Indeed, this technique is relatively easy to use, and its intrinsic visual nature may help investigators to untangle the latent information within prescription data, facilitating the individuation of specific patterns and possible inappropriate use of medications. In this paper, we provide an educational primer of the most important learning concepts and methods of SSA, including measurement of dissimilarities between sequences, the application of clustering methods to identify sequence patterns, the use of complexity measures for sequence patterns, the graphical visualization of sequences, and the use of SSA in predictive models. As a worked example, we present an application of SSA to opioid prescription patterns in patients with non-cancer pain, using real-world data from Italy. We show how SSA allows the identification of patterns in prescriptions in these data that might not be evident using standard statistical approaches and how these patterns are associated with future discontinuation of opioid therapy.Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) is one of the most commonly performed surgeries worldwide since it can improve pain, quality of life, and functional outcome. Due to the expansion of hospitals specialized in joint surgery, the topography of TKA implementation in Korea is changing. This study analyzed longitudinal trends of TKA based on changes in age distribution, sex, hospital, and region based on the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) of Korea database. Data were collected from the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS), the Korean Statistical Information Service (KOSIS), and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) in Korea for the period 2011-2018. Results show the total number of surgeries increased and the number of patients by age decreased in those under the age of 70, while the number of patients over 70 years of age increased. A remarkable increase in women was found, and there was no significant difference between regions. TKA is spreading in a more universal and easily accessible form in Korea and has increased more in other relatively small medical institutions compared to tertiary referral medical centers. Due to the increase of orthopedics' specialized hospitals and clinics, TKA is becoming more prominent in those hospitals.
Applying Siegrist's (1996) effort-reward imbalance model to athletes, the current study aimed to develop a measure that can evaluate athletes' effort and reward, and verify its reliability and validity.

The survey was conducted on 530 athletes from universities in Seoul, South Korea. Among the collected data, 276 datasets were used for exploratory factor analysis, 200 for confirmatory factor analysis, and 30 for test-retest reliability analysis; data from surveys that were incomplete or incorrectly answered were excluded. The initial questionnaire was completed based on prior research, expert meetings, and evaluation by the evaluation group. The collected data were subjected to question analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and criterion-related validity analysis.

Four factors of the construct of effort were extracted training strengthening efforts, interpersonal efforts, nutrition management efforts, and cognitive psychology strengthening efforts. Adfor Siegrist and Kathleen et al. studies. Based on this study, subsequent studies can more effectively determine whether the effort-reward imbalance model is applicable to athletes.Childhood obesity is a global public health concern. While evidence from a recent comprehensive Cochrane review indicates school-based interventions can prevent obesity, we still do not know how or for whom these work best. We aimed to identify the contextual and mechanistic factors associated with obesity prevention interventions implementable in primary schools. this website A realist synthesis following the Realist And Meta-narrative Evidence Syntheses-Evolving Standards (RAMESES) guidance was with eligible studies from the 2019 Cochrane review on interventions in primary schools. The initial programme theory was developed through expert consensus and stakeholder input and refined with data from included studies to produce a final programme theory including all of the context-mechanism-outcome configurations. We included 24 studies (71 documents) in our synthesis. We found that baseline standardised body mass index (BMIz) affects intervention mechanisms variably as a contextual factor. Girls, older children and those with higher parental education consistently benefitted more from school-based interventions. The key mechanisms associated with beneficial effect were sufficient intervention dose, environmental modification and the intervention components working together as a whole. Education alone was not associated with favourable outcomes. Future interventions should go beyond education and incorporate a sufficient dose to trigger change in BMIz. Contextual factors deserve consideration when commissioning interventions to avoid widening health inequalities.Leveraging social influence is an increasingly common strategy to change population behavior or acceptance of public health policies and interventions; however, assessing the effectiveness of these social network interventions and projecting their performance at scale requires modeling of the opinion diffusion process. We previously developed a genetic algorithm to fit the DeGroot opinion diffusion model in settings with small social networks and limited follow-up of opinion change. Here, we present an assessment of the algorithm performance under the less-than-ideal conditions likely to arise in practical applications. We perform a simulation study to assess the performance of the algorithm in the presence of ordinal (rather than continuous) opinion measurements, network sampling, and model misspecification. We found that the method handles alternate models well, performance depends on the precision of the ordinal scale, and sampling the full network is not necessary to use this method. We also apply insights from the simulation study to investigate notable features of opinion diffusion models for a social network intervention to increase uptake of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among Black men who have sex with men (BMSM).Geographical differences in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) mortality have not been determined using municipal-specific data in Japan. This study determined the geographical differences in COPD mortality in Japan using municipal-specific data and identified associated factors. Data on COPD mortality from 2013 to 2017 for each municipality were obtained from the Vital Statistics of Japan. We calculated the standardized mortality ratio (SMR) of COPD by an empirical Bayes method for each municipality and located the SMRs on a map of Japan. In addition, an ecological study was conducted to identify factors associated with the SMR using demographic, socioeconomic, and medical characteristics of municipalities by a spatial statistics model. Geographical differences in the SMR were different in men and women, and municipalities with a low SMR tended to be more frequent in women. Spatial regression analysis identified that the total population and taxable income per capita were negatively associated with the SMR in men. In women, population density, the proportion of fatherless households, and the number of clinics per capita were positively associated with the SMR, whereas taxable income per capita was negatively associated with the SMR. There were some differences in regional characteristics associated with COPD mortality by sex.
A controversial issue of the need to protect human rights and ensure public safety still remains a conflict in Taiwan. The purpose of this study was to translate the Crisis Triage Rating Scale to Chinese Mandarin (CMCTRS).

A cross-sectional design with convenient sampling was employed in this study. The CMCTRS was tested on 302 Taiwanese individuals with mental illness who were admitted to the emergency room (ER) of a psychiatric center. A higher score indicated a greater need for mandatory psychiatric admission. Psychiatrists rated the patients' status according to three scale criteria and six action plans of recommendations.

Five specialists evaluated the content validity index to be 0.8. A total of 210 participants (69.5%) were deemed suitable for compulsory hospitalization or admission for observation in ER. The optimal cut-off score was 8, with a Youden Index of 1.46, a sensitivity of 0.748, and a specificity of 0.712 in deciding the need for hospitalization or observation.

The CMCTRS exhibited an acceptable criterion validity with psychiatrists in a population of 302 patients at the ER of a psychiatric center. A cut-off point of 8 is recommended for determining hospitalization or a minimum 24 h stay at emergency for observation.

competition in the healthcare market is becoming increasingly intense. Health technology continues to evolve, so hospitals and clinics need to strengthen hospital management techniques and also adopt a more patient-centered approach in order to provide high-quality healthcare services, including a more simplified process and shorter waiting times for examinations. The Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and smart technology were introduced and implemented into the integrated perioperative management (PERIO) processes for the purpose of decreasing pre-admission management waiting time, as well as increasing the completion rate and quality of pre-admission management for surgical patients in a 1576-bed medical center in central Taiwan.

in order to improve hospital admission procedures for surgical patients by shortening process waiting times, simplifying admission processes, emphasizing a patient-centered approach, and providing the most efficient service process, the present study applied the DMAIC architecturall operations of the hospital. We examined the relationships between change of direction (COD) speed and deficit, and a series of speed- and power-related measurements in national team rugby union players and analyzed the influence of movement patterns on COD ability. Eleven male athletes completed the following physical assessments on different days day 1-anthropometric measurements, and lower-body kinematic parameters (assessed with eight inertial sensors) and completion time in COD tests (pro-agility, 45° cutting maneuver (CUT), and "L" (L-Drill)); day 2-bilateral and unilateral squat and countermovement jumps, 40 m linear sprint, and bar-power output in the jump squat and half-squat exercises. Pearson's product-moment correlations were performed to determine the relationships between COD velocities, COD deficits, and the speed-power variables. Differences between players with higher and lower COD deficits were examined using magnitude-based inferences. Results showed that (1) greater sprint momentum was associated with higher COD deficits, particularly in drills with sharper angles and multiple directional changes (L-drill and pro-agility); (2) higher unilateral jump heights were associated with greater COD deficits in the pro-agility and L-drill but not in the CUT; (3) faster athletes were less efficient at changing direction and presented greater trunk and knee flexion angles during COD maneuvers, probably as a consequence of higher inertia.
