Among the recommendations to be prioritized are early planting, management of grasses at field edges, and non-overlapping cultivation of maize and winter cereals in the same area.Leaf curl, a whitefly-borne begomovirus disease, is the cause of frequent epidemic in chili. In the present study, transmission parameters involved in tripartite interaction are estimated to simulate disease dynamics in a population dynamics model framework. Epidemic is characterized by a rapid conversion rate of healthy host population into infectious type. Infection rate as basic reproduction number, R0 = 13.54, has indicated a high rate of virus transmission. Equilibrium population of infectious host and viruliferous vector are observed to be sensitive to the immigration parameter. A small increase in immigration rate of viruliferous vector increased the population of both infectious host and viruliferous vector. Migrant viruliferous vectors, acquisition, and transmission rates as major parameters in the model indicate leaf curl epidemic is predominantly a vector -mediated process. Based on underlying principles of temperature influence on vector population abundance and transmission parameters, spatio-temporal pattern of disease risk predicted is noted to correspond with leaf curl distribution pattern in India. Temperature in the range of 15-35 °C plays an important role in epidemic as both vector population and virus transmission are influenced by temperature. Assessment of leaf curl dynamics would be a useful guide to crop planning and evolution of efficient management strategies. It is observed that death rates in cardiac surgery has decreased, however, root causes that behave like triggers of potentially avoidable deaths (AD), especially in low-risk patients (less bias) are often unknown and underexplored, Phase of Care Mortality Analysis (POCMA) can be a valuable tool to identify seminal events (SE), providing valuable information where it is possible to make improvements in the quality and safety of future procedures. Our results show that in São Paul State, only one third of AD in low-risk cardiac surgery was related to specific surgical problems. After a revisited analysis, 75% of deaths could have been avoided, which in the pre-operative phase, the SE was related judgment, patient evaluation and preparation. In the intra-operative phase, most occurrences could have been avoided if other surgical technique had been used. Sepsis was responsible for 75% of AD in the intensive care unit. In the ward phase, the recognition/management of clinical decompensations and sepsis were the contributing factors. Logistic regression model identified age, previous coronary stent implantation, coronary artery bypass grafting + heart valve surgery, ≥ 2 combined heart valve surgery and hospital-acquired infection as independent predictors of AD.Immune cells play critical functions in cancer, and mice with intact immune systems are vital to understanding tumor immunology. Both genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs) and syngeneic cell transplant approaches use immunocompetent mice to define immune-dependent events in tumor development and progression. Due to their rapid and reproducible nature, there is expanded interest in developing new syngeneic tools from established primary tumor models. However, few studies have examined the extent that syngeneic tumors reflect the immune profile of their originating primary models. Here, we describe comprehensive immunophenotyping of two well-established GEMMs and four new syngeneic models derived from these parental primary tumors. To our knowledge, this is the first systematic analysis comparing immune landscapes between primary and orthotopic syngeneic tumors. These models all use the same well-defined human-relevant driver mutations, arise at identical orthotopic locations, and are generated in mice of the same background strain. This allows for a direct and focused comparison of tumor immune landscapes in carefully controlled mouse models. We identify key differences between the immune infiltrate of GEMM models and their corresponding syngeneic tumors. Most notable is the divergence of T cell populations, with different proportions of CD8+ T cells and regulatory T cells across several models. We also observe immune variation across syngeneic tumors derived from the same primary model. These findings highlight the importance of immune variance across mouse modeling approaches, which has strong implications for the design of rigorous and reproducible translational studies.Curing of colorectal cancer (CRC) occurs at the time of resection but it is not immediately observable. If the cancer is not completely eliminated, the patient will not be cured of cancer and will experience recurrence as the tumor has regrown to a detectable size. The main propose of the present study was to assess the effects of different covariates on the probability of being cured as well as the time-to-recurrence, and time-to-death in CRC patients by using multi-state cure model. The information of 283 patients with CRC, who underwent resection, from 2000 to 2015 in Imam Khomeini Hospital of Hamadan, Iran, were analyzed. The results of multi-state cure model reveal that females and who experience metastasis were more likely to be apparently cured. It has been shown that sex has a significant effect on the time-to-recurrence given patient was in the not cured group. The survival time of patients of the not cured group was affected by the stage of disease. However, the survival of the apparently cured patients were affected by age at diagnosis and metastasis status. The multi-state cure model provided a flexible framework to study the effects of prognostic factors simultaneously on the transition between different states and the probability of being apparently cured of CRC.Droughts are complex natural phenomena that influence society's development in different aspects; therefore, monitoring their behavior and future trends is a useful task to assist the management of natural resources. In addition, the use of satellite-estimated rainfall data emerges as a promising tool to monitor these phenomena in large spatial domains. The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) products have been validated in several studies and stand out among the available products. Therefore, this work seeks to evaluate TRMM-estimated rainfall data's performance for monitoring the behavior and spatiotemporal trends of meteorological droughts over Paraíba State, based on the standardized precipitation index (SPI) from 1998 to 2017. Then, 78 rain gauge-measured and 187 TRMM-estimated rainfall time series were used, and trends of drought behavior, duration, and severity at eight time scales were evaluated using the Mann-Kendall and Sen tests. The results show that the TRMM-estimated rainfall data accurately captured the pattern of recent extreme rainfall events that occurred over Paraíba State. Drought events tend to be drier, longer-lasting, and more severe in most of the state. The greatest inconsistencies between the results obtained from rain gauge-measured and TRMM-estimated rainfall data are concentrated in the area closest to the coast. Furthermore, long-term drought trends are more pronounced than short-term drought, and the TRMM-estimated rainfall data correctly identified this pattern. Thus, TRMM-estimated rainfall data are a valuable source of data for identifying drought behavior and trends over much of the region.Genus Rubus represents the second largest genus of the family Rosaceae in Taiwan, with 41 currently recognized species across three subgenera (Chamaebatus, Idaoeobatus, and Malochobatus). Despite previous morphological and cytological studies, little is known regarding the overall phylogenetic relationships among the Rubus species in Taiwan, and their relationships to congeneric species in continental China. We characterized eight complete plastomes of Taiwan endemic Rubus species subg. Idaeobatus (R. glandulosopunctatus, R. incanus, R. parviaraliifolius, R rubroangustifolius, R. taitoensis, and R. taiwanicolus) and subg. Malachobatus (R. Eprosartan cost kawakamii and R. laciniastostipulatus) to determine their phylogenetic relationships. The plastomes were highly conserved and the size of the complete plastome sequences ranged from 155,566 to 156,236 bp. The overall GC content ranged from 37.0 to 37.3%. The frequency of codon usage showed similar patterns among species, and 29 of the 73 common protein-coding genes were positively selected. The comparative phylogenomic analysis identified four highly variable intergenic regions (rps16/trnQ, petA/psbJ, rpl32/trnL-UAG, and trnT-UGU/trnL-UAA). Phylogenetic analysis of 31 representative complete plastomes within the family Rosaceae revealed three major lineages within Rubus in Taiwan. However, overall phylogenetic relationships among endemic species require broader taxon sampling to gain new insights into infrageneric relationships and their plastome evolution. The gut microbiota's metabolome is composed of bioactive metabolites that confer disease resilience. Probiotics' therapeutic potential hinges on their metabolome altering ability; however, characterizing probiotics' metabolic activity remains a formidable task. In order to solve this problem, an artificial model of the human gastrointestinal tract is introduced coined the ABIOME (A Bioreactor Imitation of the Microbiota Environment) and used to predict probiotic formulations' metabolic activity and hence therapeutic potential with machine learning tools. The ABIOME is a modular yet dynamic system with real-time monitoring of gastrointestinal conditions that support complex cultures representative of the human microbiota and its metabolome. The fecal-inoculated ABIOME was supplemented with a polyphenol-rich prebiotic and combinations of novel probiotics that altered the output of bioactive metabolites previously shown to invoke anti-inflammatory effects. To dissect the synergistic interactions between exogenous probiotics and the autochthonous microbiota a multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) model was implemented towards the development of optimized probiotic combinations with therapeutic benefits. Using this algorithm, several probiotic combinations were identified that stimulated synergistic production of bioavailable metabolites, each with a different therapeutic capacity. Based on these results, the ABIOME in combination with the MARS algorithm could be used to create probiotic formulations with specific therapeutic applications based on their signature metabolic activity. The inability to individuate finger movements is a common impairment following stroke. Conventional physical therapy ignores underlying neural changes with recovery, leaving it unclear why sensorimotor function often remains impaired. Functional MRI neurofeedback can monitor neural activity and reinforce it towards a healthy template to restore function. However, identifying an individualized training template may not be possible depending on the severity of impairment. In this study, we investigated the use of functional alignment of brain data across healthy participants to create an idealized neural template to be used as a training target for new participants. We employed multi-voxel pattern analyses to assess the prediction accuracy and robustness to missing data of pre-trained functional templates corresponding to individual finger presses. We found a significant improvement in classification accuracy (p less then 0.001) of individual finger presses when group data was aligned based on function (88%) rather than anatomy (46%).
