ncy, account for the sustained increase in measles incidence rates in the US. Controlling indigenous transmission through efficient vaccination coverage in at-risk subpopulations and among international US travellers, improved disease surveillance and rapid outbreak containment are essential in curbing the measles resurgence.Polymer coatings are commonly used to protect carbon steels from corrosion but they are susceptible to weathering and many of them have environmental concerns. Therefore, we studied the possibility of an environmentally favorable inorganic magnesium phosphate cement (MPC) coating for protecting mild steel. A formulation suitable for coating steel was developed by compositional modification [i.e., incremental replacement of dead-burned magnesia (MgO) with magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2)] to a road-repair MPC. This modification yielded an acceptable working time and prevented pore formation at the coating-steel interface. Corrosion monitoring by linear polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy for 14 days found that, the MPC coating substantially increased the linear polarization resistance (Rp) [e.g., day 1 (8.2 ± 1.7) × 103 (nadir value) vs. 495 ± 55 Ω cm-2] and charge transfer resistance (Rct) (e.g., day 1 9.3 × 103 vs. selleck 3.8 × 102 Ω cm-2). The coated steel underwent neutral sodium chloride (NaCl) salt spray for 2400 h without visible rusting. Immersion for 24 h in liquids simulating the pore fluid indicated that, passivation by the excess MgO in the coating was a major contributor to its anti-corrosive property. Tafel polarization in the liquids found that, corrosion current density (Icorr) followed the rank 3.5% NaCl solution (6.0 µA cm-2) > 3.5% NaCl solution containing MgO (3.6 µA cm-2) > 3.5% NaCl solution containing fragmented MPC (1.7 µA cm-2), suggesting that a physical barrier effect and dissolved phosphate ions improved its protection. This study shows that, MPC coating is a promising durable and environmentally favorable anti-corrosive material for protecting steel structures in some applications.Haemophilus influenzae is a predominant pathogen for conjunctivitis, acute otitis media and acute bacterial paranasal sinusitis in children. We undertook this study to investigate the possible association among these diseases. Children younger than 18-year-old with a diagnosis of bacterial conjunctivitis plus acute otitis media and/or acute bacterial paranasal sinusitis during 2009-2018 were included. Sampling for bacterial cultures was obtained from the lower palpebral conjunctiva and/or ear discharge with cotton-tipped swabs. A total of 67 children were recruited and the age was 29.5 (± 22.4) months in average. Fifty-seven children had conjunctivitis-otitis media syndrome and eight of them had a concurrent diagnosis of acute paranasal sinusitis. Ten children had conjunctivitis and acute paranasal sinusitis simultaneously. Clusters in household were observed in 50.7% children. Most common isolates were Haemophilus influenzae (70%), Moraxella catarrhalis (18%), and Staphylococcus aureus (8%). Antibiotic resistance rate of H. influenzae was 80% for ampicillin, 18% for amoxicillin-clavulanate, and 11% for the second or third-generation cephalosporins. Apart from well-known conjunctivitis-otitis media syndrome, acute paranasal sinusitis may also be linked to conjunctivitis with a similar pathogenic process. Simultaneous presence of these infections may guide the choice of empiric antibiotics toward H. influenzae.Automated vehicles (AVs) will change the role of the driver, from actively controlling the vehicle to primarily monitoring it. Removing the driver from the control loop could fundamentally change the way that drivers sample visual information from the scene, and in particular, alter the gaze patterns generated when under AV control. To better understand how automation affects gaze patterns this experiment used tightly controlled experimental conditions with a series of transitions from 'Manual' control to 'Automated' vehicle control. Automated trials were produced using either a 'Replay' of the driver's own steering trajectories or standard 'Stock' trials that were identical for all participants. Gaze patterns produced during Manual and Automated conditions were recorded and compared. Overall the gaze patterns across conditions were very similar, but detailed analysis shows that drivers looked slightly further ahead (increased gaze time headway) during Automation with only small differences between Stock and Replay trials. A novel mixture modelling method decomposed gaze patterns into two distinct categories and revealed that the gaze time headway increased during Automation. Further analyses revealed that while there was a general shift to look further ahead (and fixate the bend entry earlier) when under automated vehicle control, similar waypoint-tracking gaze patterns were produced during Manual driving and Automation. The consistency of gaze patterns across driving modes suggests that active-gaze models (developed for manual driving) might be useful for monitoring driver engagement during Automated driving, with deviations in gaze behaviour from what would be expected during manual control potentially indicating that a driver is not closely monitoring the automated system.This study aimed to discuss association between serum Angiopoietin2 (Ang2) levels, Ang2 gene polymorphisms and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) susceptibility. It was carried out by 235 SLE, 342 other inflammatory autoimmune diseases patients and 380 healthy individuals. Serum Ang2 levels was examinated by ELISA, and Ang2 rs12674822, rs1823375, rs1868554, rs2442598, rs3739390 and rs734701 polymorphisms were genotyped using KASP. Increased Ang2 concentrations in SLE patients were observed compared with healthy controls and patients with other inflammatory autoimmune diseases. link2 For allelic contrast, except for rs1823375 (P = 0.058) and rs2442598 (P = 0.523), frequencies of alleles for other polymorphisms were significantly different between SLE patients and controls. Genotypes for rs12674822 (TT), rs1868554 (TT, TA and TT+TA), rs734701 (TT) were negatively correlated with SLE susceptibility (OR = 0.564 for rs12674822; OR = 0.572, OR = 0.625, OR = 0.607 for rs1868554; OR = 0.580 for rs734701). Patients carrying rs1868554 T allele and rs3739390 G allele were more likely to develop hematuria (P = 0.039; P = 0.003). The G allele frequencies of rs12674822 and rs2442598 were higher in SLE patients with proteinuria (P = 0.043; P = 0.043). GC genotype frequency of rs3739390 was higher in patients with ds-DNA (+) (P = 0.024). In summary, SLE had increased serum Ang2, which may be a potential biomarker, and the polymorphisms correlated with SLE.The study of non-human multilevel societies can give us insights into how group-level relationships function and are maintained in a social system, but their mechanisms are still poorly understood. The aim of this study was to apply spatial association data obtained from drones to verify the presence of a multilevel structure in a feral horse society. We took aerial photos of individuals that appeared in pre-fixed areas and collected positional data. The threshold distance of the association was defined based on the distribution pattern of the inter-individual distance. The association rates of individuals showed bimodality, suggesting the presence of small social organizations or "units". Inter-unit distances were significantly smaller than those in randomly replaced data, which showed that units associate to form a higher-level social organization or "herd". Moreover, this herd had a structure where large mixed-sex units were more likely to occupy the center than small mixed-sex units and all-male-units, which were instead on the periphery. These three pieces of evidence regarding the existence of units, unit association, and stable positioning among units strongly indicated a multilevel structure in horse society. The present study contributes to understanding the functions and mechanisms of multilevel societies through comparisons with other social indices and models as well as cross-species comparisons in future studies.Hematite (Fe2O3) is one of the best candidates for photoelectrochemical water splitting due to its abundance and suitable bandgap. However, its efficiency is mostly impeded due to the intrinsically low conductivity and poor light absorption. In this study, we targeted this intrinsic behavior to investigate the thermodynamic stability, photoconductivity and optical properties of rhodium doped hematite using density functional theory. The calculated formation energy of pristine and rhodium doped hematite was - 4.47 eV and - 5.34 eV respectively, suggesting that the doped material is thermodynamically more stable. The DFT results established that the bandgap of doped hematite narrowed down to the lower edge (1.61 eV) in the visible region which enhanced the optical absorption and photoconductivity of the material. Moreover, doped hematite has the ability to absorb a broad spectrum (250-800) nm. The enhanced optical absorption boosted the photocurrent and incident photon to current efficiency. The calculated results also showed that the incorporation of rhodium in hematite induced a redshift in optical properties.In this work we investigate the role of threading dislocations in nitride light emitters with different indium composition. We compare the properties of laser diodes grown on the low defect density GaN substrate with their counterparts grown on sapphire substrate in the same epitaxial process. All structures were produced by metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy and emit light in the range 383-477 nm. We observe that intensity of electroluminescence is strong in the whole spectral region for devices grown on GaN, but decreases rapidly for the devices on sapphire and emitting at wavelength shorter than 420 nm. We interpret this behaviour in terms of increasing importance of dislocation related nonradiative recombination for low indium content structures. Our studies show that edge dislocations are the main source of nonradiative recombination. We observe that long wavelength emitting structures are characterized by higher average light intensity in cathodoluminescence and better thermal stability. These findings indicate that diffusion path of carriers in these samples is shorter, limiting the amount of carriers reaching nonradiative recombination centers. According to TEM images only mixed dislocations open into the V-pits, usually above the multi quantum wells thus not influencing directly the emission.The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of administering intermittent parathyroid hormone (iPTH) before tooth extraction versus after tooth extraction on the risk of developing MRONJ in experimental animal model. Twenty-five ovariectomized rats received 6 weeks of bisphosphonate therapy. They were classified into 3 groups, based on the timing of the medication, as Control, Pre-PTH and Post-PTH groups. link3 For Control group, normal saline was administered before and after tooth extraction. iPTH was administered during 4 weeks before tooth extraction for Pre-PTH group and after tooth extraction for Post-PTH group. The animals were euthanized 8 weeks after tooth extraction. Macroscopic, histological, micro-computed tomography (micro-CT), and histomorphometric examinations were conducted. The incidences of impaired healing were 11.11% both in Pre-PTH and Post-PTH groups, which was lower than the Control group (42.86%). Bone healing in the extraction socket, based on micro-CT and histomorphometry evaluations, was best in Post-PTH and worst in Control group.
