Multivariate Cox analysis indicated that ARID3A, KDM5C, and KDM5D were independent risk factors for HCC prognosis. Moreover, ARIDs mutations and 127 CpGs methylation in all ARIDs were observed to be significantly associated with the prognosis of HCC patients. Besides, our data showed that ARIDs could regulate tumor-related pathways and distinct immune cells in the HCC microenvironment.

Neuropathic pain is a commonly seen symptom and one of the most intractable comorbidities following spinal cord injury (SCI). Acupuncture has been widely used for neuropathic pain after SCI in clinical settings. There is no systematic review or meta-analysis evaluating the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of SCI-induced neuropathic pain. Thus, this study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy of acupuncture on SCI-induced neuropathic pain.

Seven databases were comprehensively searched, including PubMed, the Cochrane Library, the Web of Science, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the Chinese Biomedical Literature Service System (SinoMed), the Wanfang Database, and the Chinese Scientific Journals Database (VIP) from their inception to 30 September 2021. Two independent reviewers evaluated the eligibility of the data retrieved based on the pre-established eligibility criteria and assessed the methodological quality of the included studies using re (EA) had better effects on SCI-induced neuropathic pain. However, a publication bias was observed.

Schools are a primary environment that adolescents return to following hospitalization, making them an important context for understanding recovery following a suicidal crisis. Although previous research highlights provider perceptions for improving this transition, limited research has focused on adolescent views. This qualitative study presents findings from interviews with 19 adolescents previously hospitalized for a suicide-related crisis. Results highlight the need to strengthen social supports for returning youth. Specifically, findings suggest the importance of emotional supports (e.g., positive school relationships and a safer psychosocial school climate), instrumental supports (e.g., collaborations and communication around re-entry), informational supports (clearer procedures for academics and re-entry processes), and appraisal supports that acknowledge the complexity of adolescent functioning upon return. Findings reinforce the importance of the school psychologist's role in partnering with returning youth and their families and providing consultation to other school professionals about supporting their recovery.Facial expressions, whether simple or complex, convey pheromones that can affect others. This paper proposes an efficient feature extraction network based on the YOLOv5 model for detecting anchors' facial expressions. First, a two-step cascade classifier and recycler is established to filter invalid video frames to generate a facial expression dataset of anchors. Second, GhostNet and coordinate attention are fused in YOLOv5 to eliminate latency and improve accuracy. YOLOv5 modified with the proposed efficient feature extraction structure outperforms the original YOLOv5 on our self-built dataset in both speed and accuracy.
Emotional brain-computer interface can recognize or regulate human emotions for workload detection and auxiliary diagnosis of mental illness. However, the existing EEG emotion recognition is carried out step by step in feature engineering and classification, resulting in high engineering complexity and limiting practical applications in traditional EEG emotion recognition tasks. We propose an end-to-end neural network, i.e., E2ENNet.

Baseline removal and sliding window slice used for preprocessing of the raw EEG signal, convolution blocks extracted features, LSTM network obtained the correlations of features, and the softmax function classified emotions.

Extensive experiments in subject-dependent experimental protocol are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed E2ENNet, achieves state-of-the-art accuracy on three public datasets, i.e., 96.28% of 2-category experiment on DEAP dataset, 98.1% of 2-category experiment on DREAMER dataset, and 41.73% of 7-category experiment on MPED dataset.

Experimental results show that E2ENNet can directly extract more discriminative features from raw EEG signals.

Detecting the early onset of metabolic syndrome (MetS) allows for quick intervention which may slow progression to a variety of health consequences, hence, determining the best measurement to detect MetS is essential.

This research aimed at examining the MetS predictive power of anthropometric indices, such as body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), percentage body fat (%BF), conicity index (CI), and Clínica Universidad de Navarra-body adiposity estimator (CUN-BAE) to determine the cut-off points to identify male South African taxi drivers with MetS.

A cross-sectional study was conducted among 185 male taxi drivers. Their weight, height, WC, blood lipid profile were measured. International Diabetes Federation (IDF) definition was used to define MetS. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves were used to compare the predictive ability of Anthropometric indices to detect MetS.

Wheat allergy and non-celiac wheat sensitivity are caused by various wheat proteins, including alpha-amylase trypsin inhibitors (ATIs). These proteins, like the gluten proteins which can cause celiac disease, are incompletely digested in the stomach such that immunogenic epitopes reach the lower digestive system where they elicit the undesirable immune response. The only completely effective treatment for these immune reactions is to eliminate the food trigger from the diet, though inadvertent or accidental consumption can still cause debilitating symptoms in susceptible people. One approach used is to prevent the causal proteins from provoking an immune reaction by enhancing their digestion using digestive protease supplements that act in the stomach or intestine, cleaving them to prevent or quench the harmful immune response. In this study, a digestive supplement enriched in caricain, an enzyme naturally present in papaya latex originally designed to act against gluten proteins was assessed for its ability to digest wheat ATIs. The digestion efficiency was quantitatively measured using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, including examination of the cleavage sites and the peptide products. The peptide products were measured across a digestion time course under conditions that mimic gastric digestion in vivo , involving the use of pepsin uniquely or in combination with the supplement to test for additive effects. The detection of diverse cleavage sites in the caricain supplement-treated samples suggests the presence of several proteolytic enzymes that act synergistically. Caricain showed rapid action in vitro against known immunogenic ATIs, indicating its utility for digestion of wheat ATIs in the upper digestive tract.Obesity has become an increasingly serious public health problem. Protein hydrolysate has been demonstrated to be a treasure trove of PLIs, but recognizing responsible functional peptides from them is like looking for a needle in a haystack. In this work, we synthesized and optimized a PL ligand fishing model (PLLFM) using magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), then PLLFM was used to quickly fish out potential PLIs from the Cod meat hydrolysate (CMH). Finally, two new PLIs, GSPPPSG and KLEGDLK were identified with IC50 of 0.60 and 1.08 mg/mL, respectively. The Lineweaver-Burk diagram showed that GSPPPSG is a non-competitively dominant mixed-type PLI, whereas KLEGDLK is a competitive inhibitory-type PLI. Moreover, molecular docking suggested that both peptides can stably bind to the key amino acid residues of the PL active site, mainly through hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic, and electrostatic interactions. In general, we not only established a method to rapidly fish out potential PLIs from protein hydrolysate, but also provided safe and efficient lead compounds for the development of novel diet foods or drugs.This brief research report explored the relationship among obesity, anthropometric measurements, and early childhood caries (ECC), in 3-5 years-old children.
