We qualitatively reviewed and quantitatively summarized the available literature on procedural and clinical outcomes after stereotactic navigated ablation of malignant liver tumors.

A systematic literature search was performed on procedural and clinical outcomes when using stereotactic or robotic navigation for laparoscopic or percutaneous thermal ablation. The online databases Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched. Endpoints included targeting accuracy, procedural efficiency, and treatment efficacy outcomes. The expression of ACTBL2 and NFAT5 was examined in tissue microarrays of 156 ovarian cancer patients by immunohistochemistry. Aiming to assess the molecular impact of ACTBL2 on cellular characteristics, functional assays were executed in vitro upon siRNA knockdown of ACTBL2 and NFAT5. ACTBL2 expression was identified as an independent negative prognostic factor for overall survival of EOC patients. EOC cell lines showed a significantly increased mRNA and protein level of ACTBL2 compared to the benign control. In vitro analyses upon siRNA knockdown of ACTBL2 displayed a significantly reduced cellular viability, proliferation and migration. siRNA knockdown of NFAT5 proved a significant molecular interplay by inducing a downregulation of ACTBL2 with a thus resulting concordant alteration in cellular functions, predominantly reflected in a decreased migratory potential of EOC cells. The current guidelines for the treatment of penile cancer patients with clinically non-invasive normal inguinal lymph nodes are still broad, so the purpose of this study is to determine which patients are suitable for lymph node dissection (LND).

Histologically confirmed penile cancer patients (primary site labeled as C60.9-Penis) from 2004 to 2016 in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Results database were included in this analysis. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were applied to determine an overall estimate of LND on overall survival and cancer-specific survival. A 11 propensity matching analysis (PSM) was applied to enroll balanced baseline cohort, and further Kaplan-Meier (KM) survival analysis was used to get more reliable results.

Out of 4,458 histologically confirmed penile cancer patients with complete follow-up information, 1,052 patients were finally enrolled in this analysis. Age, pathological grade, T stage, and LND were identified as significant predictors for overall survival (OS) in the univariate Cox analysis. In the multivariate Cox regression, age, pathological grade, T stage, and LND were found significant. The same results were also found in the univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses for cancer-specific survival (CSS). After the successful PSM, further KM analysis revealed that LND could bring significant OS and CSS benefits for T3T4 patients without lymph node metastasis.

The aim of this study was to investigate the reasonable timing of radiotherapy for stage IV non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR-positive mutations during targeted therapy based on tumour volume change (TVC).

Simulation Computed Tomography Scan (SCTS) measurements were taken to test TVC in patients with stage IV NSCLC during targeted therapy at intervals of 10 days. The SCTS measurement was terminated when the tumour volume shrinkage rate in the latter simulation compared with the previous simulation was ≤5% or when the time after treatment was 90 days. Then, primary tumour radiotherapy was performed. Related parameters of the radiotherapy plan were compared between the implementation and simulation plans.

Twenty-seven patients were enrolled in the analysis. After treatment, shrinkage of the primary tumour was observed in all patients, but the rate and speed were inconsistent. The average tumour volume decreased obviously within 40 days and was significantly different every 10 days (P ≤ 0.001). The average volume decreased slowly and tended to be stable (P>0.05) after 40 days. After the termination of SCTSs, 21 patients accepted primary tumour radiotherapy. No patients experienced grade 3+ acute radiation toxicity. The implementation radiotherapy plan was significantly better than that before treatment (all P<0.05) but not better than that on the 40th day after treatment (all P>0.05).

To obtain a high radiation dose and control radiation toxicity, the 40th day after targeted therapy may be a reasonable time to start radiotherapy for stage IV NSCLC with EGFR-positive mutations.

Data on efficacy of adjuvant therapy for surgically resected small cell lung cancer are scant. This study was determined to reveal the survival benefits of different adjuvant treatment modalities for limited-stage small cell lung cancer patients following surgical resection.

Data of patients with histologically confirmed small cell lung cancer after surgical resection were collected from November 2006 to June 2019. Survival analyses were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method, with log-rank test to evaluate statistical significance. PARP inhibitor Prognostic factors were identified by multivariate analysis using cox proportional hazards model. Further survival analysis and cox regression analysis stratified by clinicopathologic features were conducted to evaluate the survival benefits of different adjuvant treatment modalities.

In total, 153 out of 157 patients were analyzed. Multivariate analysis showed male sex, lymph node metastasis, residual tumor, VPI and non-adjuvant therapy were independently associated with poor prognosis.
