of PLXDC2 was remarkable in GC, might be a possible biomarker for GC, and provided novel contents regarding immune infiltrates, offering novel insight for treatments of GC.
There is evidence that the immune system plays a key critical role in the pathogenesis of myocardial infarction (MI). However, the exact mechanisms associated with immunity have not been systematically uncovered.

This study used the weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) and the CIBERSORT algorithm to analyze the MI expression data from the Gene Expression Omnibus database and then identify the module associated with immune cell infiltration. In addition, we built the coexpression network and protein-protein interactions network analysis to identify the hub genes. Furthermore, the relationship between hub genes and NK cell resting was validated by using another dataset GSE123342. Finally, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses were used to assess the diagnostic value of verified hub genes.

Monocytes and neutrophils were markedly increased, and T cell CD8, T cell CD4 naive, T cell CD4 memory resting, and NK cell resting were significantly decreased in MI groups compared with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) groups. The WGCNA results showed that the pink model had the highest correlation with the NK cell resting infiltration level. We identified 11 hub genes whose expression correlated to the NK cell resting infiltration level, among which, 7 hub genes (NKG7, TBX21, PRF1, CD247, KLRD1, FASLG, and EOMES) were successfully validated in GSE123342. And these 7 genes had diagnostic value to distinguish MI and stable CAD.

Recent research suggested that the IONM is conducive as a prognostic tool towards the patient's functional outcome. This paper summarizes the researches of IONM being adopted as a prognostic tool. NO2 levels showed a significant decrease, since they were mainly associated with the decrease in economic growth and transport restrictions that led to a change in energy consumption and a reduction in emissions. While this article shares some of the concerns that have been raised, it argues that banning face-coverings in public is morally justified under certain conditions with the exception of facemasks that are necessary for the containment of infectious diseases, such as COVID-19. The reason for this is that those who publicly cover their face make it very difficult for other members of society to socially interact with them, especially for those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, which is problematic in an age where many people are chronically lonely or at risk of becoming chronically lonely. As such, this article can be understood as a more elaborate, and arguably more sophisticated, defence of the justification that France offered for its face-covering ban before the European Court of Human Rights, namely that covering one's face undermines the conditions for 'living together'.The novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19, has rapidly spread worldwide. Developing methods to identify the therapeutic activity of drugs based on phenotypic data can improve the efficiency of drug development. Here, a state-of-the-art machine-learning method was used to identify drug mechanism of actions (MoAs) based on the cell image features of 1105 drugs in the LINCS database. As the multi-dimensional features of cell images are affected by non-experimental factors, the characteristics of similar drugs vary considerably, and it is difficult to effectively identify the MoA of drugs as there is substantial noise. By applying the supervised information theoretic metric-learning (ITML) algorithm, a linear transformation made drugs with the same MoA aggregate. By clustering drugs to communities and performing enrichment analysis, we found that transferred image features were more conducive to the recognition of drug MoAs. Image features analysis showed that different features play important roles in identifying different drug functions. Drugs that significantly affect cell survival or proliferation, such as cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors, were more likely to be enriched in communities, whereas other drugs might be decentralized. Chloroquine and clomiphene, which block the entry of virus, were clustered into the same community, indicating that similar MoA could be reflected by the cell image. Overall, the findings of the present study laid the foundation for the discovery of MoAs of new drugs, based on image data. In addition, it provided a new method of drug repurposing for COVID-19.

It reflects on how locally and regionally embedded cultural practises and meanings shape Asian criminological research projects. The article argues that conducting research in certain Asian contexts benefits from an awareness and sensitivity to specific modalities of culture in these regions. The following deliberations reflect on the importance of developing authenticity and building connections, embedded within concepts specific, and relevant to research in Asia-relationality, guanxi, patronage, and adda. The challenges of the research projects, of which there were many, are also discussed and include dichotomies between research conducted in the global North and global South, coloniality, ethics, and issues faced by a British researcher, conducting research in Asia.Using two novel online surveys collected in May and November 2020, we study the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on Spanish households. We document a large and negative effect on household income. By May 2020, the average individual lived in a household that had lost 16% of their pre-pandemic monthly income. Furthermore, this drop was highly unequal while households in the richest quintile lost 6.8% of their income, those in the poorest quintile lost 27%. We also document that the pandemic deepened the gender-income gap on average, women experienced a three-percentage point larger income loss than men. While this is consistent with previous findings in the literature, in this paper we document that this effect is driven by women from middle-income households with kids. Finally, we provide evidence that Spanish individuals experienced moderate declines in their levels of psychological well-being. This effect is not different for individuals living in rich or poor households, but the reasons behind well-being losses do differ richer individuals are more concerned about loss of contact with dear ones, while low-income individuals are more likely to mention loss of income and employment as a key source of emotional distress.
