75%, 60/64), while most of the malignant nodes showed centripetal perfusion (92.50%, 74/80) and inhomogeneous 80.00% (64/80). In addition, quantitative analysis showed that CEUS parameters including PI, TP, and AUC in benign lymph nodes (12.51 ± 2.15, 23.79 ± 11.80, and 1110.33 ± 286.17, respectively) were significantly higher than that in the malignant nodes (10.51 ± 2.98, 16.52 ± 6.95, and 784.09 ± 340.24, respectively). The assistance of the three aforementioned parameters and CEUS image characteristics would result in an acceptable diagnostic value. Conclusion Our results suggest that imaging perfusion patterns as well as quantitative parameters obtained from CEUS provide valuable information for the evaluation of cervical lymph nodes in NPC patients. Background Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that legumain (LGMN) is abnormally expressed in several malignancies and functions as an oncogene. However, the association between LGMN and gastric cancer (GC) has not yet been fully elucidated. In this study, we performed a comprehensive analysis of the role of LGMN in clinicopathologic characteristics and survival of GC patients. 3TYP Methods The study had two patient cohorts, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort and the Zhongshan Hospital cohort, both of which were used to analyze the role of LGMN in GC samples. The relationship between LGMN and clinicopathologic characteristics was determined by the Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. The Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards regression analysis were conducted to investigate the prognostic role of LGMN in GC patients. Moreover, a nomogram was constructed based on the factors that were independently associated with peritoneal metastasis. Finally, the gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA)expression. Conclusion LGMN was an independent prognostic factor for OS in GC patients. Increased expression of LGMN was significantly associated with peritoneal metastasis. The nomogram based on LGMN might guide the clinical decisions for patients with GC.Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a group of non-coding RNAs that have an essential function in the development and progression of various cancers. The expression pattern and function of circRNA in cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CESC) are not fully understood. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the expression profiles and regulation mechanism of circRNA circ_POLA2 in CESC. Circ_POLA2 was highly expressed in CESC tissues and positively correlated with poor prognosis in CESC patients. Knockdown of circ_POLA2 using shRNA inhibited cervical cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, circ_POLA2 could sponge endogenous microRNA-326 (miR-326) and inhibit its expression. Furthermore, miR-326 negatively regulated G protein subunit beta 1 (GNB1) by targeting its 3'-UTR. Intriguingly, we found that GNB1 was overexpressed and associated with poor prognosis in CESC patients. Overexpression of GNB1 could antagonize the inhibitory effect of miR-326 on cervical cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. In addition, we demonstrated that circ_POLA2/miR-326/GNB1 axis regulated ERK signaling. In conclusion, circ_POLA2 promotes cervical squamous cell carcinoma development and progression via regulating the miR-326/GNB1 axis, which might serve as a novel therapeutic target for CESC patients.
To evaluate whole blood chloride concentration and hospital-acquired AKI in hospitalized canine patients. Secondary outcome measures included the volume-adjusted chloride load, in-hospital mortality and length of ICU stay.
This is a prospective, observational study. Sixty dogs admitted to the ICU and receiving IV fluid therapy for >24 hours from February 2018 to July 2019. Corrected chloride and creatinine concentrations were obtained twice daily. Total volume of IV fluid and total chloride load were recorded. Volume-adjusted chloride load (VACL) was calculated by dividing the chloride administered by the volume of fluid administered. Hospital-acquired AKI was defined as an increase in creatinine of ≥26.5 μmol/L (0.3 mg/dL) or 150% from baseline to maximum. Survival to hospital discharge or non-survival and ICU length of stay were also recorded.
Fifteen out of 60 patients developed hospital-acquired AKI. Maximum corrected chloride was significantly different in AKI group (median 122.3 mmol/L) vs non-s in chloride may be observed alongside the development of acute kidney injuries. Future studies in critically ill dogs are warranted.
Maximum corrected chloride concentration was significantly higher in dogs with hospital-acquired AKI, even amongst dogs without hyperchloremia. Additionally, maximum corrected chloride concentrations were significantly higher in dogs hospitalized in the ICU longer compared to those hospitalized for fewer than two days. There was no significant difference in VACL in any of the outcome groups. Results from this study suggest alterations in chloride may be observed alongside the development of acute kidney injuries. Future studies in critically ill dogs are warranted.Plasmacytomas of the thyroid gland are rare, whether or not they arise as solitary (primary) lesions or secondary to systemic multiple myeloma. Here, we present the case of a 71-year-old female presenting with goiter and Hashimoto's thyroiditis, in whom the subsequent histopathological diagnosis of plasmacytoma was a surprise. In presenting this case, we summarize the last 25 years of literature on thyroid plasmacytoma and review the salient clinicopathological characteristics, differential diagnoses, management, and outcomes of this rare condition.
Zingerone is a nontoxic important extract of dry ginger plant. It is reported that zingerone has an anticancer property, strong anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
is to evaluate the possible protective effects of zingerone on ethanol-induced lesions on the jejunum of adult male albino rats.
twenty four adult male albino rats were used, divided into 3 groups; A control group (I); consisted of 8 rats, ethanol group (II); contained 8 rats and each rat given 50% v/v alcohol at a dose of 4 g/kg.bw orally for 15 days. Ethanol zingerone group (III); consisted of 8 rats, each received zingerone at a dose of 50 mg/kg and alcohol at the same previous dose daily and orally for 15 days. At the appropriate time, the specimens were taken and prepared for light and electron microscope study.
Histological examination of jejunum sections of ethanol group (II) showed massive jejunal villi ulcerations with shedding of their surface epithelium, loss of the villous architecture and loss of the microvilli covering some enterocytes. Examination of ethanol zingerone group (III) showed evidence of improvement in the form of nearly normal architecture of the jejunal villi with few areas of ulcerations on the top of some villi and increased cells with mitotic activity.
Accordingly, we can conclude that zingerone administration can remarkably ameliorate ethanol-induced enterotoxiciy and jejunal ulcerations in rats by its anti-inflammatory properties and by suppressing oxidative stress.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most devastating neoplasm with dramatic increase in morbidity and mortality. The detection and prognostic evaluation of precancerous lesions could aid in early control of cancer. Heat shock protein (HSP) 27 has found to be a biomarker and therapeutic target in different types of cancer.
This study aims to investigate the role of HSP 27 as prognostic molecular indicator of malignant transformation in oral epithelial dysplasias.
Thirty samples of epithelial dysplasia (10 mild dysplasia, 10 moderate dysplasia, and 10 severe dysplasia/carcinoma
cases), 10 samples each of well-differentiated OSCC and normal oral mucosa were routinely processed, formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded, and analyzed for HSP27 expression by immunohistochemistry. Statistical analysis was done by one way-ANOVA and Mann-Whitney test to assess the differences between two individual groups.
Normal mucosa showed intense, but nonuniform, expression of HSP27. An initial decline was noted in dysplasias. A significant correlation of HSP27 expression was observed with the severity of dysplasia and well-differentiated OSCC (
< 0.05).
Low HSP 27 expression can be considered as early molecular indicator of initial dysplastic change in normal mucosa. An overexpression of HSP 27 in clinically and histologically confirmed dysplasia could indicate likely transformation to well-differentiated OSCC and could be of prognostic value. However, further studies with a larger sample size are required to confirm the role of HSP 27 as predictive indicator.

Contact dermatitis (CD) is considered among the common inflammatory skin diseases worldwide.
Duchesne has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antidepressant activity beside many other beneficial effects.
This study aimed to assess the effect of pumpkin fruit extract in treating CD in mice exposed to chronic stress and to explore the mechanism through which pumpkin can relief these changes.
Thirty male albino rats were divided into three groups (
= 10); the control and two experimental groups that were exposure to chronic unpredictable mild stress for 4 weeks then painting with 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB) for 3 consecutive days/week for 2 weeks to induce CD. Biochemical assessment of corticosterone level and antioxidants activity was performed. Skin of affected areas was excised, processed for histopathological examination.
DNFB-induced CD presented with dryness, hardness, and scaling. There was a significant reduction (
< 0.001) in the levels of superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and catalase activity in the skin of rats had CD. Histopathologically, the shin showed hyperplastic-thickened epidermis, focal elongation of the rete ridges, inflammatory cells infiltration in the superficial dermis, and increased collagen fibers. Local administration of pumpkin extract significantly increased the antioxidants activity in the skin and alleviated the CD-associated changes.
This study showed that the pumpkin fruit extract could have a potential in treating CD in stressed conditions mainly via its enhancement of skin antioxidant activity.
