The emerging prodrug strategy provides an alternative solution to create nanomedicines of extreme simplicity by directly using the therapeutic agents as molecular building blocks. An overwhelming majority of the studies taken into consideration demonstrated a significant positive association between asthma and suicidal behaviors. Among the 10 studies assessing SI (with or without SP), 9 of them found a significant positive association between asthma and SI. Eight studies assessed SA; five cross-sectional studies and one prospective study demonstrated a significant positive association between asthma and SA. Only one case-control study did not find a significant positive association between asthma and SA after hospitalization for asthma. The two cross-sectional studies assessing suicidal risk taken as a whole (SI, SP and SA) demonstrated a significant positive association between asthma and at least one suicidal behavior. (OR=1.71; P<0.001). However, several studies did not include depression as an adjustment factor.

Smoking is a public health issue in France, especially among the young. Its specificities for caregivers and health students are part of a nationwide "Tobacco-free health place" strategy, underlining the importance of individual choices and the clinical roles of future health professionals.

Prospective survey by online questionnaire, conducted in 2021 among 238 nursing students and nursing assistants in Mâcon, concerning their smoking habits, vaping and the impact of the Covid-19 health crisis, the objectives being to assess the prevalence of smoking in this population, and compare it to previous surveys and data from the literature. In addition, smoking-related behavior was observed.

One hundred and fifty-seven out of 238 students (66%), 95% of whom were women, responded to the questionnaire, with an average age of 25.1 years (SD 7.7). Smoking prevalence was measured at 22%. Newer adjuvant treatment options for non-metastatic breast cancer have increased survival. There is a need to investigate whether demographic and clinical characteristics of women with hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth receptor 2-negative non-metastatic breast cancer (stages I-III) differentially influence treatment decisions in older (age 65 or older) versus younger patients (under age 65).

In a retrospective electronic medical record review, prevalence ratio with 95% confidence interval for treatment decisions in older vs younger patients was calculated using log binomial regression adjusted for race, stage, and total number of comorbidities.

In a sample of 537 patients, 66% were age < 65 and 34% age ≥ 65. Older patients included a higher proportion of White women (85% vs 75%, P = .02), higher number of comorbidities (P ≤0.0001), and lower stage tumors (P = .0004). In multivariable analysis, age ≥ 65 was independently associated with fewer mastectomies (95% CI 0.65-0.96, P = .02), more lumpectomies (95% CI 1.05-1.42, P = .01), and less receipt of radiation treatment (95% CI 0.78-0.97, P = .01) and/or chemotherapy (95% CI 0.73-0.95, P = .006). In multivariate analysis, stage was independently significant for all treatment modalities, except endocrine therapy, and race was not.

Full net price transparency (NPT) is believed by many to promote price competition and to increase equity by making pharmaceutical products accessible to all. Using agent-based simulations, we find that a full NPT system implemented across EU countries would not be viable. This while, acting as rational economic agents, a group of middle- and lower-income countries would not be willing to give up their confidential agreements with the pharmaceutical industry. Even partial NPT would delay access predominantly in middle- to lower-income countries. Hence, we conclude that implementing net price transparency across Europe would be challenging to reach from a political perspective. Especially in lower-income countries there would remain a plea to be left free to negotiate confidential discounts with drug manufacturers. This while, counterintuitively, in those countries NPT will be seen to be unjust while violating Ramsey pricing and distributive justice principles.
The generalization of bariatric surgery interventions has led in recent years to an explosion in demand for body contouring surgeries. These operations can be followed by postoperative complications; and residual obesity, defined by a BMI≥30, is traditionally considered as a relative contraindication. The objective is to study the influence of a BMI≥30 on the risk of postoperative complications.

A retrospective study was conducted on all patients who underwent body contouring surgery between 2014 and 2020 at the Arras Hospital Center. Major complication rates were compared in obese and non-obese patients.

Two hundred twenty-three patients were included, representing a total of 247 surgeries 124 in the BMI<30 group and 123 in the BMI≥30 group. Sixteen surgeries were followed by at least one major complication, 6 in group I versus 10 in group II (RR=1.7 (0.6-4.5), NS, P=0.29). Therefore there were not significantly more major complications in obese patients.

The incidence of major complications following body contouring surgeries is not modified by the presence of a BMI greater than 30, subject to a precautionary procedure adapted to each patient. BMI is therefore not a sufficient criterion to contraindicate this type of surgery.
