The American Board of Thoracic Surgery-certifying examination is challenging for applicants. Single institutions have reported good results with a mock oral examination (MOE) for trainees. General surgery literature has demonstrated success with in-person multi-institutional MOE examinations. Due to small numbers of cardiothoracic training programs and significant geographic variability, we hypothesized that a multi-institutional, collaborative remotely administered MOE (mICMO) pairing faculty with trainees from different institutions would provide an important educational experience.
mICMOs were conducted via the Zoom virtual platform across 6 institutions. Descriptive results via post-experience survey were analyzed and reported.
In total, 100% of trainees found mICMO useful. The majority would recommend to a peer, and 100% of faculty examiners found mICMO useful and would participate in another examination.
Faculty and trainees found the experience to be effective with respect to creating a high-stakes environment, educationally beneficial, and productive. These results support the continued use of mICMO and encourage expansion and collaboration with additional institutions across the country.

Emerging asymptomatic severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections were detected and multiple cases were found to be SARS-CoV-2 positive again, which raised an alarm for the patients hospitalized after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
We investigated the risk and prevention of hospital transmission of SARS-CoV-2 to hospitalized urological patients.
This is a retrospective study of 319 hospitalized urological patients enrolled between April 20, 2020 and May 11, 2020 from two tertiary hospitals in Wuhan, China.
Chest computed tomography (CT) images, nucleic acid tests (NATs), and serum antibody were examined at the outpatient department and 1 wk after admission for all patients.
The chest CT images, NATs, serum antibody results, and clinical data were collected and analyzed.
None of the 319 patients was found to be SARS-CoV-2 NAT positive. Ten and four patients were detected to be immunoglobulin (Ig)G and IgM positive, respectively. In this perspective piece, we bring critical research and community-produced knowledge about informal work to sustainability scholarship. We challenge the dominant, deficit-based frame of informal work, which can dispossess workers, reduce their collective power, and undercut the social and environmental value their work generates. Instead, thinking historically, relationally, and spatially clarifies the essential role of informal work for urban economies and highlights their potential for promoting sustainable cities. It also reveals how growth-oriented economies reproduce environmental destruction, income inequality, and poverty, the very conditions impelling many to informal work. Agriculture is essential to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but the CAP's contribution to do so is uncertain. We analyzed the distribution of €59.4 billion of 2015 CAP payments and show that current CAP spending exacerbates income inequality within agriculture, while little funding supports climate-friendly and biodiverse farming regions. More than €24 billion of 2015 CAP direct payments went to regions where average farm incomes are already above the EU median income. A further €2.5 billion in rural development payments went to primarily urban areas. Effective monitoring indicators are also missing. We recommend redirecting and better monitoring CAP payments toward achieving the environmental, sustainability, and rural development goals stated in the CAP's new objectives, which would support the SDGs, the European Green Deal, and green COVID-19 recovery.As the world's largest coal producer and consumer, China's transition from coal to cleaner energy sources is critical for achieving global decarbonization. Increasing regulations on air pollution and carbon emissions and decreasing costs of renewables drive China's transition away from coal; however, this transition also has implications for employment and social justice. Here, we assess China's current coal-transition policies, their barriers, and the potential for an accelerated transition, as well as the associated environmental, human health, and employment and social justice issues that may arise from the transition. We estimate that the most aggressive coal-transition pathway could reduce annual premature death related to coal combustion by 224,000 and reduce annual water consumption by 4.3 billion m3 in 2050 compared with business-as-usual. We highlight knowledge gaps and conclude with policy recommendations for an integrated approach to facilitate a rapid and just transition away from coal in China.
